Day 3: Sightseeing tour of Bordeaux & cooking class

Meet up with a local guide for a tour of the UNESCO-listed historic district in Bordeaux.

  • Begin at the Monument aux Girondins and Place des Quinconces, one of the largest city squares in Europe.
  • See the Place de la Bourse before crossing over the Pont de Pierre.
  • Stop at Cours Victor Hugo and Palais Rohan.
  • Walk past the lively hub of the Place de la Comédie and the Grand Théâtre.
  • Sample local sweets, such as merveilles, canelés, or bouchons de Bordeaux, as you go.

This evening, join a local chef for a cooking class to learn how to craft French cuisine. Then, enjoy eating the meal you’ve prepared while sipping wines from the region.

Day 5: Périgueux via Saint-Émilion & Château de Monbazillac

Pass by breathtaking countryside scenery en route to the Dordogne Valley.

  • Visit Saint-Émilion, located in the Bordeaux wine region, and tour the wine cellars and vineyard located on the estate of Château de Ferrand.
  • Try the famous Grand Crus wine and learn about the vinification process.
  • Enjoy free time in the village of Saint-Émilion to eat lunch and visit the underground monuments.
  • Continue on to Château de Monbazillac in the Dordogne Valley and discover how its residents lived during medieval times as a sommelier leads a tasting of three sweet, white wines.

Day 6: Sightseeing tour of Périgueux

Take a walking tour of Périgueux with a local guide.

Day 7: Burgundy Region via Auvergne

Travel through the mountainous Auvergne region as you make your way north to the world-famous Burgundy region.

  • Sit down for a lunch featuring local specialties from the Auvergne region.
Day 8: Hospices de Beaune, wine tasting & Fallot Mustard Mill

In the heart of the Burgundy wine region sits the walled town of Beaune. Pay a visit to this quaint locale and take a guided tour of the Hospices de Beaune.

  • Learn about Nicolas Rolin, the Duke of Burgundy’s chancellor, who built the Hospices in the hope that his good works would earn him a place in heaven.
  • Discover how Rolin and his wife, Guigone de Salins, devoted their fortune to caring for the thousands who were left poor and starving after the Hundred Years’ War.
  • Enjoy a wine tasting in Beaune’s Patriarche cellars as you hear how income from the town’s vineyards, and profits from annual wine auctions, fund the organization.
  • Sit down for an included lunch at a local restaurant.

Later, pay a visit to the famous Fallot Mustard Mill.

Day 11: Food of Paris walking tour

A guided sightseeing tour introduces you to the architecture, scenery, and cuisine of the City of Light’s many neighborhoods, called arrondissements.

  • Pass the legendary Notre-Dame Cathedral, on an island in the Seine River.
  • See the Eiffel Tower, the Palais Garnier opera house, and Place de la Concorde, the city’s grandest square.
  • Marvel at the eclectic and iconic architecture of the Louvre.
  • Sample traditional French pastries and cheeses on a culinary walk through Le Marais district.
  • Walk through iconic Marché des Enfants Rouges covered market, the oldest food market in all of Paris.
  • Stop to try fresh fruit, cheese, and crepes.
  • Continue along the district’s charming streets, stopping to taste fresh pastries and macaroons.

Tonight, celebrate your trip with your group during a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.

Transfer to the airport for your flight home or extend your stay to visit the Champagne region and continue exploring Paris.

Day 12: Reims via Chantilly

On your way to Reims, part of the famous Champagne region, stop in Chantilly. You’ll tour Château de Chantilly and taste the town’s famous vanilla whipped cream during an included lunch.

Day 13: Sightseeing of Reims & Château de Boursault

Join a local guide and explore Reims, the unofficial capital of the Champagne region.

  • Visit the Gothic-style Reims Cathedral, a UNESCO-recognized site.
  • Step inside the Basilica of Saint-Rémi, the oldest church in Reims.
  • Pass by the Palace of Tau, a grand, 13th-century Gothic chapel and hall.
  • Try some Biscuit rose de Reims, a pink-hued biscuit flavored with carmine.

Head to Château de Boursault, which was built by the original owner of Veuve Clicquot, and remains one of the only châteaux in the Champagne region.
