Day 1: Travel day

Athens2 nights
Day 2: Arrival in Athens
Included meal: Welcome dinner
Close your eyes and take in the smell of orange blossoms and olive trees—you’re in Greece! Transfer to your hotel, then get to know your Tour Director and fellow travelers at tonight’s welcome dinner, served with beer or wine.
Day 3: Women of Athens sightseeing tour
Included meal: Breakfast
Meet up with a local guide for a women-centered introduction to Greece’s bustling capital, home to the world’s first democracy and over 3,400 years of recorded history.
- Gaze upon the Melina Mercouri Monument, a marble statue bearing the visage of one of Greece’s favorite daughters. A decorated actress, she transitioned to politics in the late 1960s, twice serving as the country’s Minister for Culture and proudly promoting Greek heritage across the globe.
- Drive through village-like Plaka, the historic “neighborhood of the gods” built in the shadow of the Acropolis.
- Set off on a walking tour of the Acropolis of Athens, a millennia-old, UNESCO-listed citadel and the enduring image of Greece. First properly developed by the renowned politician Pericles, it now contains the ruins of the Parthenon, Temple of Athena Nike, Erechtheion, and dozens of other archaeological sites.
If your first full day in Greece has you feeling like dancing, you’re in luck: Add tonight’s optional excursion to your itinerary to learn the steps of traditional folk dances, then cap it off with dinner at a taverna. Can’t get enough of the nation’s history? Go for a walk—you’re bound to come across something monumental.
Rhodes3 nights
Day 4: Flight to Rhodes & sightseeing tour
Included meals: Breakfast, Dinner
This morning, fly southeast to Rhodes, the largest of the Dodecanese islands. After touching down, drive into town and stretch your legs during a guided walking tour.
- Visit the site of the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the original Seven Wonders of the World. Erected in 290 B.C., this hulking bronze-and-iron statue of the Greek sun god Helios stood for just 54 years before an earthquake felled it. It laid in disrepair, in fulfillment of an oracle, for centuries until invading forces melted it down.
- See Rhodes’ harborside windmills before walking to the UNESCO-listed Medieval City, where Gothic and Ottoman architecture beautifully coexist. Learn how the walled town was built on the order of Saint John of Jerusalem and how various groups, from Italians to Ottomans, have called it home over the centuries.
- Walk up the cobbled Street of the Knights to the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes: an enormous structure adorned with towers, arched gates, and statues.
After checking in and freshening up at your hotel, reconvene for tonight’s included dinner, served with beer or wine.
Day 5: Free day on Rhodes
Included meal: Breakfast
To admire the jewel of the Dodecanese—and catch some sweet Mediterranean rays—add our optional excursion to the nearby island of Symi. If you’d rather stay on dry land, use your free time to visit the Acropolis of Rhodes, a collection of archaeological sites in full view of the sea.
Day 6: Apolloniatisses, cooking class & wine tasting
Included meals: Breakfast, Tasting, Lunch, Wine tasting
Climb aboard your bus and head beyond Rhodes to the hill town of Apollona. There, you’ll link up with the pioneering women behind Apolloniatisses, the first cooperative of its kind in the Dodecanese.
- Hear Apolloniatisses’ story, from its founding in 2005 to its present work of creating sustainable employment for the women of the village and promoting Rhodian traditions and culture.
- Snack on homemade sweets, including melekouni—Rhodes’ most famous dessert. Crunchy and sweet, it’s made by binding sesame seeds, citrus, and spices with thyme honey.
- Browse their collection of handcrafted goods. If something catches your eye, consider taking it home—you’ll support their mission and leave with a one-of-a-kind souvenir.
Ready to get your hands dirty? After returning to Rhodes, meet a group of culinary experts for an immersive cooking class. You’ll uncover the secrets behind dolmades (rice-stuffed vine leaves), tiropita (a feta-and-phyllo pie), and other delectable Greek dishes before discovering your favorite local vintage during a guided wine tasting. Afterward, sit down as a group to enjoy your creations, along with other plates, during an included lunch.
Please note: Groups larger than 25 will be split in two for the cooking class.
Crete3 nights
Day 7: Flight to Heraklion & sightseeing tour
Included meals: Breakfast, Tasting
Fly over the Sea of Crete to Heraklion—an ancient port that was once the hub of the Minoans, Europe’s first civilization. Roll into town and enjoy an included lunch before setting off on a guided tour.
- Enter the Old Market, or Agora, to sample traditional cheeses from villages around Crete.
- Visit the ruins of the Bronze Age palace of Knossos. Part administrative center, part place of worship, it held a special place at the heart of Minoan culture (and was where, according to the myth, King Minos imprisoned the Minotaur in the heart of a labyrinth).
- Return to Heraklion and explore at your leisure. For a helping of history spiced with an ocean breeze, head to the Venetian Port and spy the Koules—a 16th-century fort guarding the approach to Heraklion’s harbor.
Please note: Depending on flight schedules, your tour of Heraklion may take place on day 8.
Day 8: Heraklion wine country
Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Wine tasting
Draped over the mountains of central Crete, the vineyards outside Heraklion generate roughly three-quarters of the island’s wine—and some of the finest vintages in all of Greece. Today, you’ll head for those fertile hills and make a pair of stops.
- Visit Archanes—a village that once served as the summer residence of the Minoan kings. There, enter the Aretousa weaving cooperative, a women-led organization dedicated to preserving Cretan textile-making traditions for future generations. Watch as artisans spin away at their looms, their fingers dancing across the yarn.
- Pass through the village of Meleses en route to Domaine Paterianakis, a vineyard specializing in local varietals. Owned by the Paterianakis family for decades, it has operated under the careful, capable leadership of sisters Emmanuela and Niki since 2012.
- After touring the property, pause for an included lunch and sommelier-led tasting. The stars of the show: kotsifali, a red grape indigenous to Crete; mandilaria, another red grown throughout the Greek Isles; and malvasia, a Mediterranean varietal used in everything from dry whites to dessert wines.
Day 9: Free day on Crete
Included meal: Breakfast
Rethymno is a place where Venetian and Turkish influences collide, where family farms greet visitors like beloved relatives—and where you could spend a day if you add our optional outing to your itinerary. If you choose to stay behind, consider visiting the Museum of Ancient Greek Technology for insight into the beginning of scientific engineering. (And there’s always the option of laying out with your friends on a nearby beach!)
Piraeus1 night
Day 10: Flight to Athens & transfer to Piraeus
Included meals: Breakfast, Farewell dinner
Bid Crete antio (Greek for “farewell”) before flying back to Athens, then transfer to Piraeus, an old port city squeezed between the capital and the Saronic Gulf. There, you’ll check into your downtown hotel—surrounded by parks and restaurants—and have time to recharge before coming together one last time for a farewell dinner, served with beer or wine.
Flight Home
Day 11: Departure
Included meal: Breakfast (excluding early morning departures)
Transfer to the airport for your flight home. Want to keep the magic going? Add our extension to Meteora and Delphi to dive into the mythology that underpins the nation.
Meteora, Delphi & the Athens Riviera extension
Throughout epochs and across religions, mainland Greece has been considered a holy land. On this three-night extension, you’ll examine the impact women have had on two of its most influential sites. Begin by transferring to Meteora, home to a cluster of precipice-perched monasteries, and entering an Eastern Orthodox nunnery for a chat. Then, go to Delphi—once the seat of the high priestess Pythia, whose prophecies were sought by peasants and princes alike—before winding down on the Athens Riviera.
Meteora Region1 night
Day 11: Transfer to Meteora region & sightseeing tour
Included meal: Breakfast
Today, travel to the Pindus mountain range—the spine of Greece—and arrive in the remote village of Kalambaka. Then, take a guided walking tour of the Meteora monasteries, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Isolated atop towering, sandstone cliffs, the six surviving monasteries date back to the 14th century, when they were established by Orthodox Christian hermit monks.
- Enter two monasteries, such as the Monastery of Roussanou, the Monastery of Agios Stefanos, or the Monastery of Varlaam.
- Meet with local nuns to learn about the tenets and traditions of Eastern Orthodox Christianity—the beliefs followed by this branch of the faith, the daily lives of initiates, and the work monks do at monasteries.
Please note: You must cover your shoulders and knees when visiting the Meteora monasteries.
Delphi Region1 night
Day 12: Transfer to Delphi & sightseeing tour
Included meal: Breakfast
Journey to the slopes of Mount Parnassus and visit the Archaeological Site of Delphi. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this spiritual focal point was believed by Ancient Greeks to be the Navel of the Earth, the center of our world.
- Embark on a guided tour and stop at the Temple of Apollo, where, according to legend, the god Apollo once spoke in prophecy to mortals through the voice of the oracle and high priestess Pythia.
- Take time to explore the ancient treasures of the Delphi Museum. Its greatest prize: the Charioteer of Delphi, a life-sized bronze statue unearthed almost entirely intact.
Spend a free evening relaxing in the Delphi region or add our optional outing to Arachova, a picturesque mountain village blanketed with terraced homes and Byzantine churches.
Athens Riviera1 night
Day 13: Athens Riviera via Monastery of Hosios Loukas
Included meal: Breakfast
Head to the country surrounding the Boeotian town of Distomo for a guided tour of Hosios Loukas, a UNESCO-listed monastery that’s revered as a prime example of Middle Byzantine architecture and art.
After admiring its age-old mosaics, hit the road for the Athens Riviera, stopping along the way at the somber Monument to the Fallen. It honors the 136 Greek victims of a Nazi war crime carried out at Karakolithos—this unassuming spot along a mountain road.
Reflect on the site and watch the scenery roll past your window as you finish your journey. Once you pull into the Athens Riviera, check into your hotel and kick your feet up for a spell. Tonight, you’ll raise a glass with your fellow travelers and toast your tour with a farewell drink.
Flight Home
Day 14: Departure
Included meal: Breakfast (excluding early morning departures)
Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
