Itinerary

Honolulu, Oahu3 nights
Day 1: Arrival in Honolulu
Included meal: Welcome dinner
Welcome to Hawaii! Descend from the skies and touch down on Oahu, a volcanic outcrop rising to greet you out of the Pacific Ocean. Take a shuttle to your hotel in Waikiki, the island’s famous beachfront neighborhood, and settle in. Then, get to know the rest of your group during a welcome dinner, served with beer or wine.
Day 2: Sightseeing tour of Oahu
Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch
A nexus of Polynesian culture. A somber reminder of the horrors of war. A paradise for nature lovers. Oahu, Hawaii’s most populous island, is all these things—and with your Tour Director in the lead, you’ll see each of those sides.
- Head to Pearl Harbor—the site of the infamous surprise bombing that pushed the U.S. to join World War II—and watch a short film about the event.
- Board a boat and motor to the USS Arizona Memorial, built directly above the wreckage of this once-fearsome battleship. There, you’ll take an hour-long guided tour and learn about the vessel’s ultimate demise.
After an included lunch at a local restaurant, head to the Bishop Museum. Named after local philanthropist Bernice Pauahi Bishop, its exhibits cover everything from Hawaiian customs to the islands’ natural heritage. Then, swap urban Honolulu for the natural treasures of Oahu’s eastern reaches. As your Tour Director leads you on some sightseeing, savor the sensation of the ocean breeze—along with these views.
- Stop at Nu’uanu Pali. More than a scenic overlook, this cliff marks the spot where Kamehameha I fought a fierce battle on his drive to conquer the Hawaiian Islands.
- Venture up Makapu’u Point and drink in the panorama playing out below. (You might even spot the island of Molokai in the distance, clear across the Kaiwi Channel.)
- Watch the sea’s salty water jet through the Halona Blowhole, spouting into the sky through a millennia-old lava tube.
- Drive along the coast, passing pristine Hanauma Bay and looking on as Diamond Head—Oahu’s iconic, immense volcano—looms closer.
Please note: The order of the day’s activities is subject to change. Additionally, the boat taxi to and the guided tour of the USS Arizona Memorial both depend on the weather and other on-site restrictions. As such, we can’t guarantee that part of the itinerary.
Day 3: Free day in Honolulu
Included meal: Breakfast
Today is yours to do as you please, making it the perfect opportunity to spend hours lounging on Oahu’s sugary sands. Add the evening’s optional excursion to your itinerary, and you can keep relaxing, mai tai in hand, as the sun dips below the horizon during a dinner cruise.
Hilo, Big Island1 night
Day 4: Flight to Hilo & sightseeing tour
Included meal: Breakfast
This morning, hop on a quick flight from Oahu to Hawaii—the Big Island. Your destination: Hilo, a settlement nestled up against the crescent-shaped shore of its namesake bay. After shaking off your travels, hit the town with your Tour Director for some sightseeing.
- Look out over Rainbow Falls. Though short compared to other cascades, it dazzles in a different way: You can spot a constant rainbow floating in its mist, inspiring its Hawaiian name, Waianuenue—literally, “rainbow water.”
- Relish a moment of respite as you walk through the Liliuokalani Park and Gardens. Created on land donated by Hawaii’s last monarch, its 30 acres contain Japanese-style gardens, a tea house, and more.
- Catch a glimpse of Coconut Island, a tiny islet popular for picnicking. Its traditional name, Moku Ola, means “island of life”: An old Hawaiian legend maintains that any illness could be cured by swimming around it three times.
Wrap up your tour at the local market, then take the rest of the afternoon to yourself. You can browse its shops—or, if you’re up for it, go for a walk and explore the Hilo Bayfront.
Kona, Big Island2 nights
Day 5: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park & Pu’uhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park
Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Tasting
You’ll end the day in Kona, the epicenter of Hawaii’s celebrated coffee industry—but before arriving, you’ll detour south to visit a pair of the Big Island’s prized parks.
- Drive into Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, then head up Kilauea—one of the world’s most active volcanoes—to peer into its caldera. Indigenous Hawaiian beliefs held that Pele, goddess of fire, resided there; with near-constant eruptions since 1983, she’s still making her presence known.
- Dig into an included lunch at a local restaurant, then transfer to the Pu’uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park via the black sands of Punalu’u Beach. You’ll also pop into a cafe for a taste of genuine Kona coffee and discover how the Big Island’s volcanic terrain creates the ideal conditions for coffee cultivation.
- Walk the hallowed grounds of Pu’uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park. Rebuilt villages and holy sites illustrate how, until the early 1800s, the area was a haven for defeated warriors and others who broke kapu—the island’s ancient code of conduct.
Day 6: Free day in Kona
Included meals: Breakfast, Dinner
How will you spend your free day in Kona? To once again take to Hawaii’s welcoming waters, add our optional snorkeling outing to Kealakekua Bay to your itinerary. If you’d rather stay on dry land, maybe organize a coffee farm tour for yourself and your new friends.
Either way, you’ll rejoin your group in the evening at an authentic luau and tuck into an included three-course dinner.
Kaanapali, Maui3 nights
Day 7: Flight to Maui
Included meal: Breakfast
Take a zippy flight to Maui, the next island up the Hawaiian archipelago, then drive to the resort town of Kaanapali. After checking into your hotel, use the rest of your day to unwind—and what better place to do it than on a golden beach?
Please note: Depending on availability, your flight may depart in either the morning or the afternoon.
Day 8: Haleakala National Park visit
Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Tasting
Sprawling over more than 75% of the island and soaring more than 10,000 feet into the air, dormant Haleakala is Maui’s defining feature. Today, your Tour Director will guide you across the slopes of its eponymous national park.
- Stop at the Haleakala Visitor Center—some 9,740 feet above sea level—and look out over the volcano’s crater.
- Chow down on an included lunch at a local restaurant, then visit a farm on Haleakala. The higher elevation lets planters grow a wider variety of crops—and the view of the Pacific Ocean is nice, too.
- Learn about pineapple cultivation on the farm, then finish your tour with a tasting of some of the fresh fruit.
Day 9: Free day on Maui
Included meals: Breakfast, Farewell dinner
What the Big Island is to coffee, Maui is to chocolate—and if you add today’s optional excursion to your itinerary, you’ll trace local cacao from bean to bar before sampling some award-winning sweets.
Hanging back in town? Consider making use of your resort’s amenities and maybe treat yourself to a spa service if one’s available.
Whatever you choose, you’ll come together with your group for one last night in paradise. Sit down to a farewell dinner, served with beer or wine, and reminisce about your favorite moments on tour.
Overnight Flight1 night
Day 10: Departure
Included meal: Breakfast
Ease into your final Hawaiian morning (and squeeze in some extra beach time if you’d like), then head to the airport for your overnight flight home. Don’t think you’ll be ready to leave? Extend your trip to Kauai to unplug on the verdant slopes of the Garden Isle.

Kauai extension
A splash of green in an expanse of blue, Kauai rejoices in relaxation. Besides the abundant rainforests and jaw-dropping landmarks that are its calling cards (looking at you, Waimea Canyon), the island possesses a laid-back attitude that distinguishes it from its neighbors. Over three days, you’ll embrace that approach to life.
Kauai3 nights
Day 10: Flight to Kauai
Included meal: Breakfast
While some of your groupmates prepare for their journeys home, you’ll hop on a flight to Kauai—the lush Garden Isle and the oldest of the main Hawaiian Islands. Once you touch down, transfer to your hotel and spend a relaxing evening in.
Day 11: Free day in Kauai
Included meal: Breakfast
With no group activities scheduled, today’s what you make of it—whether that’s oceanfront relaxation, a spirited hike through the mountains, or whatever else piques your interest. And don’t forget to ask your Tour Director for recommendations!
Day 12: Waimea Canyon & Hanapepe Valley
Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Today, shift your focus to Kauai’s rugged inlands, beginning with a visit to Waimea Canyon. Dubbed the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” this gorge plunges up to 3,000 feet deep in places; take in its majesty from multiple vantage points and marvel at the interplay of emerald foliage, sandy red rocks, and foaming white waterfalls.
Before sitting down to an included lunch, make a pitstop in Hanapepe town and continue to Kokeʻe State Park where you can take a nature walk surrounded by Hawaiian plants or visit the Kokeʻe Natural History Museum. You’ll end your day on a (literal) high note at the Hanapepe Valley Lookout, where your perch affords sweeping shots of Kauai’s jagged mountains.
