What our travelers say about their trips to Australia
True Aussie experience
06/12/18 by 2nd-time traveler Vaibhav
Going to Australia was our bucket list item to do it together with my family. I am glad that I chose Go Ahead Tours for a truly satisfying experience. The trip itinerary was perfect giving us enough excursions and also enough free time to explore the city on our own.
I highly recommend this trip as the itinerary includes everything you will want to visit in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. Our group will never forget our days at the Great Barrier Reef, Uluru, Sydney, Queenstown and so many more wonderful, memory-packed days.
This was my third trip with Go Ahead and I must say it was a total blast from beginning to end. I felt so fortunate to be able to fly to Australia like I did and see Melbourne, Ayers Rock, Alice Springs, Cairns and Sydney. Looking forward to the next trip with you Go Ahead and making more memories!
This was my first group travel and I really enjoyed the trip. Of course, Australia and NZ are big, but I felt like what was planed for this trip was enough to get an idea of what these countries were and to make me want to come back and explore further.
If you’re considering booking a trip to Australia, here are a few things you might want to know:
Read up on the local slang. While Australians still speak English, it’s not the same as it is in the U.S. You’ll notice this as soon as our Australia tours begin!
If you’ll need internet access, get a hotspot on your phone. It’ll be a lot more reliable (and cheaper) than hotel or public WiFi.
Cars drive on the left, so look both ways before crossing the street.
The same applies for sidewalks—so make sure you walk on the left, too!
How many days should I plan to spend on tour in Australia?
That depends on how much you want to see and do on your trip to Australia. Our Australia travel packages range from 12-22 days, so there’s truly something for everyone.
What should I pack for my trip to Australia?
First, remember that when it’s winter in North America, it’s summer in Australia, and vice versa. While Australian winters are much milder than they are in the majority of North America, you’ll still want to bring a warm jacket on our Australia tours.
You’ll also want to bring some reef-safe sunscreen. The sun can be much stronger in Australia—even during their winter.
What are some of the top places to visit in Australia?
Some of the most popular places to visit include:
Melbourne, a hip city full of fantastic food
The Great Barrier Reef, the world’s largest coral reef system
Uluru, a sacred sandstone site in the Outback
The Sydney Opera house, an iconic site on the water
What traditional cuisine should I try in Australia?
On our trips to Australia, there’s no shortage of local cuisines to indulge in. Here are the foods you’ll have to try:
Barbecued “snags,” also known as sausages
Meat pies, a savory, sweet Australian delicacy
Vegemite (it’s an acquired taste)
Tim Tams. Bite off opposite corners and sip your tea with it for what the locals call a Tim Tam Slam!
What should I know before traveling to Australia?
As you plan your trip to Australia, keep in mind that you will need to purchase an individual visa from the Australian government or the Electronic Travel Authority website. You need a valid passport to apply and it only takes a few days to process.
One of the main benefits of going on a guided tour of Australia is that you’ll always have an expert by your side to help you find the best spots. All of our Australia tour packages feature local guides, so you’ll get an authentic perspective of the country. Plus, when you go to Australia on a group tour, you’ll get to experience the country while making new friends in your group, too.
