  • View the Roman bridge of Córdoba, with its 16 arches, and the adjacent Albolafia watermill, which was built during the ninth century.
  • Enter the Mezquita, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built in the eighth century as a mosque and then converted into a cathedral during the Reconquista—a long period of conflict between Christians and Muslim Moors over control of the Iberian Peninsula.
  • Walk through the Old Town and the Jewish Quarter.

Day 6: Granada via Úbeda

Travel to Úbeda, an UNESCO-listed town renowned for its Renaissance architecture, handicrafts, and olive groves.

  • Stop at an olive oil farm and join a local guide for a tour of the olive groves, mill, and cellar.
  • Enjoy a tasting of the farm’s own olive oils, as well as free time to shop for local products.
  • Head into Úbeda to explore its narrow streets, pottery shops, and palaces.

Continue on to Granada and sit down for an included dinner.

Day 7: Sightseeing tour of the Alhambra

Take a guided tour of the UNESCO-recognized Alhambra, the Moorish sultans’ last stronghold in Spain.

Day 8: Málaga via Alpujarra villages of the Sierra Nevada Mountains

Visit several Alpujarra villages in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, which is home to the highest peak on the Iberian Peninsula.

  • Meet your local guide in the town of Órgiva, a bustling market town that has become a melting pot of various communities living the Spanish lifestyle.
  • Travel to Pampaneira, a mountain village known for its ceramics, leather, and clothing.
  • Make your way to Trevélez, one of the highest villages in the Sierra Nevadas and a region known for its ham, or jamón, production.
  • Stop for a tasting of locally produced Jamón Serrano.
  • Pay a visit to the seaside town of Nerja, where you can take in sweeping vistas of the Mediterranean Sea from a popular, clifftop viewing point known as the Balcony of Europe.

Continue on to Málaga and settle in at your hotel.

Discover the port city of Málaga on a guided sightseeing tour this morning.

  • View the Málaga Cathedral, nicknamed the One-Armed Woman for its incomplete second tower.
  • Learn of the city’s ancient past as you explore the ancient Roman theatre.
  • Visit the hilltop, fortified Moorish palace of Alcazaba and take in panoramic views of the city.

Day 10: Sightseeing tour of Ronda

Set off to explore the famous cliffside town of Ronda with a local guide.

  • Admire the town’s picturesque, white buildings and pass the Plaza de Toros, which was constructed in the late 1700s.
  • View the staggering Puente Nuevo, an 18th-century bridge that spans a deep gorge.
  • Walk by Mondragón Palace and enter Casa Museo Don Bosco, an historic home with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside.

Afterward, visit the unique town of Setenil de las Bodegas, part of which has been built into rock overhangs. Take time to walk through the town and its hilltop fortress, which was built by the Moors.

Return to Málaga and celebrate your trip with your group at tonight’s farewell dinner.
