Interesting country, friendly people

I enjoyed our trip to Thialand in spite of a very disruptive group of 18 women who hyjacked the trip. Our Guide, Louis, was unable to maintain order. When he would talk on the bus, it was impossible to hear because of the loud talking. His English was not as good as we have experienced on other GoAhead trips. He didn't seem as knowledgable about the history and culture of the country and filled his commentaries with jokes, songs and silly stories. I don't really need my guide to sing Elvis songs while traveling in Thailand. He also never told us the correct time that we would arrive any place. I loved the hotels in Chang Rei and Chang Mai and the food was very good at all of the hotels except the one in Phitsanuloke. The sites we visited were very interesting and good mix of temples, history, farms and nature. The exception was the Wat Chantajam temple. We go there too late to enter the main temple so visited a run down side temple. There were dozens of starving dogs laying around. Not worth the stop. The elephant camp was great.

Not the best but good

Great trip, bus was a little bouncy and caused people to get car sick. More time needed at the floating market. All the hotels were great accept for the last one when they put us in a room that someone had been smoking in. I loved the elephant and raft rides. The rickshaw ride was a nice feature of the trip. Learned a lot about ancient ruins, buda's and monks and temples.

Fantastic Trip

I had a wonderful time! We covered alot of area and got alot of information. Louis, our tour director was very personable and knowledgeable. And the accomodations were great. We met 3 of your consultants on our trip. They were very enthusiastic and you could tell they enjoyed their jobs. It was a pleasure spending time with the girls. (Kandi, Jillian, and Maggie)

Wonderful Thailand and Cambodia

Wonderful people of thailand, loved them and their country. Too much time spent at new Buddist Temples for my taste...long 12 hour days on and off the bus, gruling pace for some of the older travelers and even for some who weren't so old. Could leave out the Monk Chat, seemed like a recruitment to me. The accommodations were awesome, GoAhead outdid themselves in this respect and also for the restaurants and food provided. I truly enjoyed the old temple ruins and the Elephant Camp, very special. Also the floating market and most all of the sites visited, except the new gaudy temples, after a while the all looked alike. Our tour guide Khet in Cambodia was very special, he told us of the time of Pol Pot and experiencing the killing fields when he was 5 or 6. Very touching. He had a gentle spirit.

Magical Trip

Thailand was such a magical trip. From big city Bangkok, to taking speed boats through canals that lead to the bustling floating markets, to the beautiful temples and palaces each more brillant than the next, to learning about the spiritual side of buddism, to rickshaw rides to the night makets, to delicious food, to pristine countryside, to meeting the locals in the hilltribe villages, to bargain shopping, to bamboo rafting and many encounters with elephants.

Thailand ~ One very exciting trip!

Aside from the plane rides over and back, it was a fantastic tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and also very accommodating. Some members of the group were not quite up to the strain of this trip and he made every effort to find alternate activities for them. The things we saw and did were awesome right from the start on up to the finish! First day out we rode the longtail boats to the floating market and the last day we flew back to Bangkok. In between, we rode bamboo rafts, rickshaws, every kind of boat you can imagine, pickup trucks and even elephants! Excellent trip!!!

A Remarkable Tour Experience

The tour of Thailand was jam packed with spectacular sights and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. I especially enjoyed the visits to the Imperial Palace and the "White Temple." It also afforded me great insight into another culture and religious perspective. The tour guide also added great insight and humor regarding the Thai perspective. Overall, it was a fantastic experience that I would recommend to anyone.

FUN IN THAILAND

See Dorothy Lerman comments. The brochure has the currency wrong. Thailand only accepts the Bhat, anc Cambodia accepts U.S. dollars
