Great trip to see a lot of Italy
There is a ton to see in Italy, and this trip gets you to see a ton in a very short time for a really good price. Lots to see and do, and it's a lot of fun!!!!
Italy was great!
Really enjoyed visiting Sorrento and Rome. I think Sorrento and the Almalfi coast were my favorite. Could have spent a week in Capri alone.
Wonderful Trip
Naples, Sorrento and Rome was a wonderful trip. I really enjoyed the guided tours but also the free time to explore on our own. Our Tour Director was always ready to give info and advise on areas to explore and full of information. I have been on 4 other trips and I can say that Dina was the best director thus far! All have been good but she was the best. Thanks Dina and GoAhead for a lovely vacation!
Better than I had hoped!
Good hotel locations, great tour director and driver, good site tours. Would go with Go Ahead again without hesitation.
Good Go Ahead trip but not our best
We enjoyed the trip but had some problems and disappointments. I contacted Go Ahead so that 4 of us could sit together on our flights, which I was assured by the Go Ahead representative would be no problem. Instead, on most of the flights I was separated from my group (in a different row by myself). While included breakfasts were fine, we had mixed reviews for our included dinners: Naples night at Restaurant Sophia was great with good food and atmosphere, but with all of the restaurants to choose from in Sorrento, our hotel dinner was forgettable. Our excursions resulted in one so-so night (Tarentella: mediocre food and amateurish entertainment) and one that was lots of fun (3 tenors: good food and singing). But our biggest (and most serious) disappointment was how our visit to Pompeii was handled. 2 of us had been there before, and we were excited to return, thinking we had the entire morning at the site. Instead, we visited a cameo factory, wasting precious time, and then had less than 2 hrs at the site with one of the worst guides ever: Marco who was more interested in himself than Pompeii. In fact, the word he used most in his talk was "Marco." Of missed travel opportunities, surely this one was one of our most disappointing ones.
Review of Naples, Sorrento, and Rome tour
Overall, the tour was very nice and enjoyable, and the tour director, Valerio Borghese, was excellent. A few negative comments: Casserta was a marginal experience. The Pompeii visit involved much too long a stop at a cameo factory which cut into the time allowed at Pompeii. Also, the actual time for the tour in Pompeii was too short, skipping some of the more important sites. No time was permitted for tour members to explore on their own. The guide for the visit, Marco, was too dramatic and self-involved and did not provide sufficient information. Overall, a big disappointment for one of the main reasons we signed up for the trip. Finally, another day in Rome as part of the regular tour would have been great. Our tour director arranged a separate trip for a group of us (9) to visit Paestum--definitely one of our highlights of the whole trip. Why not make it a regular option for the tour? In spite of these negatives, the overall experience was very good.
Naples, Sorrento and Rome
The tour was wonderful. What could be wrong with seeing Italy. I feel some of the best parts of the trip were because of our tour director, Valerio. He was very knowledgeable and willing to share. In addition, the other blue badge guides Nadia, in Naples and Capri, John Carlo at the Colosseum and Marcus in Pompeii really rounded out a truly enjoyable trip.
Naples, Sorrento, and Rome
Our trip was beautiful. The excursions were well planned and informative. Valerio Borghese was a wonderful tour director, he was knowledgeable, calm, and patient. (Believe me, his patience was tested.) I did not want to leave Italy:( I plan to return as soon as possible!!!
Amazing!!
I couldn't imagine the tour going any better. The weather was perfect, the food was delicious, our group was so much fun and our guides (Marcellas & Fabrizio) were AWESOME! I will be visitng Italy again one day. I absolutely loved it.
Another wonderful tour
We were so lucky that the weather was perfect (68-72F). Every place we went was so beautiful. I especially like the scenes walking down to the water in Sorrento. We arrived in Naples two days before the group. Naples has a lot of characters and the best pizza and seafood pasta. And my favorite city is still Rome. The 116 bus is very interesting because it is so small and it goes through the narrow streets near major attractions. The arrangement made by goaheadtours was great. The bus took us to somewhere everyday. So we could just relax and enjoy. They also took us to Caserta and Montecassino which otherwise would be hard to go. The food was delicious. People are very friendly and helpful. Amazingly, I bumped into my tour director from my 2007 tour! I wish I were brave enough to try the chair lift in Anacapri and ran faster to see all the fountains at Caserta. Well, there is always next time …
