Uncover your own version of London at a gentle pace you can indulge in.

London was once considered the capital of the world—and it shows. It has a history that stretches back 2,000 years, and a culture as rooted in the local pub as it is in world-class museums. Now, it’s your turn to be a part of its story. With this City Stay tour, you’ll unpack only once, then spend your time among London’s landmarks (hello, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, and the River Thames). Get acquainted with this city at your own pace, join curated and pre-planned optional excursions, and explore more of the United Kingdom by adding the extension to Edinburgh in Scotland.

Edinburgh

Day 7: Train to Edinburgh

Included meal: Breakfast

Journey by high-speed train through the English countryside and past the lochs—or lakes—and rolling hills of Scotland. Watch ancient castles, cathedrals, and villages drift in and out of view as you wind to your destination: Edinburgh.

Please note: Porterage isn’tincluded for the train transfers. You must be comfortable lifting and carrying all luggage over steps, onto platforms, and into storage

Day 8: Sightseeing tour of Edinburgh

Included meal: Breakfast

Nestled between the rivers Almond and Esk, Edinburgh emerges from a series of hills and rocky ridges, earning its nickname Athens of the North. Get to know the Scottish capital and all its medieval beauty on a tour led by a local expert.

  • View the elegant, dramatic Neoclassical and Georgian architecture of the New Town. Its ornate sandstone and granite structures, surrounding oasis-like gardens and green spaces, became a model for European urban planning in the 18th century and beyond.
  • Contrast the New Town’s grace with the Old Town’s rustic Royal Mile, which runs between Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace—the official residence of British monarchs in Scotland. Here, you’ll cross moody narrow streets and alleys, known as closes, flanked by brooding stone buildings and timeworn cathedrals.
  • Pass the towering Sir Walter Scott monument—paying homage to the “Ivanhoe” and “Rob Roy” scribe—one of the largest tributes devoted to an author in the world.
  • Ascend Castle Rock and enter Edinburgh Castle. Standing on an extinct volcano at the top of the Royal Mile, it houses the Scottish Crown Jewels.

If you’d like, fill your night with song and dance at an optional cèilidh (say it “KAY-lee”). Maybe you’ll be inspired to take to the dance floor yourself!

Alternatively, use your free afternoon to take the scenic, uphill walk through Old Town to Arthur’s Seat. This lush, green, and stony cliff offers the kind of views of the city you’ll want to write home about. The climb up to Arthur’s Seat is a major tourist attraction and one of the best reasons to visit Edinburgh—but it’s also frequented by locals.

Please note: The order of today’s activities is subject to change.

Day 9: Free day in Edinburgh

Included meal: Breakfast

Continue your exploration of Edinburgh during a free day. For something off the beaten path, pay a visit to Dean Village—a dreamy hidden gem along the Water of Leith dotted timeworn stone buildings that date to its 12th-century origins as a milling center.

You can also choose to join us on a curated excursion to St Andrews for a peek into the birthplace of golf and its eponymous university, as well as a hearty pub lunch of a North Sea favorite: fish and chips.

Tonight, join your group one last time for a farewell toast.

Flight Home
