Madrid2 nights
Day 2: Arrival in Madrid
Included meal: Welcome dinner
Bienvenidos! Welcome to Spain. After clearing customs, make your way to your hotel. You’ll have time to relax—and perhaps get a head start on sightseeing—before tonight’s welcome dinner. Get to know your fellow travelers over your choice of beer or wine, then call it a night.
Day 3: Sightseeing tour of Madrid
Included meals: Breakfast, Tasting
Spain’s beating heart, the cosmopolitan capital of Madrid has anchored the Iberian Peninsula since the 8th century A.D. It’s a massive place, popular with travelers—but with a well-timed trip and little help from a local guide, you’ll get a feel for the city’s true character.
- View the Royal Palace, Spain’s largest royal residence and a Baroque stunner complete with grand facades and sprawling gardens.
- Pass by the Temple of Debod, a reassembled temple from ancient Egypt, given as a gift to Spain in recognition for the country’s aid in saving the Abu Simbel temples from destruction. Madrid’s skyline unfolds from this vantage point, a serene oasis amidst the city.
- See the city’s many squares, including Plaza Colon and Plaza de Neptuno. You’re in for a treat, with enormous fountains and quaint cafes offering prime people-watching opportunities.
- End in the Old Town, nicknamed the Madrid of the Austrias thanks to its historic link to the Habsburg Dynasty. As you wind your way past centuries-old restaurants and taverns, pop into one for a tasting of some beloved local bites.
What’s a trip to Spain without a deep dive into tapas culture? Tack this evening’s optional excursion onto your itinerary to take part in a professional-led cooking class. If you’d rather spend some time on your own, make a beeline to La Latina, an old neighborhood known for its tapas bars. Patatas bravas, croquetas, jamon iberico—these small plates are big on flavor.
Please note: Groups larger than 25 will be split during the sightseeing tour.
Granada2 nights
Day 4: Granada via Cordoba
Included meal: Breakfast
Settle aboard a high-speed AVE train this morning and enjoy the ride to the Andalusian city of Cordoba, once an important Roman outpost and a major Islamic center in the Middle Ages. Once you pull into your station, strike out into town for a guided sightseeing tour.
- Pass by the Roman Bridge. Constructed in the first century B.C., this stone span crosses the Guadalquivir River and stuns with its 16 irregularly patterned arches.
- View the medieval Albolafia, one of several historic watermills in the city. A remnant of the city’s Islamic era, it could date as far back as the ninth century—though its exact history is still not clear.
- Enter the Mezquita-Catedral de Cordoba, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built in the eighth century as a mosque and then converted into a cathedral during the Reconquista. Peep its graceful arches, intricate mosaics, and peaceful courtyard.
Afterward, make your way to your bus and continue to Granada, where you’ll have an evening to yourself.
Please note: A porterage service will transfer your bigger bags directly from Madrid to Granada. You should pack everything you’ll need for the day in your personal item.
Day 5: Sightseeing tour of the Alhambra
Included meal: Breakfast
Formerly the last Moorish stronghold in Spain, the Alhambra fortress complex is an important relic of Islamic rule in the region. Today, you’ll take a guided tour of this UNESCO-recognized landmark—without the crowds that usually roam its halls.
- Walk along the Promenade of the Cypress Trees to view the Generalife, the former gardens and summer palace of Spain’s Nasrid rulers.
- View the uniquely curved, Roman-style courtyard inside the Palace of Charles V, another holdover from the Nasrids.
- Admire the blend of Western art and Islamic design as you stroll through courtyards bursting with myrtle bushes, roses, orange trees, and aromatic herbs—all planted to remain colorful and fragrant throughout the year.
- Enter the Nasrid Palaces and see the Mexuar, the hall where the Sultan would meet with his council and subjects. Look for quintessential Moorish elements like stucco work, geometric patterns, and ornamented vaulting in the stalactite-like ceiling.
- See where the royal family lived during visits to Comares Palace and the Court of the Lions.
Heart-stopping and soul-stirring, a flamenco show combines flamboyant singing, dancing, and clapping. Add tonight’s optional outing to your itinerary to spend an unforgettable few hours in a hillside cave, taking in a performance of Andalusia’s quintessential art. If you’re taking the evening for yourself, consider checking out the Albayzin—a UNESCO-recognized district in its own right.
Please note: The order of today’s activities may change. Also, you should confirm your passport information at least 90 days prior to departures to ensure we can secure your ticket to the Alhambra.
Seville2 nights
Day 6: Seville via Antequera & olive oil farm
Included meals: Breakfast, Tasting
Kick off your day with a morning visit to medieval Antequera—the heart of Andalusia. Grab a bite to eat, then use the rest of your free time to explore its historic center. Afterward, make your way to Seville, stopping en route to discover some of the flavors of Andalusia at a hacienda, or family-owned estate, that specializes in olive oil.
- Join a local guide for a tour of the farm’s groves, mill, and cellar to learn about the delicate art of olive cultivation—from planting to harvesting to pressing.
- Drizzle orange-infused olive oil onto a scoop of chocolate gelato for an unexpected flavor combination.
- Enjoy free time to shop for souvenirs that’ll let you savor the memories of your vacation.
Finally, arrive in Seville, settle into your hotel, and spend the rest of the evening at your leisure.
Day 7: Sightseeing tour of Seville
Included meals: Breakfast, Farewell dinner
Visiting Seville off-peak may help turn down the heat, but the city loses none of its fire. Uncover the passion and beauty of Andalusia’s capital on a guided sightseeing tour and spend a day floating between historic churches and buildings.
- View the tiled pavilion of the Plaza de Espana, a massive, semi-circular brick structure built in the Renaissance and neo-Moorish styles for the 1929 Ibero-American Exhibition.
- Pass the brilliant homes of the Barrio de Santa Cruz, a popular neighborhood known for its cobblestone streets, narrow alleys, and tiled benches.
- Admire Seville Cathedral, one of the largest Gothic churches in the world. Awesome in scale, this 16th-century architectural marvel also contains artworks by Goya and Murillo, as well as an enormous and richly decorated central altarpiece. The Giralda, originally a minaret from a mosque that once stood on the site, was converted into a bell tower for the cathedral and offers panoramic views of Seville.
Later tonight, celebrate your trip with your group at a farewell dinner, served with beer or wine.
Flight Home
Day 8: Departure
Included meal: Breakfast (excluding early morning departures)
Transfer to the airport for your flight home, or hang back in Seville for a few more days. You’ll get to visit seaside Cadiz, too—all the more reason to leave your bag unpacked.
Seville extension
More than a top-tier destination, Seville doubles as the ideal basecamp for a foray into Andalusia. This extension accommodates both: You’ll drink in more of the city’s whitewashed buildings, wrought-iron balconies, and whimsically colored tiles before taking a day trip to ancient Cadiz. Its Phoenician heritage, Roman ruins, and Atlantic views add a dash of coastal flair to a tour brimming with iconic sights. (And did we mention the Sherry?)
Seville2 nights
Day 8: Free day in Seville
Included meal: Breakfast
What’s a trip to Spain without a deep dive into tapas culture? Opt into an afternoon tasting tour to journey through the Triana neighborhood, stopping to sip and savor as you go. Prefer to explore on your own? Head to a rooftop bar, take a stroll along the beautifully lit Guadalquivir River, or find a night market for authentic street eats and live music.
Day 9: Sightseeing tour of Cadiz
Included meals: Breakfast, Wine tasting
Connected to the Spanish mainland by a skinny strip of beach, dotted with more than 100 watchtowers, Cadiz is one of Western Europe’s oldest continually inhabited cities. With a local guide in the lead, you’ll dig into its history as you walk through the Old Town, tracing Cadiz’s evolution back to its beginnings as a Phoenician port.
- Pass the Plaza de San Juan de Dios—home of the part-Neoclassic, part-Gothic City Hall—and the half-excavated ruins of a Roman theater that once sat 20,000 spectators.
- Enter Cadiz Cathedral. Though construction began in 1722, its eclectic mix of architectural styles took more than a century to hone. Gaze at its spacious, white stone interior—and if you’re up for it, climb the Levante Tower for 360-degree views of the city and the sea.
- Pop into a local tavern to taste some Sherry, a denomination-protected fortified wine only made in Spain. Its flavors range from crisp and dry to creamy and sweet; let it linger on your tongue and see what notes you pick out.
Finally, leave your local guide at the Mercado Central, where you’ll have free time for lunch (and maybe a spot of shopping) before returning to Seville. Tonight, you’ll share a round of farewell drinks with your groupmates.
Flight Home
Day 10: Departure

FAQ
- In order to enter Spain, U.S. and Canadian citizens need a valid passport with an expiration date extending at least six months beyond the date of reentry.
- We recommend having at least one blank passport page for entry stamps.
- Beginning in 2026, U.S. and Canadian passport holders must register for an ETIAS travel authorization in order to enter many European countries.
- Passport holders from over 60 visa-exempt countries (including the U.S. and Canada) will need to apply for an ETIAS travel authorization in order to visit 30 European countries. That means that even if you’ve previously traveled to any of these European countries without a visa, starting in 2026, you’ll need to get ETIAS authorization to visit them again. If you’re traveling to multiple countries with this requirement, you only need to complete the form once. All Go Ahead travelers are responsible for obtaining their own ETIAS travel authorization before departure. For more details, please visit our Help Center.
- Spain requires specific traveler information be reported to the Ministry of the Interior. Please make sure that all travelers in your party have saved their full passport details, home address, phone number, and email address in their online accounts. This information will then be submitted to the Ministry by your hotel accommodations. Travelers who fail to provide this information may face a high fine from the Ministry for non-compliance.
- If you are not a U.S. or Canadian citizen, you must contact your destination country’s consulate for your specific entry requirements.
- Round-trip flights booked through Go Ahead Tours arrive in Madrid and depart from Seville.
- Transfers to and from the airport at the beginning and end of the tour are included for travelers who purchased their flights through Go Ahead Tours. Travelers who booked their own flights are responsible for securing their own airport transfers.
- When you arrive in Madrid, a Go Ahead representative will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall with a Go Ahead sign or a sign with your name(s). If you don’t see a representative immediately, please be patient and stay in the arrivals area. They may be assisting another traveler who has also just arrived and will be back shortly.

Tour Pacing

- Most transportation by motor coach
- Occasional transportation by train
