Nature & Wildlife Tours

Wildlife Tours feature opportunities to view wildlife in their natural habitat, learn about the flora, fauna, and ecology of a region, as well as interact with local communities in the destinations you visit. Each tour also includes a focus on conservation and preservation efforts, which you’ll discuss with your Tour Director, local guide, expert naturalist, or park ranger. You can always count on a small group of 10–22 travelers on Wildlife Tours.

A Wildlife Tour is all about meaningful encounters with animals in their natural habitats. These tours are led by expert guides who help you spot and understand the behavior of the creatures you’re seeing, while also sharing insights into the ecosystems they call home. Every itinerary is designed with responsible tourism in mind, so your experience supports conservation efforts and respects the wildlife and local communities.

We look to best practices from leading animal protection organizations to help us implement animal welfare guidelines into all of our itineraries. This helps us make sure that none of our on-tour activities are exploitative to animals, and allow us to identify opportunities to share vital insights with our travelers.

By visiting rescue agencies, conservancy groups, and animal sanctuaries on tour, we help fund organizations that are effecting positive change for animals. Spending time in these places, and with the experts who run them, allows us to learn about vulnerable animal populations and what we all can do to help them, too.

Packing for a Wildlife Tour can feel intimidating but a few simple tips can get you prepared!

• Lightweight, loose-fitting clothing that can be easily layered is always recommended.
• Always bring a sturdy pair of walking shoes.
• A sun hat, sunglasses, and rain gear will help you stay comfortable in all types of weather.
• Sunscreen, insect repellent, hand sanitizer, and binoculars are other must-haves while on tour.
• When packing for African safari trips, remember that luggage restrictions on game drives are strictly enforced. You’ll need to bring a soft, flexible duffle—hard suitcases are forbidden on safari vehicles to ensure everyone’s comfort and safety. Because of this, you’ll want to pack light.
• One expert tip? Wear muted or light-colored clothing, as brighter colors can scare animals away.
