A Taste of France: Burgundy & Champagne

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Lyon was a gastronomique deight with its covered market displaying various stalls specializing in cheeses, seafood, pastries and meats all beautifully displayed. The covered alleyways which were originally designed for the silk trade during the Renaissance were also used by the resistance to convey secret messages during WWII. The cathedral of Reims where Joan of Arc saw the dauphine crowned king was magnificent and I also was amazed at the 15th century Hotel-Dieu in Beaune which was a charity hospital in the middle ages. It's roof is a riot of Flemish patterned roof tiles. All the vineyards that we visited were wonderful and I learned so much about the process of making the famous Burgundy wines. It was a joy to travel through Frances fabled wine country with its cornucopia of culinary delights.

Wonderful Burgundy

The food & wine were wonderful...absolutely above expectations...and our tour director (Jean-Jacques Legalle) went our of his way to pamper us in every way, even during free times not included as part of the tour per se. I am so very happy in the afterglow of thius experience; and plan to seek another trip led by Jean-Jacques in the future.

I left my heart in Lyon, Dijon, Reims, & Paris

Our recent trip to France was fantastic. Lyon - what a beautiful ciy of rivers and bridges, those hidden pasages, that creamy gelato! Our visit to Perouge was a trip back in time to the middle ages. Dijon - I loved our lunch in the oldest building in town- built in 1453. We toured two wonderful Chateaus, tasted some fine wines, ate scrumptious food, toured beautiful cathedrals, visited the champagne cellars in Reims, and saw Paris by night from the Seine. Our tour director did so much extra to make our trip more enjoyable. It was great!

The best tour we have been on .

The tour was excellent due to the #1destination #2 Martha Ryan #JJ, the tour guide. We only hope all three of the above elements will be put together again for a future tour next year. The only other item that we were wondering about was a cancelled side trip that JJ told us was to be refunded within a couple of months, which has not happened? AN EXCELLENT ADVENTURE!
