Day 2: Arrival in Dublin
Included meal: Welcome dinner
Failte! (Pronounced “FALL-cha,” this expression means “welcome” in Irish, and you might hear it a fair bit over the next few days.) Head to your hotel and settle in, then get to know your Tour Director and fellow travelers over a welcome dinner, served with beer or wine.
Day 3: Walking tour of Dublin
Included meals: Breakfast, Tasting
Settled by the Gaels and disputed for centuries by the Vikings and Anglo-Normans, Dublin traces its history back more than 1,300 years. With help from a local expert, you’ll dig into its more recent past on today’s guided sightseeing tour.
- Pass the manicured lawns of St. Stephen’s Green, a Victorian park in the heart of old Dublin, and stroll down Grafton Street. Flanked by stores and dotted with buskers, this car-free area is one of the city‘s main shopping zones.
- Pop into Butlers Chocolates for an included tasting. Since 1932, this local institution has created some of Ireland’s finest sweets; indulge in each bite before returning to Grafton Street.
- Walk the dignified campus of Trinity College, alma mater of notables from Samuel Beckett to Bram Stoker, and enter its library to admire the famous Book of Kells—a beautifully illuminated manuscript containing the four Celtic Gospels in Latin.
Afterward, round out your day with song, dance, and dinner by adding our optional outing to your itinerary. If you’d prefer some free time instead, head down to the shores of the River Liffey and breathe in the ambiance of the lively Temple Bar district.
Day 4: ❇️ Teeling Whiskey Distillery or EPIC Irish Emigration Museum
Included meal: Breakfast
Take it easy during your free morning, and maybe head into town for a proper Irish breakfast—similar to its English counterpart, but with key additions like soda bread and white pudding. (Feeling a walk? Get a full Irish on a roll and eat it on the go!)
❇️ Then, fill your afternoon with one of these two included experiences:
- Best for whiskey enthusiasts: Teeling Distillery Tour. Go behind the scenes at one of Dublin’s beloved craft distilleries, then raise a glass during your included tasting of Ireland’s famous whiskey.
- Best for history lovers: EPIC Irish Emigration Museum. Discover how millions of Irish emigrants shaped cultures across the globe at this award-winning, interactive museum.
Please note: Choose your experience gives you the freedom to personalize your city experience by selecting one guided sightseeing activity from two available options—both included in your tour price. Both activities occur simultaneously, so you will need to choose just one. You can make your selection at the time of booking or any time up to 20 days before your tour departure. We encourage you to choose early, as some activities have limited availability and fill up on a first-come, first-served basis—your spot is not guaranteed until you’ve enrolled.
Day 5: Free day in Dublin
Included meal: Breakfast
Verdant cliffs dropping into blue waters. Fishing boats bobbing in humble harbors. The Howth Peninsula’s a breath of fresh air—and by adding today’s optional excursion to your itinerary, you’ll spend a few hours enjoying the landscapes beyond the city.
Or, hang back in town and check out the National Museum of Ireland in your free time. Three of its four constituent galleries can be found in Dublin, spanning everything from military history to Viking artifacts.
Day 6: Bru na Boinne, Newgrange & farm visit
Included meals: Breakfast, Tasting
After a few days in the city, take a day trip into the Irish countryside and step back in time at Bru na Boinne. Predating Stonehenge, this UNESCO-listed landscape contains Neolithic tombs and monuments, as well as Europe’s largest collection of megalithic art.
- Roam Newgrange, Bru na Boinne’s main passage tomb. This grand burial ground was made in 3100 B.C.—so long ago that it informed Irish mythology and folklore. (It’s older even than the Great Pyramid of Giza!)
- Leave the complex and head to a working farm, where your hosts will greet you with tea and either freshly baked scones or traditional brown bread.
- Cheer on the farm’s dogs as they herd flocks of sheep, guiding them from pasture to pasture with remarkable precision.
Day 7: Free day in Dublin & Guinness Storehouse
Included meals: Breakfast, Beer tasting, Farewell dinner
How will you spend your last full day in Dublin? To read deeper into the city’s literary legacy, join us on an optional themed excursion, coupled with afternoon tea—otherwise, hang back and explore on your own. If hiking Howth was a highlight of your trip, return to the peninsula and hitch a ride to Ireland’s Eye, an uninhabited island housing seabirds, seals, and the ruins of an eighth-century monastery. (Book a boat ahead of time and come prepared: Its terrain is quite rocky.)
This evening, pay a visit to St. James’s Gate—site of the legendary 260-year-old brewery behind Guinness dry stout—and take a self-guided tour of the Guinness Storehouse.
- Explore the Irish brand’s roots and growth through a series of exhibits highlighting its origins, advertising, and more.
- Head up to the top floor and enjoy your beer while soaking in 360-degree views of Dublin. Have a proper look around before taking your first sip: Draught Guinness tastes best when you give it a minute to settle.
Finally, cap your day, and your tour, with a farewell dinner, served with beer or wine.
Flight Home
Day 8: Departure
Included meal: Breakfast (excluding early morning departures)
Transfer to the airport for your flight home, or make for Northern Ireland and add another capital to your trip with our extension to Belfast.
Belfast extension
The second capital on the island of Ireland, the British outpost of Belfast starkly differs from Dublin. It’s tinged by a tumultuous past, swinging from a maritime and industrial power to the center of the Troubles. Visiting the city puts all of it into perspective, and on this extension, you’ll peel back those layers—and delight in the beauty of the surrounding countryside, if you add our outing to the Giant’s Causeway and Dark Hedges.
Belfast3 nights
Day 8: Transfer to Belfast & Titanic museum
Included meal: Breakfast
Once upon a time, Belfast produced a quarter of the United Kingdom’s shipping capacity, and close to an eighth of the world’s. Its most infamous creation: the Titanic, built in local shipyards by the Harland & Wolff company. After crossing into Northern Ireland and arriving at its capital, embark on a self-guided tour of the Titanic Belfast museum and trace the vessel’s history from hopeful conception to doomed maiden voyage.
Then, spend your first evening in town as you see fit. To discover how an industrial powerhouse evolved into a haven for street art, add our optional excursion to your itinerary. Otherwise, rest up ahead of tomorrow’s sightseeing.
Day 9: Sightseeing tour of Belfast
Included meal: Breakfast
Northern Ireland’s largest city, Belfast possesses a unique history—long, proud, and, at times, turbulent. Dip into its past today with a local guide and strike out on a sightseeing tour of the city center.
- Head for the patinated domes and sculpted walls of Belfast’s City Hall, where local leaders have met since the beginning of the 20th century, and meet your guide.
- Walk across downtown Belfast, stopping at sites central to the Troubles and listening as your guide narrates their experience growing up during the decades-long conflict.
After bidding your guide farewell, fill your free afternoon how you’d like. To slow things down a bit, consider visiting the Botanic Gardens: Pushing up against the edge of the Queen’s University Belfast campus, this 19th-century green space boasts a glass conservatory, an open-air rosarium, a museum, and more.
Day 10: Free day in Belfast
Included meal: Breakfast
For a glimpse of geometric perfection (and a panorama lifted straight from “Game of Thrones”), tack today’s optional excursion to the Giant’s Causeway and Dark Hedges onto your itinerary. If you’d rather enjoy some alone time in Belfast, pop into St. George’s Market—the last surviving covered Victorian market in the city—and browse the wares of more than 300 vendors.
Either way, you’ll reconvene as a group in the city this evening and share a farewell drink before packing for the journey home.
