We were thrilled to join forces with bloggers Dave and Deb of The Planet D at our event in Toronto last month. This talented pair travels the world and documents their adventures with incredible photography and helpful tips. Having just returned from our Tanzanian safari, the duo was excited to share their wildlife sightings and chat about all things travel. We gathered with Toronto-based Go Ahead travelers and travel fanatics at Evergreen Brick Works, a mission-driven organization that seeks to create thriving community spaces. Here’s our recap from the event for those who missed it!

Dave and Deb shared that the most important word you need to know for a safari in Tanzania is “Jambo!” This Swahili greeting is best said with arms wide open and a big grin.
Did you know there’s a coffee truck in the middle of the Serengeti for sleepy safari-goers? Pretty neat! Your Tour Director will know where to go.
The Big Five include the African elephant, Cape buffalo, African lion, African leopard, and rhino. Dave and Deb saw all except the rhino. And to turn it up a notch, they even spotted a leopard jumping and climbing a tree (very rare!), a community of baby elephants playing, and a lion who took a catnap right in front of their safari vehicle.

Love the photos in this blog post? They were taken by the talented Dave and Deb. See more of their amazing photography from Tanzania on their blog here. At the event, we raffled off some of their photos printed on large canvases, so five lucky winners got to bring home a bit of tour magic.

During the Toronto event, Go Ahead President Heidi Durflinger gave the crowd a rundown on some exciting things underway. The thing she’s most excited about? Our newest tour portfolio of heritage-based tours, created in collaboration with Ancestry.
