What our travelers say about their tours to Turkey

Far exceeded my expectations!

I knew nothing about Turkey prior to arriving but truly had a trip of a lifetime. We had an amazing guide, Mehmet, who taught us so much about each place we visited. I loved every minute!

I absolutely fell in love with Turkey. From the food, to the people and the amazing sigh seeing we did. Our tour guide Mehmet was amazing as well, he was very passionate about his job and had so much knowledge to share. He was did so much more than guide us around Turkey, he made the trip memorable.

Surprising Turkey
10/11/19 by 20th-time traveler Vickie
Turkey is surprisingly modern, clean, interesting, friendly and safe. They were happy to welcome Americans back as visitors after being absent for several years. It's a big, nice, fascinating museum of Roman ruins, natural beauty, and architectural works of art.

Fabulous Grand Tour of Turkey

I had been to Istanbul before and found the old city a wonderful place to explore. But Turkey as a whole exceeded my expectations. All in all an experience I will cherish for a very long time. I will definitely recommend to my friends.

Amazing Experience

Plenty of people thought I was crazy for travelling to Turkey. What is there to do or see in Turkey, everyone asked. The truth is, there is so much you don't even realize it. From Greco-Roman ruins, amazing food experiences, beaches, unreal landscapes and unforgettable sunsets.

Travel tips for Turkey trips

When is the best time of year to visit Turkey?

Turkey has seven geographic weather and climatic regions. So, travelers deciding when to plan trips to Turkey should consider where they want to go and what they want to see.

With temperatures typically ranging between the high-60s and the mid-80s, April, May, September, and October are popular months for Turkey tours.

Travelers who want to lounge on the country’s beaches often time their Turkey trips for June through September, when temperatures hover in the mid- to upper-80s.

Late-October through March bring much colder temperatures, and many coastal hotels and resorts close during those months. This is also the time of year when there are fewer crowds in the major cities, making it the perfect time to explore places like Istanbul.

What are some interesting things to do on a trip to Turkey?

Most travelers’ Turkey tours include a visit to Istanbul, the country’s capital city, and with good reason. It’s home to breathtakingly beautiful structures such as the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia, plus lively taverns, restaurants, and shopping bazaars. For an itinerary packed with food, scenery, and history, follow our guide to spending 48 hours in Istanbul.

What should I pack for a tour to Turkey?

Because of the country’s diverse landscapes, cultural offerings, and topography, many Turkey tours, like our Grand Tour of Turkey, cover a lot of ground. Be sure to pack comfortable walking shoes, plus clothing you can layer.

Many tours to Turkey include visits to mosques and other religious sites, so pack pants, long skirts, and shirts that keep shoulders, upper arms, chests, and legs covered. Women are required to cover their heads when visiting mosques, so a light wrap or shawl will come in handy, too.

What should I know before traveling to Turkey?

Plan to visit the ATM before your guided tour to Turkey begins. Although credit cards are widely accepted in major cities like Istanbul and Ankara, tours of Turkey often include visits to more rural areas, where many vendors only accept cash. Plus, having some Turkish lira and kuruş will come in handy for taxi rides, tips, and using public restrooms.

Cats and dogs roam freely in many places throughout Turkey, but there’s typically no need to fear them. Locals often take care of—even revere—their furry friends, so the animals tend to be friendly.
