Outstanding trip

We traveled with 31 people who had never met and at any time we would pack and take off with them at a moments notice. Everyone got along!! Our tour director, Ildi, was outstanding. She was Hungarian born and did a wonderful job of teaching us the history, feelings and customs of Hungary, Austria and the Czech Republic. We would travel with her anywhere in the future.

Magical Europe

There was never a dull moment as our tour guide, Ildi, set the perfect tone to let us enjoy each of the cities we visited. She coordinated the various tours so smoothly and made us feel at each in each new setting. The pace was perfect for our group and we all enjoyed the varied experiences. I would sign up again if I knew Ildi was oour leader. My husband and I enjoyed the perfect blend of organized sightseeing and free time.

First Trip to Europe

This was our first trip to Europe. We enjoyed each city and country but our favorite was Prague in the Czech Republic, then Vienna in Austria and Budapest in Hungary. Even though we have heard the history of these countries, being there and listening to the tour director made it real to us. We especially enjoyed the cruise on the Danube River and the monastery. near Vienna. Budapest was very colorful and we enjoyed touring the parliament, the opera house to name a few and shopping. We enjoyed everything about Prague from St Vitus Catherdral to all the spires throughout the city. The tour of the Jewish quarter was especially enlightening and intersting.

The beauty is almost too much to take in.

This tour is great! The breathtaking views, the friendly people, and great food! We rode the Prather Ferris Wheel and it was an adventure in itself just to get to the wheel. Lovely!!! . My favorite was Beudapest, still had the old world charm, and everyone would help you even if they did not speak English, in fact went out of their way to get someone who could speak English for us.. River cruise down the Danube, I could go on and on and on. Word of caution, it is a challenging tour, you need to be in reasonably good shape.

Overall great - but some negatives

Prague was outstanding. Budapest was the least favorite of the 4 cities visited. We enjoyed Budapest- the night trip on the Danbue was the highlight of the trip. In Vienna, I got to see and hear a concert at the hall where the New Years concert is held- We have been watching this concert for over 40+ years. In Salzburg, I got to see the Eagle Nest - an area where my Dad took pictures during WW II. The churches at Melk, St. Vitas, St. Peter and Infant of Prague were not to be missed. The Roman ruins were great. The tour director made possible an outstanding trip. She offered many examples that we would not have gotten on our own. Food was good but not outstanding.

One of the best

This was one of the best trips we have taken with Go Ahead. We had plenty of free time to explore each city. My favorite was Budapest. We used the tram system without problem and explored both cities -Buda and Pest. A must see is the Hosptial in the Rock at the foot of the Castle. We are older nurses and recognized the older equipment in the museum. It was amazing. We found out about the hospital in a brochure in the hotel lobbey. Our tour director was fantastic. The only negative was the beds in Budapest at Marmara Hotel...very hard and small. Be prepared to climb a lot of steps on this tour. Looking forward to booking our next trip.

All that I hoped it would be.

My recent trip to Eastern Europe was a great experience. I didn't know much about Budapest, but loved it once I arrived. I was dissappointed in Vienna because of how modern it is. It wasn't the Austria I envisioned. But Prague and Saltzburg were the highlights of the trip. And our Go-Ahead guide made it very pleasurable.

Good Intro. to Eastern Europe

This was my first trip to Budapest, Vienna, and Prague.. The tour hits the high points of these charming old cities in countries emerging from decades under communist rule. They all have venerable and beautiful churches, palaces, opera houses, etc. They all have modern shopping malls with western influences, like McDonald's and Starbucks. I particularly enjoyed our nighttime dinner cruise on the Danube to see Budapest's spectacular skyline, our day trip on the Donau River from Vienna to Melk to see the beautiful abbey and cathedral there, and taking the tour of Prague's old Jewish section. Everywhere I went the inhabitants I met were friendly and helpful and understood English.
