Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 - Amsterdam

Your trip to the Benelux countries begins with a flight to Amsterdam.

Day 2 - Amsterdam

Land in Amsterdam, where a Go Ahead representative will accompany you to your hotel. Enjoy an included dinner with the rest of your group this evening. (B in flight, D)

Day 3 - Amsterdam

Your tour director leads this morning’s tour of Amsterdam. Marvel at the city’s intricate canal network as you travel along the waterways in a glass-topped boat, passing traditional houseboats and 18th-century homes. Then visit the Anne Frank House, where the young writer hid with her family during the Nazi occupation. The tour finishes with a visit to a Dutch diamond cutting factory. This afternoon, join an optional excursion to the quaint fishing village of Volendam and the outdoor museum of Zaanse Schans. (Depending on the season, some groups will instead visit the Keukenhof flower gardens.) (B)

Day 4 - Amsterdam

Today is free for you to spend as you wish in Amsterdam. Alternatively, join a full-day optional excursion to The Hague, Europe's seat of the United Nations, Delft known for its blue china made by local potters, a flower market and a porcelain factory. (B)

Day 5 - Luxembourg City

The province of Limburg, located on the Netherlands’ southern border, enjoys a rich history and a hilly landscape unique to the area. On the way to Luxembourg, stop in the Limburger capital of Maastricht for a walking tour of this superb city. Then cross into the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, as the country is officially titled. This tiny principality is smaller than the smallest U.S. state. (B, D)

Day 6 - Luxembourg City

On this morning’s guided tour of the capital, Luxembourg City, you’ll travel through the Old Town—a UNESCO World Heritage Site. View the World War II Monument of National Unity, the Notre Dame Cathedral, the 17th-century Citadel of the Holy Spirit and the elegant Grand Ducal Palace, the setting for formal state functions. This afternoon, enjoy free time in Luxembourg City with a stroll past the numerous gardens and scenic lookouts. Tonight, join an optional Food and Wine of Luxembourg event. (B)

Day 7 - Brussels

Admire the beautiful rolling countryside of the Low Countries as you travel on to Brussels. Pass through the Ardennes, site of the historic Battle of the Bulge and home of exiled French author Victor Hugo. Continuing through Belgium, stop in Bastogne for a visit to the Bastogne Historical Center. (B, D)

Day 8 - Brussels

Discover Brussels’ unique charm on this morning’s guided sightseeing tour. See the Manneken Pis statue (the popular symbol of Brussels) and the elegant baroque houses that line the Grand Place, as well as the Town Hall, a Gothic masterpiece. You’ll also pass by the European Union buildings, the Royal Palace and the Palais de Justice. With a free afternoon, you might browse the galleries of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts. Or, for a true taste of Brussels, stroll down rue des Bouchers (Butchers’ Street), a narrow alley full of seafood eateries competing for attention. (B)

Day 9 - Brussels

With a full day in Brussels at your leisure, you might wish to visit the acclaimed Comic Strip Museum. Or join our full-day optional excursion to the Flanders region, including a boat cruise in scenic Bruges and a visit to St. Bavo’s Cathedral in Ghent. (B)
