Italian Experience

Our trip was a wonderful experience, especially for me, as this was my first trip abroad. We were able to experience most of the well-known attactions that each city had to offer. We met so many charming people from all over the world and tasted foods quite different from our own. Our passionate tour guide Valerio was the best, offering history and information everywhere we went. We also had great local guides in many instances. I'm still dreaming of Italy every night since our return, so that's kind of helping me extend my visit.

Wonderful Family Vacation

We just returned from our 12 day tour of Italy. We visited Venice, Florence and Rome. It was a terrific vacation. It was the first time we ever did a tour. It was our first trip to Italy so we figured a tour would be great. This tour gave us a perfect combination of free time and guided sightseeing. Our tour guide, Valerio, was terrific. He made everyday very enjoyable. He has a passion for this. His humor only added to the trip. I highly recommend the 12 day trip. There was so much to see and do. At the end of the trip, we were asked what our favorite place or sight was. Honestly, I could not name one. Each place was beautiful. All the churches were amazing. We have probably been looking at the pictures everyday. I would definitely do another GoAhead Tour.

Nice 10 day trip to Venice, Florence and Rome

Italy is beautiful!!! and I am so happy I was able to experience this "Once in a Lifetime Trip". Hotels on the tour were clean, comfortable, centrally located and appeared to be in safe areas. Go Ahead Tours had well planned events, although I would have appreciated a little longer trip (1/2 hour more) than the hour and half in Pisa. HINT: Weather in July can be a bit extreme, especially in Venice where it was extremely hot and humid....made some walking tours a bit tiring. Be prepared for large crowds, which make it easier for "pick-pockets". Safer to have a money belt, especially at the Vatican. Bring along a wide brimmed hat, sunblock, battery operated fan and good walking shoes. Include bottled water in your budget, unless you can handle foreign tap water. Overheard a comment in Florence that the local tap water was questionable. Food is expensive, but you can find meals under 10 euros. Learn a bit of Italian language and plan your activities on your Free Days before you leave on your trip.

Senior Trip -

For my sons graduation present we took a family trip to Italy. We traveled in July so we were expecting the weather to be very hot...and it did not disappoint...average high of 92 for the entire trip. I was expecting the group to be made up of older couples. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the majority was families with kids between the ages of 15 and 24...perfect for my kids. Our trip was made very special by our tour leader Valerio who simply loves his country and it shows. He took a lot of extra time to provide personal tours in Rome that were the highlight of our trip. I looked at various tours and settled on Go Ahead because it was a moderately priced tour. Honestly, I feel like it was a great value for the money and I do not know how you could see Italy without taking a tour. I would not hesitate to book another tour with Go Ahead.

Magical Tour of Italy

Our tour involved travel to Venice, Florence, and Roma. Never having been to Italy we were ready for an exciting experience. It was beyond any expectations we may have had in advance, from our tour director, David Macchi (who was amazingly knowledgeable, patient and accomodating), to the local guides, the astounding countryside, magnificent churches, buildings, and ruins, to the fun food and wine, and last but not least the great people who were our traveling companions on this magical tour of Italy. We want, very much to return to Venice, Roma, and explore the Tuscan region even more. Great tour that exceeds expectations in every way!!

Perfect Trip

This trip exceeded my expectations for a first tour to Italy. Our group consisted of individuals from all age groups and travel experiences, and everybody was certainly pleased. Great credit goes to our tour guide, Valerio, who is witty, entertaining and extremely knowledgeable. He was very well organized and always prepared for any situation. He was so helpful to both the first-time and experienced travelers. There was never a minute of wasted time. The optional excursions that we took, Siena and San Gemignano, the Vatican and Pompei were excellent and not to be missed. There was a perfect blend of free time and scheduled trips. Our fellow travelers were very friendly and spontaneous dinners and get-togethers were informally arranged. The hotels and inter-city coaches were excellent. Many fantastic memories for all with ages ranging from teenagers to seventy-year-olds.

A trip not to be missed!

Another couple joined us on the Venice, Florence, Rome trip. Each of us agrees that the trip was absolutely spot on. Everything ran like clock work. The Hotel on the Lido in Venice was well situated, if not a little antiquated. The hotels in Florence and Rome were definetly well situated, with the aminities needed to be most comfortable. We were exceptionally fortunate to have David Macchi as our Tour Director. His delightful personality, vast knowledge of the history of Italy and attention to detail were remarkable. He extended himself for all guests. He even gave a private tour of Rome in the afternoon following the tour of Ancient Rome. The tour guides in each of the cities were experts in their areas and added much to the experience. The excursions to the Vatican,Sienna, Orveletto(sp?) and Pompeii were outstanding.None of these should be missed! Lots and lots of walking which helped mitigate the amount of calories consumed by eating the wonderful food! This trip was especially useful for first time visitors to Italy. It gave us the "survey course" needed to acclimate us to the culture and history of this wonderful country. We will definetly book another trip thru Go Ahead. Thanks for the wonderful experience.
