A wonderful experience of the wine country of France, with wine tastings, great French cooking, a welcoming people, beautiful countryside and small villages, then topped off with four great days in Paris. Our tour guide JJ was attentive, funny and always there to guide and assist...he was a joy!

A Taste of France: Burgundy & Champagne

I never had an interest in traveling to France, much less with a tour group. Now I am ready to go back. The tour was well thought out, fun and very interesting. Our tour guide, known as JJ was fantastic. He knew the area and the things that we should not miss. There was interesting history, good food and wine and good sightseeing. I was very impressed with the out of the way vineyards we saw and especially enjoyed Perouges and some of the side trips like Chateau de Chromartin. I would have enjoyed a little more of Paris, a bus ride is not very thorough. I enjoyed every thing about the trip but would not go back to the Roman Ruins in Lyon because of the museum tour. Food was generally very good, we did have a couple of average meals one in Dijon and the farewell dinner in Paris. Overall, it was a great experience that I would recommend to anyone.

A wine Tour of France as it should be done!

Lyon, Dijon ,Rheims and Paris: This was really a marvelous tour. Our accomodations were excellent the travel times per day were not too short or too long. The local guides were knowledgeable and interesting. Our Tour Guides JJ, Martha and Jill were just superb with their great organization skills, knowledge of the territory and abilities to improvise on the fly. But ah the wine Oh-la-la-la!. We had wines and meals that will live in memory. Certainly one of the great things about Go Ahead Tours is the assumption by the guides that you will be able to find your way about a town with just the proper amount of help. We loved to wonder about finding our own special pleasures and visiting places again that we have come to enjoy especially in Paris. Please keep this trip on the menu for others to enjoy as well it is a keper. A suggestion: How about a trip starting in Lyon and following the Rhone valley South with Beaujolais then the great wines of the Cote du Rhone like Chateau Neuf du Pape and Hermitage; ending up in Provence and the Coast; then a fast train back to Paris for a couple days. Magnifique! John A. Scott
