Very cool trip
Great food, friendly locals, lucked out with the weather, Inka engineering marvel. Roberto was a wonderful tour director, going above the call of duty by spending time with us even on his day off. The only thing I woud change is the visit to Museo Larco should be at the beginning of the trip, not the end. It gave a wonderful big picture of the history of ancient Peru.
this trip was more than we expected. It's good.
We really had a good time in Peru. Our guide "Edwin" made everything possible, and full with knowledge. The country is beautiful and that include the peoples there too. It was against all the negative words which we'd heard about the country before our trip. We were amazed with Machu Pichu, and all the inca ruins. It is one of our memorable trip and we would recommend to all of our friends.
A Trip to Remember
Wow, what sites we did see. The people were friendly, the prices were right, the food was fabulous, and our tour guide made it all come together. Seeing Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley, and ruins around Cuzco, went beyond my expectations. My husband and I had a trip to remember as well as met friends to keep for a lifetime. We cannot wait to do another tour in another place, at another time!
Ancient Peru & Machu Picchu Tour
This was a wonderful trip. The service was excellent and our tour guide was exceptional. The hotels are centrally located within the city, and the food was great. The only problem I had was with our US currency. Peru does not accept any worn out or torn bills. I wish I would have known this prior to the trip. I would have spent more money and bought more gifts.
Good Tour
The trip was too long for what we saw. I left 2 days early because really it was too "dragged out". Since it was a Macchu Picchu tour, I thought we should have stayed longer there and less focus on Lima & Cusco. There was way too much "down time". The pace was too slow for me. I would like to see this tour done in about 7 days, and to move faster, and to have more adventures packed into it. This tour could have been done a lot better.
The trip of a lifetime
My husband and I really enjoyed the trip even though we were mildly affected by the high attitude. We learned alot about the Peruvian culture & people from the various local guides (and from Edwin, the excellent tour director) . The museums were very informative about the Pre inca and Inca periods. The food was very good and plentiful. The ruins were majestic esp Machu Picchu. If you have the energy, definitely go back to Machu Picchu yourself the next morning (on your free day in Aguas Caliente), and for the hikers , walk up to Sun Gate or to the top of the Machu Picchu mountain. There's a lot of walking on this tour. I would recommend it to fit, active folks in order to take full advantage of the tour. The tour director Edwin was superb, arranging extra entertainment, and taking care of all the details of the trip. We on the tour were in great hands. Be warned that there's a lot of traveling with various bus drivers and local tour guides, so be prepared for a lot of tipping. Clean, crisp $1 bills can be used for this, so bring them with you. If you don't have them, Edwin arranged for currency exchange at the welcoming meeting. Finally, our fellow travelers were a diverse and interesting group. It was fun and a joy to travel with them.
Love the tour completely.
The hotels and food were very good. Our tour guide took very good care of everyone in the tour. He made wonderful suggestions about what we could do on our free time and places we could eat at. If anyone had a problem, he went the extra mile to help resolve the problem. Am sure everyone on this tour had a great time. Besides being an excellent tour director (Edwin Adea), he has a great sense of humor. He kept us laughing and happy.
Wonderful experience!
This was an outstanding tour. I enjoyed my time in Peru very much. The contrast between cosmopolitan Lima, the mountains, and the Amazon were amazing. Our tour guide, Edwin, did a fantastic job. My only complaint is that I was left in Lima an extra day after the rest of the group departed. While others might enjoy that extra time, I did not. For a single woman, being alone in a large foreign city was concerning. It also required an additional day of expenses and meals.
Trip of a lifetime
My husband and I for many years had looked forward to making a trip to Machu Picchu and the Amazon. Ancient Peru & Machu Picchu with the extension to the Peruvian Amazon became the trip we had often dreamed of and planned for. The accomodations, food, tours, and excursions were all good to excellent. Our tour director was helpful in providing additional information and advice so that we could pursue activities on our own during our free time such as our return by ourselves to Machu Picchu the second day and our taxi ride out from Cusco to visit Tipon ruins on our own. Highlights for me included our night in the beautiful Inkaterra Hotel in Machu Picchu Pueblo (formerly Aguas Calientes), and seeing the Southern Cross that night in a rare clear night sky.
Peru plus Amazon Extension
Local guides were terrific ... well versed and cordial and informative and friendly and nice. Peru is so on time and precise and everything that was scheduled was done as done as planned ... bus trips ... departures ... trains ... flights ... transfers ... baggage handling. Edwin was a marvelous guide and he is such a fine person too. For me ... this trip was a dream come true ... one that I had wanted to do 40 years ago ... my wife of 37 years joined me and she shared my dream come true trip. Peru and the Peruvian people (Lima, Cusco and Machu Picchu, and Amazon region are all so very kind to tourists and we had life experiences we will never forget!
