Very Exciting Trip

Good trip, Good value, Nice people to travel with.

Fabulous France

We had a great trip!!! Hotels were adequate, included meals were good, and our tour director Brian was excellent. The itinerary was very interesting and covered a large diversity of interests. Definitely recommend the Versailles add on, and the post stay in Paris Plus we added another 4 nights in Paris on our own, it was GREAT, Go Ahead got us the hotel room and the front desk at the Mercure Montparnasse called a taxi for us to get to the airport. Taxi fare was around 60 euro to Charles de Gaulle from the Montparnasse area of Paris. You can't have too much time in Paris!!! PS. Ride the Metro, it's fairly easy and so reasonable.

This was our first tour to Europe. Always before we went on our own. From the start, things went very smoothly and in a timely fashion. Our Tour Leader was on top of things and once we arrived in Nice, our Tour Guide, Brian, took over and was invaluable the whole Tour. He has a wealth of knowledge and more on all the places we visited. He made this Tour a joy to be part of. Go Ahead Tours was First Class all the way.

SYNOPSIS OF ABOVE TOUR

This tour has been fine tuned over the course of it's development based on previous reviews I have read and my personal experiences on this recent tour. The agenda was great, the value of the tour excellent, and our tour director Ms Lisa Markuson was outstanding in all categories. The only negatives I would highlight were the following: a. The food at the Group Dinner at the Hotel NH Nice was not very good. The salmon was dry and the dessert over baked. b. The dinner at Monaco was not very good either. I would recommend dining elsewhere (outside of Monaco) and beginning the dinner earlier so we would not have to rush our visit. The other meals, particularly the Group Dinner in Provence, the Provencal Dinner and Wine Tasting, and the others were superb.

To actually be in Provence , a place that has been part of my life in literature and art was thrilling , memories I shall cherish.

Exceeded expectations

Our tour director, Lisa, was waiting for us when we arrived at the airport and stayed close-by throughout the tour. We had a perfect combination of exciting tours and free time to explore on our own. When we were not on tour sponsored trips, our guide made sure we knew how to easily and cheaply get around on our own in each city, provided wonderful suggestions, and was always helping to organize optional activities for interested individuals. Her knowledge, enthusiasm, and energy made this tour exceptional. The sites we visited were beautiful beyond compare. We were well-cared for throughout our trip and had the most memorable vacation.

Wonderful trip

I recommend this trip. It is a thorough and varied view of the Riviera, Provence, and Paris. I learned a great deal of history, and there was a focus on art, architecture, and history which I find interesting. I was never bored but tired, yes. But tired is what you want to be. That way you know you have seen many sights. Our guide was great and she went over and above the typical responsibilities. She got to know us, and she was personable. The hotels were great and located conveniently. No doubts there, very nice acommodations. Breakfasts ranged from good to excellent. Dinners were good--salad, wine, dessert excellent just too much chicken! That was the only area that needed improvement. Extra excursions were great just a bit costly, especially for couples and families.

The best tour I have ever done. The Tour Director was above and beyond the call of duty. She did and told us stuff that was above the realm of her duty. I commend Go ahed tours for the organization to detail to the trip. I was very satified. The only and I say only complaint was having chicken three nights in a row. Would have like to see a change about that. Thank you so much for Lisa.

Tour started with 4 of us having to wait over an hour at the airport for others to arrive. The tour guide was great kind, considerate, and very knowledgeable. Hotels were average on a scale of 1-10 I'd say a 5. The food and restaurants the tour provided were below average. Even the food we were served when I paid for the excursion was below average. We did not get a choice dark meat chicken was the only things offered. I was very disappointed about that since I paid $100. per person for the meal and boat ride. I was also very disappointed that this was my second tour with Go Ahead and both times I was charged a fuel surcharge of $100. per person. Even when gas prices dropped. This did not make any sense, I felt very ripped off.
