Paris

Day 9: Walking tour of Le Marais

Included meal: Breakfast

Begin your day in Paris with a guided walking tour of Le Marais, one of the city's most enchanting neighborhoods renowned for its rich history, vibrant Jewish community, and thriving café and gallery culture. Meet your local guide at Saint Paul metro station and prepare to step back in time.

  • Head south to discover the Hôtel de Sens, a rare example of medieval civic architecture built for aristocracy, complete with a stunning French-style garden that offers a peaceful retreat from the city bustle.
  • Pass the wall of Philip Augustus, remnants of the 12th-century fortifications that once encircled Paris, before following rue Saint-Antoine to view the Hôtel de Sully, a magnificent 17th-century heritage site adorned with ornate sculptures and a grand courtyard.
  • Wander through Place des Vosges, the oldest planned square in Paris, surrounded by elegant red-brick arcades and perfectly manicured gardens—it's easy to see why this spot has charmed Parisians for centuries.
  • Continue along rue des Francs Bourgeois, passing the Carnavalet History Museum and the Hôtel de Lamoignon, architectural gems that showcase the aristocratic splendor of old Paris.
  • Head into the Jewish district of Le Marais to see the synagogue and stroll through the Rosiers garden, where centuries of cultural heritage come alive. Enjoy free time on rue Vieille du Temple to browse eclectic boutiques, duck into a cozy café, or simply soak in the neighborhood's creative energy.
  • End your tour at the Hôtel de Ville, Paris' magnificent city hall—a 19th-century masterpiece that serves as the seat of local government and a symbol of civic pride.

To fill your afternoon and your belly in one fell swoop, join our optional food walking tour and savor the flavors of the Seine’s Right Bank. Or, for a slower afternoon, cross to the Left Bank and lounge in the Luxembourg Garden. The centerpiece of the Odeon district, this 57-acre green space abuts the home of the French Senate—the regal Luxembourg Palace.

Day 10: Free day in Paris

Included meal: Breakfast

Grab your camera (and your sketchbook, if you’re feeling inspired): Today’s optional outing to Giverny, home of the beloved Claude Monet, looks at the idyllic settings that inspired the impressionist movement. For a cultural outing closer to home, visit one of Paris’ 130-plus museums, displaying everything from Asian art to Arab archaeological finds.

Later in the evening, sip a farewell drink with your groupmates and toast to a fantastic trip.
