What you’ll learn
There's nothing in the world quite like the holiday season in Germany. Each winter, many German cities burst into celebration as artisans, crafters, and other vendors take to the streets with their festive wares. There are seasonal cookies and cakes in display windows, and of course, all the hot mulled wine you can drink. Join expert Tour Director Atto for a conversation on everything you need to know about the holiday season in Germany and their famous Christmas Market. Then, learn how you can visit different European Christmas markets on a tour with EF Go Ahead.
Hello, I'm Atto. I was born in Münster, Westphalia in former West Germany. As a young boy, growing up on a farm, I couldn’t travel but I always had a genuine wish to explore the world as much as possible.
Fortunately for me, traveling became my profession. After several successful years in different areas - from gardening to theatre and television - 15 years ago I discovered my true vocation: Being an EF/Go Ahead Tour Director. My colleagues and customers value my sense of humor, mediating skills, and positive attitude.
Nowadays I live in Berlin, in its former Eastern part, very close to where the wall used to divide the city. Therefore I have a keen interest in 20th century history and its social impact. I chose Berlin as my home place not least because it has a strong connection to history, geopolitics, and culture, it’s also a vibrant city on the map of Europe, a great starting point for my journeys throughout Germany, Europe and the rest of the world.
