Treat yourself to one magical week, three vibrant Spanish cities, and infinite new memories.

Get to know three distinctly different sides of Spain as you spend a week exploring a trio of exciting cities alongside other solo travelers. Barcelona, the cosmopolitan coastal capital of the Catalonia region, bursts at its seams with whimsical works of art and architecture. Madrid, Spain’s sprawling capital, is chock-full of bustling food markets, world-class museums, and royal history. And in Seville, the Andalusian capital, historic churches, grand palaces, Moorish buildings, and flamenco performances await. Want to experience a more laid-back side of Spain, too? Extend your tour and head south. You’ll visit Granada—a city nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains—and Malaga, a charming port city on the Costa del Sol.

Your tour package includes

  • 7 nights in a private room at handpicked hotels

Itinerary

Overnight Flight

Day 1: Travel day

Board your overnight flight to Barcelona today.

Barcelona

Day 2: Arrival in Barcelona

Included meal: Welcome dinner

Welcome to Spain! Transfer to your hotel and settle in. Then, gather with your Tour Director and fellow group members at a mixer before enjoying a welcome dinner, served with beer or wine.

Granada & Málaga extension

Join your fellow solo travelers and head south to experience the peaks and shores of the Costa del Sol. Nestled at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, the Andalusian city of Granada is home to a dazzling array of structures dating to the Moorish period—most notably the Alhambra. Stop to explore charming mountain villages and sample specialties like jamon serrano as you make your way to Malaga, a port city and Picasso’s hometown. There, marvel at the ruins of an ancient Roman theater and perhaps duck into a cozy bar or restaurant to sample some of the flavors the city is known for.

Granada

Day 9: Transfer to Granada & sightseeing tour of the Alhambra

Included meal: Breakfast

Head south toward Granada, where you’ll take a guided tour of the UNESCO-recognized Alhambra, the Moorish sultans’ last stronghold in Spain. The massive fortress complex is an important relic of Islamic rule in the region—it fell to the Catholic monarchs in 1492—and that history is evident in the city’s architecture, culture, and traditions.

  • Walk along the Promenade of the Cypress Trees to view the Generalife, the former gardens and summer palace of Spain’s Nasrid rulers.
  • View the uniquely curved, Roman-style courtyard inside the Palace of Charles V, another holdover from the Nasrid dynasty.
  • Admire the blend of Western art and Islamic design as you stroll through ornamented courtyards bursting with myrtle bushes, roses, orange trees, and aromatic herbs—all planted so that the gardens remain colorful and fragrant throughout the year.
  • Enter the Nasrid Palaces and see the Mexuar, the hall where the Sultan would meet with his council and subjects. Look for quintessential Moorish elements like stucco work, geometric patterns, and ornamented vaulting in the stalactite-like ceiling.
  • See where the royal family lived during visits to Comares Palace and the Court of the Lions.

Please note: The order of activities is subject to change.Travelers should have their passport information confirmed at least 90 days prior to departure to ensure we can secure tickets for entrance to the Alhambra.

Málaga

Day 10: Alpujarra villages of the Sierra Nevada mountains & sightseeing tour of Malaga

Included meals: Breakfast, Tasting

Visit several villages in the Alpujarra region of the Sierra Nevada mountain range—home to the highest peak on the Iberian Peninsula. The region was one of the last Moorish strongholds in Spain, and you can still see the Islamic influence in the terraced agriculture and architecture.

  • Meet your local guide in Orgiva, a bustling market town and melting pot of various communities living the rural Spanish lifestyle.
  • Travel to Pampaneira, a mountain village known for its ceramics, leather, and clothing.
  • Make your way to Trevelez, one of the highest villages in the Sierra Nevadas, known for its production of ham, and stop for a tasting of locally produced jamon serrano.

Continue to Malaga and get to know the port city on a sightseeing tour. The birthplace of artist Pablo Picasso is a beachy jewel along the Mediterranean and boasts a thriving art scene and dreamy waterfront promenade.

  • View the Malaga Cathedral, nicknamed the One-Armed Woman for its incomplete second tower.
  • Learn about the city’s history as you view its ancient Roman theater, originally built in the first century A.D.
  • Marvel at the hilltop palace of Alcazaba, which has served as a royal residence and military structure. The Moorish fortress’ walls remain remarkably preserved—not bad for a complex built (and rebuilt) between the 10th and 15th centuries.

Day 11: Free day in Malaga

Included meals: Breakfast, Farewell dinner

For a few hours of “how did they do that?” add our optional excursion to your itinerary and head inland to explore the dramatic cliffside towns of Ronda and Setenil de las Bodegas.

If you prefer to stay in Malaga, you can pop into the Picasso Museum or the Centre Pompidou Malaga to spend the day immersed in art.

Rejoin your group this evening and celebrate your trip together at a farewell paella feast, where you’ll raise a glass of beer or wine to your adventures.

Flight Home

Day 12: Departure

Included meal: Breakfast (excluding early morning departures)

Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
