A grand vacation!

The tour of Puglia was informative, interesting and delicious! It is not yet an important tourist destination which made the tour a lovely experience. As so many of the towns are on the hills it was somewhat challenging. With the inclusion of Rome the tour was a pleasant mix of areas well traveled such as Sorrento and Capri with areas less well known as Otranto,Ostuni and Lecce. Linda and Daniella knew their region well. Our dinners were superb. The hotels a somewhat mixed lot. Our visit to the Vatican with Paula was excellent as she clearly knows the history and her group well. The same can be said of our visit to Capri. Free time was a bit precious and in certain areas we could have used more but overall the total experience was grand.

Puglia and southern Italy: the Mezzogiorno

The tour director and the local guides were EXCELLENT. Their knowledge of the history and geography of the area was complete and, as a student of Italian studies, I was able to see first hand what I had learned in the classroom. It was a wonderful trip.

LINDA, JEN AND SARAH WERE AMAZING TRAVEL PARTNERS. ALL SO EXPERIENCED, ELEGANT AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. THE TOUR WAS SIMPLY EXTRAORDINARY. I ESPECIALLY LOVED THE WINERY. THE FOOD WAS MARVELOUS AND THE SURROUNDING WERE REMARKABLE. CAPRI WAS THE HIGH LIGHT, ESPECIALLY THE BOAT TRIP AROUND THE GROTTO'S. I COULD WRITE AND WRITE BUT I DO BELIEVE YOU HAVE THE MESSAGE. Educational

When I booked this tour I did not realize that we were going to be on the very first tour for Go Ahead in this region. It was surprising to see the vast differences between this region of Italy and the more northern regions I have visited in the past. The tours were educational and the regional food was outstanding. The tours by the local guide were just a little overly long. I only wish that there was a little more time given to visit some of the shops in the towns we visited. It often seemed like we were rushing off to another destination when I would have liked just another 30 minutes or so. I'm sure that everything can be tweaked. Overall it was a wonderful experience and Linda did a great job.

Please read my written review that was given to the Linda our tour guide. I thougth the tour was outstanding, except for a few minor things. However our air travel arrangements were terriable, we left Sorrento at 3:00 AM arrived home in oregon 28 hours later. To me that is unacceptable! If we go on another tour with Go Ahead I will want to know travel arrangedments before we sign on.
