Very Enjoyable and nice pace!

The tour was an excellent pace and included all the major sites. Although the Murrayfield Hotel and Lodge (Edinburgh) had excellent food and superior staff, the location was definitely off the beaten path. The room was also inferior in that several light switches didn't work and the bathroom sink wouldn't drain properly. The remainder of the hotels were very good and centrally located. The Isles of Glencoe was exceptional in it's scenic beauty with a vast array of scenic views from various locations. We would have liked to have had more time in Glasgow, the museums were fabulous. Our only regret is that we should have opted for the post-tour extension. It was a wonderful trip and certainly meet our expectations.

A fun and learning experience!

I thoroughly enjoyed Scotland. I enjoyed the tour guide as much! Scotland was everything I thought it would be...interesting and beautiful! Thank you for having the most knowledgeable guide...well-educated and with a great sense of humor!

SCOTLAND

It was a place unexpected . The history . . . The tales of life and death . . . Of love and hate . . . Of crowns and thrones. Survival against all odds. It was a place of beauty. The greens so rich they sang, And rocks made soft with moss. The towers and turrets . . . Lineage carved in stone. The sculpture, weaving, grazing sheep . . . And the colors . . . Flowers in bloom at every turn, And tartans holding court. It was a place of laughter . . . Glasses raised in happiness, And songs that brought a smile. Friendships new and precious . . . Shared love and dreams to cherish. It was a place to remember . . . A gift of love to hold . . . SCOTLAND A poem by Anne Triguba

Loved the Highlands

Our tour director, John Payne, and our bus driver, Joe, were both terrific! We were very pleased with all aspects of the tour save two: The Murrayfield Hotel in Glasgow was inadequate. Our double room must have been a closet in its former life or a very small single. After an overnight flight, we were forced to sit in the bar of the hotel and wait 2.5 hours before our room was ready. Then, when we were able to enter our room, the furniture was in poor condition, the size of the room was beyond small even for european standards, and our room had no phone. The people in the hotel were very nice and the food was good; however, the room was simply inadequate and should be far below Go Ahead's standards. Second: The Novatel in Glasgow does not have double occupancy with twin beds. We were given a double bed and a fold out couch which took up the entire room. All other aspects of the htoel were good, but the sleeping arrangements were not. There must be a hotel in Glasgow with twin or double beds. Other than that, we were very pleased with the tour - loved Glencoe, the Highlands and Edinburgh. Glasgow was a disappointment, but we were ready for a day or two to take it easy and do a bit of shopping.

Trip of a lifetime

This was my first trip abroad. We chose this trip because I always wanted to see Scotland, it was our 10th anniversary and my 50th birthday. The trip met and even exceeded my expectations. Edinborgh was very easy to get around. I was disappointed with the Ceilidh as it was more a dinner show rather than a true ceilidh. Unless you intend to add the Glasgow extension, you will not see much of Glasgow. 30 minutes in any museam is not long enough to see anything. We met wonderful people on the tour and would highly recommend this trip to novice travelers such as ourselves. We are looking forward to another trip in the near future.

one of the worst

first hotel was a terrible. toilets hard to flush, windows only opened 6", noisy street. very far from city. rooms too dark to read in at night. local guide in glasgow was a waste of your money. supposedly spoke english, but no one could understand him. at private museum he spoke for 5 minutes then walked off. at city museum he sat and drank coffee with our group leader. on bus tour it was as if he spoke a foreign language. on extention, we never saw leader. one optional was cancelled. he did show at departure for tip and evaluation. did you get it?

First Time in Scotland

Please don't use British Airways. They are notorious for overbooking and don't assign seats until check in, and still you're not gauranteed a seat. We almost didn't make our first flight, we had to sit separately. We were bumped from our flight back to the U.S. along with about another 10 people. They put us up at a hotel and gave us money. But still, we shouldn't have to experience that. I really enjoyed the highlands. I wanted to spend a little more time there. The city tour for Glasgow was very disjointed. I would've preferred they take us around the whole city as an introduction, instead of spending not enough time in a handful of places.

Wonderful first trip with G0-AHEAD

Our trip to Scotland was everything we hoped for - an excellent tour director who provided just the right amount of informed commentary, a nice pace for the trip with time to explore on our own in Edinborough and Glasgow, and delightful traveling companions. We were pleased with the hotels, 3 of which were either on a direct bus line or in the city center. The 4th hotel in a remote area near Glencoe had beautiful views and was fine since we took the optional trip to Skye. All of the hotels had very helpful desk staff. We took several optional tours and were pleased with all of them; the food at the Scottish Cedeliah was only fair but the performance was exceptional.
