Madrid3 nights
Day 4: Train ride to Madrid
Included meal: Breakfast
Journey by high-speed train to Madrid, a bustling capital that’s latticed with elegant boulevards and blanketed with vast manicured parks. You’ll get to know it in depth tomorrow.
Nightlife in Madrid starts late and goes well into the early hours of the morning. Hit the streets for the classic 10 p.m. dinner or opt into our (earlier) excursion: a take on the traditional Spanish evening. On this optional outing, you’ll explore the city in the evening light—seeing landmarks like Plaza Mayor, the historic center of Old Madrid—and enjoy a little traditional tuna music, too.
If you’d prefer to spend the evening on your own, ask your Tour Director for a recommendation or make a beeline to La Latina, an old neighborhood known for its tapas bars. Patatas bravas, croquetas, jamon iberico—these small plates are big on flavor.
Please note: Porterage is not included on train transfers. You should be comfortable lifting and carrying luggage over steps, onto platforms, and into storage.
Day 5: Sightseeing tour of Madrid & cooking class
Included meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Get an insider’s view of Madrid, where the legacy of the Habsburgs and Bourbons meets the fiery spirit of the Spanish people. Join your Tour Director and trace Madrid’s path from a small medieval town into a 16th-century powerhouse.
- View the Royal Palace, Spain’s largest royal residence and a Baroque stunner complete with grand facades and sprawling gardens.
- Pass by the Temple of Debod, a reassembled temple from ancient Egypt, given as a gift to Spain in recognition of the country’s aid in saving the Abu Simbel temples from destruction. Madrid’s skyline unfolds from this oasis-like vantage point, creating a moment of respite amidst the bustling city.
- View the city’s many squares, including Plaza Colon and Plaza de Neptuno. You’re in for a treat, since the enormous fountains and quaint cafes offer prime people-watching opportunities.
- Explore the Prado, a world-class art museum that began as the private collection of the Spanish monarchy and contains the works of Goya, Velásquez, Rubens, and Bosch.
This evening, head to a local culinary school for a hands-on cooking class, during which you’ll craft Spanish tapas under the guidance of an experienced chef. Then, sit down for an included dinner and enjoy what you’ve prepared, paired with sangria and a cheese course.
Day 6: Free day in Madrid

Seville2 nights
Day 7: Seville via Cordoba & olive oil farm
Included meals: Breakfast, Tasting
Settle aboard a high-speed train and enjoy the ride to the Andalusian city of Cordoba, once an important Roman outpost and a major Islamic center in the Middle Ages. Once you pull into your station, strike out into town for a guided sightseeing tour.
- Pass by Cordoba’s Roman Bridge, which was built in the first century B.C. and features 16 irregularly patterned arches.
- View the medieval Albolafia, one of several historic watermills in the city. A remnant of city’s Islamic era, it could date as far back as the ninth century—though its exact history is still not clear.
- Enter the Mezquita-Catedral de Cordoba, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built in the eighth century as a mosque and then converted into a cathedral during the Reconquista. See its stunning arches, intricate mosaics, and peaceful courtyard.
After exploring Cordoba, board your bus and continue to a family-owned olive oil farm for a tour and tasting.
- Join a local guide for a tour of the farm’s groves, mill, and cellar to learn about the delicate process of olive harvesting.
- Drizzle orange-infused olive oil on top of chocolate gelato for an unexpected flavor combination.
- Enjoy free time to shop for souvenirs that’ll let you savor the memories of your vacation (literally).
Continue to Seville and spend a free evening in the city. Up for a walk with a view? Head to the Barrio Santa Cruz, a historic district made up of narrow, winding streets that you’ll get to see more of tomorrow. Or catch panoramic city views from the Metropol Parasol, known as Las Setas—which is especially stunning at sunset.
Please note: Porterage is not included for the train transfers. Travelers must be comfortable lifting and carrying all luggage over steps, onto platforms, and into luggage storage.
Day 8: Sightseeing tour of Seville & flamenco show
Included meals: Breakfast, Tasting, Farewell dinner
Uncover the beauty of Seville, Andalusia’s capital city, on a guided sightseeing tour of its historic churches and Moorish buildings.
- View the tiled pavilion of the Plaza de Espana, a massive, semi-circular brick structure built in the Renaissance and neo-Moorish styles for the 1929 Ibero-American Exhibition.
- Pass the whitewashed homes of the Barrio de Santa Cruz, a popular neighborhood known for its cobblestone streets, narrow alleys, and tiled benches.
- See Seville Cathedral, one of the largest Gothic churches in the world. Awesome in scale, this 16th-century architectural marvel also contains artworks by Goya and Murillo, as well as an enormous and richly decorated central altarpiece. The Giralda, originally a minaret from a mosque that once stood on the site, was converted into a bell tower for the cathedral and offers panoramic views of Seville.
- Enter the Royal Alcazar, a palace that was once home to the Catholic monarchs King Ferdinand II and Queen Isabella I.
- Stop to enjoy a tasting of several types of Andalusian tapas. You might try gambas al ajillo, sizzling shrimp cooked in olive oil with lots of garlic and a hint of chili pepper, or chorizo al vino, spicy sausage cooked in red wine.
Tonight, get a taste of old Seville at a celebratory farewell dinner. Sip an included glass of wine or beer with your fellow travelers as you watch a heart-stopping, soul-stirring flamenco show. This expressive art form combines flamboyant singing, dancing, and clapping—it’s even been recognized by UNESCO as one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
End the evening with free time to explore the captivating Santa Cruz neighborhood, home to whitewashed buildings and elegant patios filled with flowers.
Please note: Travelers should have their passport information confirmed at least 30 days prior to departure to ensure we can secure tickets for entrance to the Royal Alcazar.

Join your fellow solo travelers and head south to experience the peaks and shores of the Costa del Sol. Nestled at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, the Andalusian city of Granada is home to a dazzling array of structures dating to the Moorish period—most notably the Alhambra. Stop to explore charming mountain villages and sample specialties like jamon serrano as you make your way to Malaga, a port city and Picasso’s hometown. There, marvel at the ruins of an ancient Roman theater and perhaps duck into a cozy bar or restaurant to sample some of the flavors the city is known for.
Granada1 night
Day 9: Transfer to Granada & sightseeing tour of the Alhambra
Included meal: Breakfast
Head south toward Granada, where you’ll take a guided tour of the UNESCO-recognized Alhambra, the Moorish sultans’ last stronghold in Spain. The massive fortress complex is an important relic of Islamic rule in the region—it fell to the Catholic monarchs in 1492—and that history is evident in the city’s architecture, culture, and traditions.
- Walk along the Promenade of the Cypress Trees to view the Generalife, the former gardens and summer palace of Spain’s Nasrid rulers.
- View the uniquely curved, Roman-style courtyard inside the Palace of Charles V, another holdover from the Nasrid dynasty.
- Admire the blend of Western art and Islamic design as you stroll through ornamented courtyards bursting with myrtle bushes, roses, orange trees, and aromatic herbs—all planted so that the gardens remain colorful and fragrant throughout the year.
- Enter the Nasrid Palaces and see the Mexuar, the hall where the Sultan would meet with his council and subjects. Look for quintessential Moorish elements like stucco work, geometric patterns, and ornamented vaulting in the stalactite-like ceiling.
- See where the royal family lived during visits to Comares Palace and the Court of the Lions.
Please note: The order of activities is subject to change.Travelers should have their passport information confirmed at least 90 days prior to departure to ensure we can secure tickets for entrance to the Alhambra.
Málaga2 nights
Day 10: Alpujarra villages of the Sierra Nevada mountains & sightseeing tour of Malaga
Included meals: Breakfast, Tasting
Visit several villages in the Alpujarra region of the Sierra Nevada mountain range—home to the highest peak on the Iberian Peninsula. The region was one of the last Moorish strongholds in Spain, and you can still see the Islamic influence in the terraced agriculture and architecture.
- Meet your local guide in Orgiva, a bustling market town and melting pot of various communities living the rural Spanish lifestyle.
- Travel to Pampaneira, a mountain village known for its ceramics, leather, and clothing.
- Make your way to Trevelez, one of the highest villages in the Sierra Nevadas, known for its production of ham, and stop for a tasting of locally produced jamon serrano.
Continue to Malaga and get to know the port city on a sightseeing tour. The birthplace of artist Pablo Picasso is a beachy jewel along the Mediterranean and boasts a thriving art scene and dreamy waterfront promenade.
- View the Malaga Cathedral, nicknamed the One-Armed Woman for its incomplete second tower.
- Learn about the city’s history as you view its ancient Roman theater, originally built in the first century A.D.
- Marvel at the hilltop palace of Alcazaba, which has served as a royal residence and military structure. The Moorish fortress’ walls remain remarkably preserved—not bad for a complex built (and rebuilt) between the 10th and 15th centuries.
Day 11: Free day in Malaga
Included meals: Breakfast, Farewell dinner
For a few hours of “how did they do that?” add our optional excursion to your itinerary and head inland to explore the dramatic cliffside towns of Ronda and Setenil de las Bodegas.

If you’re traveling to multiple countries with this requirement, you only need to complete the form once. All Go Ahead travelers are responsible for obtaining their own ETIAS travel authorization before departure. For more details, please visit our Help Center.
- Spain requires specific traveler information be reported to the Ministry of the Interior. Please make sure that all travelers in your party have saved their full passport details, home address, phone number, and email address in their online accounts. This information will then be submitted to the Ministry by your hotel accommodations. Travelers who fail to provide this information may face a high fine from the Ministry for non-compliance.
- If you are not a U.S. or Canadian citizen, you must contact your destination country’s consulate for your specific entry requirements.
