Greek Islands Tour

the tour was ok. without paying for optional excursions though we would not have seen much as we did by paying. Hotels were not very good, breakfast was good in most hotels but the included dinners were awful--especially in Santoini or was it Mykono. breakfast here was also terrible. Two hotels did not even have drawers or shelves to put our things away. Distribution of rooms was poorly done--since we all paid the same price we should al have gotten rooms with lovely views--only a few did. We had to pay for the safe on the cruise and in Santorini. Cruise ship was changed on us without prior notice and the ship (Calypso) was leaning towards being run down. We did see the Aquamarine and it was much bigger. the Tour director was great though. She did everything possible to make our trip enjoyable. I can only say that first time travelers might enjoy the trip because they have no experience with other agencies.

A Good Tour with a Few Glaring Exceptions

My wife and I were looking for a tour of the Greek Islands that included more than the usual one day stop at each island. This tour provided the kind of island visits that we sought, with overnight (or more) stays on several islands. Our Tour Guide, Gloria, was exceptional. She was extremely knowledgeable, very pleasant, and could not do enough for the tour participants to make this a pleasant tour. We cannot emphasize enough how greatly we appreciate Gloria's contribution to making this tour a success. For the most part, the accomodations and the cruise ship, The Calypso, were adequate, but certainly not exceptional. There are better ships and accommodations available. The Calypso, at more than 40 years old, is way past its prime and should be extensively refurbished or retired. We also felt that were were being nickled-and-dimed on this cruise ship. On six previous cruises we have never had to pay to use a room safe, but on The Calypso we were charged 1 1/2 Euro per day for a key to use the safe. The hotels were clean, and the meals (breakfasts and some dinners) that were provided in the tour were generally good, although the Petinos Beach Hotel in Mykonos served a dinner of beef that was so tough it was inedible by nearly all of us. The one exceptional hotel was the Galaxy Hotel in Heraklion, Crete, a property which lived up to the accolades it has received at numerous web sites. Our most serious complaint about Go Ahead Tours is that whoever booked us on flights to return home allowed only the minimum time to change planes in Munich, Germany. This person didn't take into account that planes are often delayed, and that there are sometimes administrative affairs that have to be delt with when traveling into another country. Our Lufthansa flight to Munich arrived 15 minutes late, and, in addition, we had to pass through German Immigration, both of which caused us to arrive at the Continental Airlines departure gate for our out-going flight two minutes after the boarding cut-off time. It was only through persistence on our part with a Lufthansa Service Center employee that we eventually got home without being forced to over-night in Munich. As a result of this very significant problem that Go Ahead Tours caused for us by not exercising good judgement in booking connecting flights, with adequate time to make the connection, we CANNOT RECOMMEND Go Ahead Tours to anyone else and will not be traveling with Go Ahead Tours in the future.

Great Trip!

We took the Greek Islands tour for our honeymoon and we loved it! Our tour director was absolutly fantastic the hotels were great, and the destinations were amazing. We really enjoyed almost everything about it! We would have given it a five, except the cruise ship left a bit to be desired. The ports it stopped in were beautiful and the staff was friendly but the food and the ship itself were...just okay. Not the end of the world, but definitely not the highlight of the trip either. Be ready to walk and move around though! You get to see a lot but that means there's not too much time to just sit and relax. For us, the pace was a good mix of activities and free time. Overall I'd recommend it!

The Greek Islands

This is by far the most amazing trip I have ever taken. The locations were absolutely breath taking, the hotels wonderful and the tour director extremely knowledgeable. Highly recommend it!!

This trip was everything we wanted and more

It's been a year since we got back from our Greek Islands Tour but it seems like yesterday. My and my family still remark about how perfect this trip was. I can't waint until our next Go Ahead Tour trip.

Glorious Greek Islands

Pictureseque, beautiful, full of gorgeous scenery, amazing sites and astonishing history. One of my all time favorite trips. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, capable, friendly and took the best care of us. The local guides were also the very best. It was fascinating to finally see the islands that I had seen only in photos,and had anticipated for many years that I would one day see all this beauty for myself. Go Ahead saw to it that the experience was first rate. I could not have asked for anything better. I have travelled with several tour groups in the past, but from now on, Go Ahead will be the one for me.
