Make pasta like a pro

Join a professional chef in Bologna, one of Italy’s culinary gems, for a hands-on experience crafting tortellini, tortelloni, and tagliatelle. (And tasting it, too!)

Gather at a local’s table

Sit down for a homemade meal at an 18th-century Sicilian manor with an intimate group of travelers and get to know your host—who happens to be a Contessa.

Tastings, right at the source

Head to the Alentejo region of Portugal, where you'll sip some of the country's best wines at a local vineyard and taste olive oil among the groves of the estate where it's produced.

What our travelers say about their Food & Wine Tours

Yet another amazing trip!
11/16/2019 by 14th-time traveler Betty
What a joy touring Southern Italy! Small towns and villages, countryside, food, wine and all led by our Director, Paz. My third trip with this marvelous, knowledgeable lady. Our bus driver Salvo contributed to the pleasure and ease of the trip. Italy is not just about the pasta.

Food and Wine Extraordinaire
10/25/2019 by 1st-time traveler Barbara
The trip far exceeded our expectations. The tone was set with an exceptional welcome dinner in Montevideo. Winery tours, tastings and food pairings in the Canelones, Mendoza and Aconcagua Valley wine regions were unique, personal and filled with education, laughter and variety.

Thank you to our tour guide Paola and Go Ahead for a wonderful experience
10/13/2017 by 1st-time traveler Susan Z.
Our tour guide Paola repeated a beautiful phrase to all of us...You travel three times, when you imagine, when you are there and when you remember. We arrived back in the states last night and I've been smiling all day remembering. This tour lived up to its name.

This tour is a must
11/5/2018 by 2-time traveler Meredith K.
As usual, Go ahead plans everything perfectly, so you do not have any worries while traveling to multiple locations. This particular tour is outstanding, seeing two large cities, but also going off the beaten path to vineyards and towns along the way.

Tips for taking a Food and Wine Tour

Where to go on a Food and Wine Tour

It's no wonder that culinary travel is a major trend; one of the best ways to immerse yourself in a new culture is through its cuisine. Our culinary tours are designed to take you to some of the world’s most flavorful locales, like Tuscany and Southern Italy, the Champagne region of France, Spain’s Catalonia region, and even the vineyards of Chile. What are the best destinations for wine tourism and foodie vacations? You can’t go wrong when there are so many delicious places to explore—but our expert Tour Consultants are here to help you pick your perfect trip from our many food and wine travel packages.

What to expect on a Food and Wine Tour

Along with guided sightseeing tours and stops at top attractions, our food and wine travel packages include experiences that give you an insider’s look at the food scene in your destination. That means market visits, wine tastings, tours of farms and vineyards, cooking classes, and more. You’ll be able to try famous dishes from kitchens around the globe, like handmade tagliatelle and ragù in Bologna or paella in Spain, as well as new delicacies that your Tour Director will help you uncover (think: freshly pressed olive oils, buffalo mozzarella, or Basque ciders straight from the cask).

Our Food & Wine Tours feature small groups of 10–22 travelers, so you can make the most of your shared culinary experiences together. Sustainable food practices are at the heart of each itinerary. That means you’ll participate in cultural exchange through cuisine, and meet local vendors and producers who promote the preservation of local culinary traditions.

All our food tours and wine tours are designed to highlight the best eats a region has to offer. But, you’ll also have free time to explore your destination—and that means more time for trying new dishes. Your Tour Director is your go-to, no matter where you go. So, they’ll be able to share tips and steer you toward more incredible bites.

Dining tips for a Food and Wine Tour

The meals included with our food and wine travel packages are designed to highlight the authentic cuisine in your destination. Along with daily breakfasts at your hotel, you’ll enjoy select lunches and dinners filled with specialties of the region (that means handmade pasta in Italy, fresh seafood in Portugal and Greece, and plenty of jamón in Spain) as well as wine tastings and other experiences like farm and vineyard visits. Whether it’s fresh goat cheese in France’s Loire Valley or ceviche in Lima, Peru, the best way to experience culinary travel is through taste! You don’t have to be an adventurous eater, but being enthusiastic about new experiences is a must while on tour.

Of course, if you have any dietary restrictions or concerns, our team can work with you to ensure you get the most out of our culinary vacations!
