From buttery pastas to bubbly spritzes, there’s something familiar about Italian cuisine. What better way to understand it than by heading straight to the source? This Food Tour visits Venice, Florence, and Rome—three iconic cities with the culinary cachet to match—and introduces you to essential eats like cicchetti, coccoli, and carciofi alla Giudia. Between each stop, you’ll jump into hands-on cooking classes and delight in even more regional specialties. (Modenese balsamic vinegar, anyone?) And to add a cherry—or lemon—on top of a sensational itinerary, add the extension to the Sorrento Peninsula.

Day 2: Arrival in Venice

Included meal: Welcome dinner

Ciao! Touch down in Italy and transfer to your hotel via vaporetto, or water taxi. Tonight, you’ll get to know your Tour Director and fellow travelers—and set the tone for the coming days—over a three-course dinner at a local restaurant, served with beer or wine.

Sorrento Peninsula extension

Candy-colored villas. Cliffs that tumble down to a shimmering sea. The Sorrento Peninsula is a treat for the senses—and this extension lets you indulge. Begin with a stop in Pompeii and immerse yourself in ancient Roman history one last time. Then, unwind among the lemon groves and lovely towns of this UNESCO-recognized destination, made more special by an included dinner at an agriturismo.

Sorrento Peninsula

Day 12: Sorrento Peninsula via Pompeii

Included meal: Breakfast

Drive through the countryside of the Lazio region and into Campania, home of the Sorrento Peninsula. But before arriving at your ultimate destination, you’ll stop in Pompeii—an ancient city, frozen in time, where excavated ruins unveil the daily routines and defining tragedy of a bygone civilization.

Tour Pompeii’s well-preserved streets, houses, and public buildings to glimpse life in the Roman Empire and learn how the settlement was buried by a cataclysmic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Afterward, complete the last leg of your journey to the Sorrento Peninsula and settle into your hotel for the night.

Day 13: Free day on the Sorrento Peninsula & farmhouse dinner with wine tasting

Included meals: Breakfast, Dinner, Wine tasting

If you choose to add our optional excursion to your itinerary today, you’ll sail across the Bay of Naples to the famed island of Capri. Known around the world as a playground for chic jet-setters and a shopper’s paradise, its dramatic coastline is dotted with cliffside hotels and lavish villas. You’ll traverse crystalline waters by boat and spend time on the island before returning to the Sorrento Peninsula.

Choosing to explore on your own? Many towns on the Sorrento Peninsula are connected via public bus. Ask your Tour Director for a recommendation on what to see—and, more importantly, what to eat!

This evening, make the short trip to an agriturismo, or farm stay, just outside of Sorrento. After a tour of its gardens and fields, clink flutes of Prosecco together and indulge in a quick aperitif before sitting down to a four-course dinner. Alongside included glasses of beer and wine, you’ll have the chance to sample a variety of wines, poured and analyzed by a professional sommelier.

Please note: You must be able to climb stairs and walk to tour the agriturismo.

Day 14: Free day on the Sorrento Peninsula

Included meal: Breakfast

To cap your tour with one of Italy’s finest highlights, tack our full-day outing to the Amalfi Coast—the beloved Costiera Amalfitana—onto your itinerary. Rather make the day your own? Chat with your Tour Director about how to visit one of the Sorrento Peninsula’s famous lemon groves.

This evening, enjoy a farewell drink as you celebrate your trip with your fellow travelers.
