Amalfi Coast walking tour
This is a great tour for those who want to experience the real natural beauty of Italy and see places you otherwise would never see as an independent tourist. You'll be guided through trails and passageways that meander through gardens and seascapes. Some of the walks are demanding, but being in good shape, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I left my heart in Southern Italy
This tour offers a slice of paradise on earth : spectacular views on the Almalfi coast line, breathtaking treks up the Millkman Mountanin and Mount Vesivius, and glorious gardens of Ravello, Ischia, and Capri. Besides the fantastic scenery, the tours of Naples, Pompeii, the Vatican, and Rome were engaging for all the cultural and art history buffs. My only complaint is that this trip ended too soon. Highly recommended.
Loved the Walking Tour!!!
This was a wonderful trip and I loved every minute of it!! It was great to get outside and walk on trails. We were able to soak up beautiful scenery that we definitely would have missed from the bus!! I would suggest including a day when you get to Sorrento to catch your breath (we skipped Ischia)--the walks weren't difficult but the non-stop pace was a little hard. Our tour director, Katia, did a great job!! We plan to take another walking tour within the next few years!!
Beyond expectations!
My husband and I took this trip to celebrate our 30'th anniversary. We chose a walking tour because we knew we'd be "tasting" a lot of the local cuisine, and figured we would need to work off those extra calories. We made the right decision. There is no resisting the food, the wine, the cappuccino, the gelato, etc, etc. The walking was not too challenging, with the exception of Path of the Gods, which was a little difficult, but worth it. Definitely bring a trekking pole for this excursion. I was concerned about bringing the right clothes. Really, you could wear jeans and a tee shirt every day if you wanted to. Dressing up is optional pretty much everywhere that we went. The hotels were all very nice, with the exception of the hotel in Naples which was extraordinary! One tip: If you use wash cloths, pack your own. None of the hotels had them. All of our tour guides were extremely knowledgeable. Our main guide, Gabriella, was exceptional. Nothing we asked of her was too much trouble. I feel Go Ahead Tours went out of there way to be accommodating to us. Our flight to Paris was late getting in, so we missed our connecting flight....Long story short, we missed the Pizza dinner the first night. We were a little disappointed but didn't really say much about it. The next day Gabriella told us to meet her in the hotel lobby at 7 for our pizza dinner. It turned out another couple on a different Go Ahead tour had also missed the dinner the night before. Totally unexpected and wonderful! Sorrento, a place I had never really heard of before, turned out to be my favorite. I loved everything about it. Absolutely breathtaking!!
Fabulous Trip
This trip was everything I had imagened in my mind and more, because we had a great tour guide. As a matter of fact my next tour with go ahead will be a tour that our tour director will be on.
Amazing Amalfi Coast
At this stage in life (50's) my husband and I want to take trips that include a fair amount of activity. What we most enjoyed about this trip was the beautiful scenery and the moderately challenging hiking. The views are truly breath-taking, and the walks through the towns, large and small, were filled with cultural, historical, and artistic significance. Beyond that we simply loved all the people on the tours--that by itself made the trip memorable. Our tour manager was extraordinarily knowledgeable and charming. I would recommend Go Ahead tours to anyone who wants a planned vacation with lots of room to see and do whatever you want on your own.
A Walking Tour of Italy's Amalfi Coast
This was the first time we had ever taken a walking tour and we really enjoyed it. The group was not large, the tour leader was excellent, and the local guides were extremely knowledgeable making for a great tour.
Walking tour of the Amalfi Coast
Our gudie Gabriella was wonderful, energetic, and experienced. If you are looking for scenic and picturesque...this is the tour to take. There is a decent/moderate amount of walking every day. I was concerned about the Path of the Gods walk. It is 5 kilometers (3 miles) and took our group 2.5 hrs. The terrain is rough at times...literally walking through an old mule path. This walk wasn't so much difficult as long. Whereas the hike up to Mt. Vesuvius is steep and hard for about 1/2 hr straight. Both were well worth it in the end...the veiws and scenery were spectacular. I wasn't impressed with Naples...it's a dirty city. The catacombs we visited were great, and I would have preferred to visit 1 of the many ancient castles in Naples. I was debating whether to take a tour or try and do this area on our own, and I'm glad we did the tour. This area is difficult to navigate if it's your first time and don't speak the langauge.
Way to see Napoli, Amalfi Coast, Pomepii, and Rome
Great trip! Our guide Gabreila was outstanding. Saw and learned a lot. Just beautiful!!!
Good Tour for Active People
This was my first experience with a tour, and I'm glad I chose this one. It was nice to have a small group. Our tour director was terrific, very knowledgeable and personable, helping to meld people into a friendly group. This was especially important when the weather was uncooperative, and he was able to rearrange events quickly to keep us cheerful and occupied. The hotels were also a good choice. There was a nice balance of included and optional excursions. When we did ride the bus, the driver was excellent and I was glad we had the same driver throughout. The walks were spectacular, I would definitely recommend them for participants who are fit and enjoy exercise.
