Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 - Overnight Flight
Board your overnight flight to Santiago.
Day 2 - Santiago
Arrive in Santiago. After clearing customs, a Go Ahead representative greets you and escorts you to your hotel. After check-in, you’ll set out to tour the Chilean capital. Your walking tour of downtown Santiago will introduce you to some of the most important sites in the city. Next, a funicular ride takes you up the steep slopes of Cerro San Cristobal where panoramic views of the city unfold beneath your feet. Gather tonight for a Welcome Dinner.

Day 3 - Santiago
Join a full-day excursion to Chile’s coastal region. Begin in Valparaiso, “the Jewel of the Pacific,” whose seaport has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue on to Viña del Mar, a seaside retreat featuring beautiful gardens and pristine beaches. You’ll also enjoy a wine tasting to sample wines from this up and coming region.

Day 4 - Puerto Varas
Board a flight for Puerto Montt this morning. Upon arrival, your Tour Director will lead you through the Angelmó Fish Market. Later, you’ll transfer to Puerto Varas, where your Tour Director will help acquaint you with the town. Tonight, enjoy a traditional curanto dinner and learn about this time-honored cooking method similar to a clambake.

Day 5 - Puerto Varas
Puerto Varas, also known as “the city of roses” sits on the slopes of Llanquihue Lake and is known for its German infuence. Explore on your own or consider joining our optional excursion to nearby Frutillar and its cozy Lavender tea house.

Frutillar & Lavender Tea House
Explore Frutillar on a guided tour. A walk through town will introduce you to its German heritage. Later, enjoy an included lunch at the Lavender Tea House, where you'll have the chance to sample an assortment of teas and cakes on the shores of Lake Llanquihue.

Day 6 - Bariloche
Keep your camera close today. You’ll be crossing from Chile to Argentina via a series of lake crossings. These lakes are thousands of feet deep, carved by glaciers and filled by centuries of melted snow. Perhaps most striking, the mountains surrounding these lakes seem to rise straight into the air from the water’s surface, creating awe-inspiring views at every turn. Start today with a scenic cruise from Puerto Varas. You’ll sail across Lake Todos los Santos for the majestic Petrohue Waterfalls; weather permitting, your cruise will include breathtaking views of Osomo volcano. After an included lunch in Puella, you will board your second cruise of the day to Lake Nahuel Haupi, Argentina’s first National Park. Arrive in Bariloche this evening.

Day 7 - Bariloche
Welcome to Bariloche, a town near the Chilean border. This morning, your group sets off on a sightseeing tour of another German-influenced town and its scenic surroundings, including a chair-lift ride up Campanario Hill.

Day 8 - Buenos Aires
Fly to Buenos Aires this morning. After arrival a local guide leads you on a sightseeing tour of the Argentine capital. Your tour includes the Plaza de Mayo and the Casa Rosada, the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Cabildo. You’ll explore the historic neighborhood of San Telmo, the colorful streets of La Boca, and the aristocratic Recoleta district. After your tour concludes, the balance of the day is free at leisure. For a taste of the tango, join tonight’s optional Tango Show & Dinner to watch tangueros perform this sensuous dance.

Day 9 - Buenos Aires
Today is free to explore Buenos Aires at leisure. Or, leave the bustle of Buenos Aires for the peace of the pampas on today’s full-day optional excursion. Journey into the Argentine countryside to a typical estancia (ranch), where the gauchos (Argentina’s answer to our cowboys) welcome you with Argentine wine and empanadas. As you tour the estancia you’ll learn about the gaucho’s daily life, and you might even take a horse ride into the untamed countryside. Come together for a rustic asado, or barbecue, lunch, followed by a folklore show before returning to the city. Later, gather with your fellow travelers for an included Farewell Dinner.

Argentine Estancia
Leave the bustle of Buenos Aires for the peace of the pampas. Journey to a nearby ranch, where the gauchos, or cowboys, welcome you with a refreshing drink. As you tour the estancia, you’ll learn about the gauchos’ daily life. Come together for a rustic asado, or barbecue, lunch, followed by a folklore show before returning to the city. Argentines have a well-documented and long-running love affair with beef, so be sure to try some hot off the parilla.
