Wonderful trip. Exciting, challenging, historical, and a bunch of Good people to share the laughter with! Our Director, Leonardo was wonderful. Very calm, stress-free, easy going and very insightful when we asked him questions. He was very knowledgeable. 1.) I wished we had more time in Venice...I got lost in the crowd...but that was my fault. 2 days is not enough time. Very exciting. Hotel was nice...nothing Fancy...but adequate. 2.) Florence...so much to see, and not enough time. The bus ride there was nice...although I wished we had a bigger bus, with more room to move about. (No restroom on the bus) Pleasant ride. Hotel was adequate. Going to the wine tasting was a Big highlight of this visit. Wonderful time. 3.) Rome - the crown jewel...here I wished we had an extra day...we opted out on this day, to go to Pompeii...which was a 3 hour bus ride there and 3 hours back. The bus was very small for a small group, (About 15 of us), lunch at a small family hotel was a big treat! . The A/C on the bus was OK...and I did tell the driver to Turn it up!! (We survived) This trip took one of the 3 days we had scheduled for Rome. We should have skipped this and toured Rome instead. The hotel was nice. 4.) We came three days prior to meeting the group in Venice...and visited Milan. This was a big highlight of the trip. Viewing and seeing the Last Supper was a wonderful experience. Visiting the Dumo, and having lunch on the street was a great experience. We also ventured out on train, (About 1 -1.5 hours) to Lake Como...this is a must see. Go on the train, enjoy the Alps, and Relax. We did this on our Own. 3 days in Milan was truly an Adventure. Getting on a train to go to Venice for a 2.5 train ride was very relaxing and exciting. 5.) I would highly recommend this trip...this was my second time to visit Italy...and I felt very comfortable. By the way...it does help to speak Spanish...as I was able to understand and communicate with the Italians. The Trip was very well organized...we just needed more time. Study your history...it will help you enjoy your visit.

Exceeded expectations

From the moment we stepped off the plane until we got back to the airport we were taken care of perfectly. Everything was taken care of. Stuart, our tour guide, even made sure our free time went flawlessly. He spent time with all of our group to make sure we wouldn't have any trouble. We have recommended go ahead tours to the people around us on the plane and everyone else that asked about our trip.

9 day tour of Venice, Florence, and Rome

I did love Venice, the gondola ride was one of the high points of our tour. Yes it is hokey and touristy, but a joyful experience and we would not have missed it for anything.The glass blowing factory was very interesting, as well as taking the water taxis.San Gimignano and the wine tasting remains in my memory and a beautiful perfect day, sitting on the covered patio at the winery, eating, drinking and looking at the beautiful Tuscan countryside. Rome and the Vatican were wonderful, as well as Pompeii was awe inspiring. Our tour guide, Leonardo, could not have been more helpful or intelligent.He was perfect in every way.

It was a lot to do in 9 days but it was worth it. The Tour Director was professional. Go Ahead Tours has excellent customer service.

Venice, Florence & Rome

Thank you Go Ahead Tours...I had an amazing time and saw everything that I had planned to see. This was my 1st time using Go Ahead Tours and felt I surly got my moneys worth!! Andrea (our Tour Director) was great! His knowledge of this region was outstanding, he was pleasant, kind & funny. The only thing is that I wished he didn't walk so fast, as I had a hard time keeping up with the group and almost lost them a few times. His since of distance also left a few of us exhausted and would have rather gotten a Taxi. Every time he said, "Its a short distance"....we all laughed!! Right Andrea...for you!!! The Welcome Dinner in Venice left a bit to be desired and the beds in both Venice & Florence were horrible!!! Everyone complained about them!!! I got little to no sleep until I reached Rome. The hotel in Rome was awesome!!!! I was surprised to find out that I paid MORE for the "Dinner with the Tenors" than the trip to San Gimmnano!! San Gimmnano was the absolute BEST on this tour. I would have rather stayed there a few extra days!! The "Dinner with the Tenors" was corny and not what I expected and WAY over priced!!! I think you should reconsider this option. I expect some awesome singing throughout my dinner and got a little of this but also some corny interaction with the audience. The dinner was OK, for the money I expected better. While in Rome a few of us booked a Night Illumination Tour of Rome. What we all thought it would be an open air bus, but it was not. They had 3 translators and went by the attraction so fast that you could not get photo's. We stopped in St. Peter's square for about 10 minutes but were not allowed off the bus to get photo's which angered most the people on the bus. I would NOT recommend this tour. It stated it was 2 hours but in reality it took over 3 hours!! Besides the above, it was everything I imagined and more and can't wait to book my next tour!!

Wonderful Experience

Fantastic places, wonderful excursions and great places to stay. What a way to review history and visit Italy without the worry of what to do and where to go.

Like Having A Mom on the Road

This escorted tour is perfect for someone who is not quite ready for or comfortable traveling to Italy on their own. Go Ahead Tours takes care of everything for you: meeting you at the airport; arranging private transportation between cities; booking your flights, hotels, guides, optional trips, entrance fees; even some of your meals are included. All you have to do is get yourself on the plane to Italy. The narrated portions of the tour are done with your tour group, but there is also plenty of time for solo sight-seeing if you prefer. Our tour director, Monique, was fantastic -- organized, well-informed, funny, always there if you had a question or a problem, but not hovering over you all the time. It was like having a Mom on the road. Note: there is a fair amount of walking on this tour since Venice and Florence are basically pedestrian cities, so make sure you're up for it and have comfortable walking shoes.

Venice, Florence, Rome, 9 Days

The tour met my expectations. It well organized and there was no waiting in lines at any locations. The transportation, included meals, and hotels were all top quality. I did all the excursions except the tenor’s dinner in Rome and thought that they were all a good value. Chiara our tour director, did a very good job of organizing the itinerary and dealing with the details. She was always pleasant and very helpful. I organized all my unscheduled guided tour time with additional exploration of each location. I enjoyed Rome the most and would have enjoyed additional days there. I recommend this tour as it represents a good value and packs lot in the 9 days.
