Afternoon Tea the English Way

Duration
1 hour
Price
From $19.00
Group size
Up to 20 people

Join a Tour Director for a primer on afternoon tea etiquette and British traditions.

Take a (virtual) hop across the pond to meet Matt, a Tour Director and avid tea drinker. He’ll invite you into his home to fill you in on tea culture, one of the most well-known British traditions.  The history of this tradition dates back hundreds of years, as does the etiquette surrounding it. Learn all about tea time, as well as how to make and enjoy the perfect “cuppa” using the methods he swears by.  During this Online Escape, you’ll experience a Cream Tea. This particularly delicious type of afternoon tea features a typical strong English tea paired with just one course: scones. Watch as he demonstrates how he makes light, fluffy scones and the clotted cream that goes with them. Matt will share his recipes with you, so you can try making them at home sometime too. Plus, you’ll get a primer on proper afternoon tea etiquette. Hear Matt’s take on tea time’s most controversial topics: Does milk or tea get poured first? Should scones be topped with cream or jam first? Is there such a thing as too much clotted cream? Whether you’re a seasoned tea drinker or not, his responses (and expertise, of course!) are worth tuning in for.
Matt
