Town and Country France
From the glamour of Paris to the sombre beaches of Normandy and the Chateaux of the Loire Valley, this tour provided something for everyone's taste. Our Tour Director, Brian was dela de l'excellence Highly recommend this tour.
Very nice trip, very historic
We enjoyed the trip. It was great to have a group of only 21 people. Made things very manageable and everything went smoothly. Our main criticism is that the hotel at the gare de leon in Paris was not a good location and there were too many tour groups there. It was very difficult to get breakfast and we had difficulty getting a clean table. Also not much food was left because of the amount of people. When a group is small like ours was , there is no need to book such a large hotel that caters to large groups. Also, our dinner in the Loire Valley at the hotel was below French standards and the quantity was spartan.. Our first dinner in Paris was very good and the restaurant staff was attentive. However, our last dinner in Paris was a disappointment. The staff seemed to rush us, the tables were not set completely, they were vacuuming the floor while we we eating, and it seemed like they couldn' wait to get rid of us.
Tour Director Made the Trip!
Brian was the best! He made the trip for all of us. Loved the small group of 21 participants. Did not like the lst floor front hotel rooms.
One of our best trips, tour director was great!
Paris at night is a must see. Notre dame and the louvre was fantastic. D-day beaches very moving and solemn. All americans should see the American cemetery. What our gi's sacrificed for freedom can't be put in words!
Paris Normandy& the Loire Valley
Loved the trip and people. Only negative was I always found myself wishing for more time at each stop.
Paris, Normandy and the Loire Valley
We had an absolutely fabulous time with Brian our guide and our group of wonderful people. I would recommend this trip to anyone and I would travel anywhere with the same group.
Paris and the Normandy Coast
This was the best tour vacation that me and my wife have ever experienced. The tour director had an outstanding knowledge of art, architecture, French history and of the entire region that we visited. In addition to the scheduled stops, he was able to fit in several short visits to quaint towns in the Normandy region. One highlight of the trip was the daily drives through the most bucolic farmlands and pastures, with the hedgerows and dappled sunlight accentuating the fields, that we have ever seen. Some of the most memorable experiences were visits to the D-Day beaches ( both Omaha and Gold beach) and the American cemetery at Colleville-su-Mer, the Caen Peace Museum with its split screen videos of both the allied and German D-Day experiences at various times of the day , the charming walled city of St. Malo and the drive through the Loire valley. Another exciting day was spent visiting the ancient monastery at Mt. St. Michel, a somewhat arduous climb of several hundred steps and a long walk on a cobblestone path ( which my wife handled without difficulty, one year after major foot surgery and 2 knee replacements!). A highlight of our time in Paris (we had visited previously) was a visit to the Musee d'Orsay and lunch in its Versaille-like dining room.
interesting
i like the way the french live
Paris & Normandy, a feast for the senses
Paris and the Normandy Coast allowed my wife and I to see the beautiful city of Paris, hear the surf on the beaches of Normandy, touch history with beautiful cathedrals throughout the regions, and smell and taste the wonderful food of France. We were inspired at the American Cemetery at Normandy. The enchanted beauty Le Mont Saint-Michel rising out of the tidal island left us breathless. And the food, what can you say about fresh French food? Every meal was excellent and we were never disappointed or left hungry. Our travel companions became friends as we explored the region together. Our tour director, Thierry Delahousse, was outstanding. He took us off the typical tourist path and helped us to enjoy France and her people. We left France we new friends and many memories. We also left with over 1,900 photographs! Many of these were put to music and placed on a DVD so we could share our experience with our friends and relatives.
Paris and The Normandy Coast
One of the advantages of this trip was the small size (17) of our group. We were accomodated quickly and able to enjoy smalller resturants and other events that a larger group would find difficult. Our tour guide RJ did a great job of expanding our small group experiences.
