The secret is out: Portugal is home to some of the best young golf courses in Europe. On this golf vacation to Portugal, golfers will discover continental Europe’s hidden gems as they play courses such as Oitavos Dunes, Oceanico’s Victoria Course and Monte Rei.
Golfers’ traveling companions will explore Iberian culture on included sightseeing tours to Lisbon, Cape St. Vincent and Seville. Look for the Alternative Guided Sightseeing itinerary on each day of this tour.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 - Overnight Flight
Your golf vacation begins with a regularly scheduled overnight flight to Lisbon aboard an internationally recognized airline.
Day 2 - Lisbon Area
Welcome to Portugal! A Go Ahead representative greets you at the airport and escorts you to your hotel. This evening, meet your fellow travelers at an included Welcome Dinner.
Included meals: breakfast (in flight), dinner
Day 3 - Lisbon Area
Praia D’El Rey is a hybrid links-parkland course stretching from coniferous forests to the Portuguese coast. At just 6,600 yards from the tips, Praia D’El Rey can be overpowered, particularly on the drivable par 4 13th. But this course is always in stellar condition, which means thick, entangling rough. Be sure to bring a windbreaker or a light sweater for this round: Praia D’El Rey inhabits a microclimate, and if the wind is up, you might be chilly in just a polo shirt.
Alternate guided sightseeing: Enjoy a guided tour of Lisbon, including visits to the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and the Alfama District.
Included meals: breakfast
Day 4 - Lisbon Area
Golfers will tee it up today at Oitavos Dunes. Like Praia D'El Rey, Oitavos Dunes begins in the trees, loops out toward the sea and finishes back in the forest. The par 3 14th challenges players with a carry over coastal scrub and an undulating, kidneyshaped green. This evening, join our optional Fado Dinner & Show.
Alternate guided sightseeing: Spend the morning exploring Sintra, a village called "the most beautiful in the world" by Lord Byron.

Fado Dinner & Show
Spend your evening at Lisbon tavern listening to fado. Derived from the Latin word fatum—meaning "prophecy" or "fate"—fado is Portugal’s national musical treasure. Fado's traditional theme is “saudade,” a word that doesn't quite translate to English but conveys an overwhelming sense of longing for something lost. Dinner is included during this memorable musical evening.

Day 5 - Algarve Region
This morning, transfer to the Algarve, the southernmost region of Portugal. The balance of the day is free at leisure before tonight's included dinner.
Included meals: breakfast, dinner
Day 6 - Algarve Region
In an echo of its designer's style of play, the Faldo Course at Amendoeira places a premium on accuracy and strategy. This is target golf, and since you're miles inland, you won't need to worry about hitting knockdowns and punches to beat the wind. With a number of forced carries on the hilly back nine, you're free to let it rip—just be sure to think your shot through.
Alternate guided sightseeing: Enjoy a tour of Silves and a wine tasting.
Included meals: breakfast
Day 7 - Algarve Region
Water comes into play on nine of the Victoria Course's holes, so accurate ball striking is a must for a good score today. The signature 17th hole offers one of the best risk-reward drives in Europe: players must choose between playing away from the water running down the hole's right side and consigning themselves to reaching the green in three, or carry their drive nearly 300 yards for a chance at getting on in two. This evening, join our optional Traditional Portuguese Dinner for a taste of local cuisine.
Alternate guided sightseeing: Join your Tour Director for visits to Portimão, Lagos and Cape St. Vincent. This excursion focuses both on Portugal’s seafaring history and the easygoing culture of the modern Portuguese coast.

Traditional Portuguese Dinner
Enjoy an evening of Portuguese wine and food, with a special emphasis on Portugal’s connection to the sea. You’ll savor a seafood dinner at a restaurant near a beach. Come see what Portuguese chefs can do with the bounty just off their shores.

Day 8 - Seville
Monte Rei is a Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, so a high fade is almost always a good play here. The course features enormous bunkers, and water comes into play on eleven holes. In typical Nicklaus fashion, the signature 10th hole requires a long fade off the tee followed by a precise short iron to a wellbunkered green. Later, transfer to Seville, where you’ll savor an included Farewell Dinner.
Alternate guided sightseeing: Enjoy a carriage ride through Seville.
Included meals: breakfast, dinner
Day 9 - Seville
A Go Ahead representative helps you transfer to the airport for your flight home.
Included meals: breakfast
(In the case of early morning departures, breakfast may not be included.)
