Excelent Trip
This was my fourth trip to Italy and in many ways my best. Our tour director Carmen was very flexible and genuinely wanted to make sure we had a great time. The schedule was busy without being overwhelming. I thought the tour was a good value and look forward to other trips in the future with Go Ahead.
one of the best tours with an excellent tour guide
Airline selected was horrible, missed the whole Lake Como experience because of delays not related to volcanic ash!! Tour Director was very good with her information and knowledge of areas visited. Would have to think long and hard before using this tour company again.
"ITALY" , "there is no substitute......!"
I've traveled Italy top to bottom--and the, "Venice, Como & the Italian Riviera" trip surpasses any I've taken. Finally a trip that gives you enough free time to explore a bit on your own and still was able to give you the best of the area you visit with knowledgeable guides. We managed to see many places which weren't offered and still enjoy all the beauty of Northern Italy as described in the brochure. Staying in Santa Margherita was a plus , and the beauty of Lake Como remains in my heart . The opportunity to see "The Last Supper" in person, (up close & personal) we amazing. So much to see and do on this trip. I'll cherrish it always.....Go, and Enjoy...!
A True Delight
The area of Lake Como will not disappoint. The pleasant surprise of the trip was the town of Porto Venere, the Gateway to The Cinque Terre. Our Tour Director went the extra mile to get us all rooms with balcony view of the harbor and beautiful town. Milan and Venice never disapoint!
My first trip to Italy!
This was my first trip, and our guide Laura did a terrific job at every turn. She gave us advice on what to do for our free days, took us for walks when we arrived in cities, and did an amazing job making the whole thing a fun experience. Each place was incredibly unique - Lake Como was beautiful and luxurious, the Cinque Terre was magical and such a fun beach holiday, Milano had a lot history and architecture, and Venice was gorgeous. My only complaint was the time spent on the bus in Lake Como. The place we stayed, while lovely, was so far from the city of Como that we'd spend 2-3 hours/day on the bus on the one-land road along the lake. The best thing about the trip was getting to take a water taxi to the airport in Venice - what an amazing view to remember Italy with.
Venice, Como & the Italian Riviera
Our trip to Italy was wonderful. Originally we had planned on renting a car and travelling around ourselves but as gas prices climbed and the dollar go weaker we decided to search out a tour instead and right there was "our" tour. And it was perfect for us. Lots of walking every day but you got to see SO much. The best part was how much free time you actually end up with. We are the "off the beaten path" people so being able to look at a map and decide we want to go "there" and not have to follow a tour group was great! So we got to see lots of really wonderful sights on the tour, many we would not have thought or known about to see on our own, but also had time to see some things we wanted to see on our own. Not only was not having to drive a wonderful thing but having the tour guides at some of the larger locations was fantastic. We learned so much I wish I'd had a mini recorder to catch what I missed! As it was we were frantically scribbling into our pocket notebooks and constantly amazed. Lastly our food and lodgings were incredible. From the small family run Inn to the large 5 star hotel we got to see many sides of the hospitality industry in Italy and it was all wonderful! The meals were amazing...breakfast every morning and then the dinners included were all at 5 star places. Incredible food. Next year were are off again with Go Ahead Tours..this time to Germany, Switzerland and Austria. I can't wait!
