Grand Tour of Italy

This was a wonderful tour. My wife and I not only got to see most of Italy, we also learned a lot about the culture, customs, and history of the country. It was a busy time because our schedule was very full but I would highly recommend the Grand Tour with 2 day extension to anyone who wants to see and learn a lot about Italy in a relatively short period of time.

Italy is Great

What a great trip. I can't believe we did so much in two weeks. Even though we had a large group of 43 eveything went smooth. Our tour director, Enrico, was the best. He was very organized and kept the group energized with informative and fun talks while on the bus. We took all the excursions and most were very good especially the trip to Capri. If we had it to do over we would have skipped the Tarantella Dinner show and the Dinner with Tenors. Although they were fun we would have preferred to try one of the local nearby restaurants on our own. Also, I would recommend dropping the Catacombs part of that excursion and include another Rome site along with St Pauls which was great. I would recommend this trip to anyone ready for an exciting fast paced tour of Italy. We had a great group and lots of fun.

Grand Tour of Italy

This was the trip of our life time and it met our expectations. Our tour director was superior - knowledgeable, spoke clearly, fun, personable, efficient and accomodating. She was always watching out for our best interest. The bus driver, an important person for the tour, was pleasant and a skilled driver. The historical and regional information was given in a clear and precise manner with maps and other handouts. Suggestions for dinner were also appreciated. We appreciated the information on the correct proceedures and customes of the area. It made our visit more enjoyable and made us feel like part of the country. Looking forward to our next Go Head Tour.

Grand Tour of Italy

This vacation was just great and we had a great tour director Monique and a wonderful bus driver who could get into places that were unbelievable. It was more than we expected and all the places that we went to were wonderful. The only negative thing that I can say about the tour is that one of the reasons I booked with them was that they said that the tour groups were usually small. We had 42 people in our tour and it was trying at times. Other than than I would greatly recommend using them. Sylvia O'Neil, Vermont

Beautiful Italy!

Thank you GOAHEAD for a fantastic first tour! The tour director, Stefania, was absolutely professional, personal, funny and always kept us moving to the next great experience. Our bus driver was very professional, skilled and kept us safe despite what appears to be caotic traffic and many "MAMA MIA" corners abound in Italy. As usual, the people on the trip is what helps to make the trip special and our tour group was a diverse bunch from across the US and Canada. The Grand Tour of Italy is an active tour and keeps you moving. It is not extremely physically demanding, just a lot of walking and some of it is up/down hillls and uneven terrain(Pompeii). The tour does offer free time in each of the visited locations and some people used this time to rest and have a sit down dinner to experience the food, but we tended to continue moving and seeing the sights as we are active people and in our mid 40's. If you tire easily or have trouble walking, I would suggest that you not sign up for some of the walking excursions and use this time to rest/recover. As GOAHEAD states, bring comfortable shoes or you will be sorry. This is not the time to break in a new pair of shoes, go with the tried and true. The Grand Tour of Italy itinerary allows you to see a great deal of Italy in a short time: Lake Como, Verona, Venice, Bologna, Florence, San Gimignano, siena, assissi, perugia, pompeii, sorento, capri, rome, .... However, Pisa and Cinque Terre are two areas that are not included so we added 3 days of independent travel to the start of our trip and GOAHEAD allowed us to fly in 3 days early(no extra charge). When we were done, we joined up with our tour at the first hotel and did not miss a beat. This allowed us to see all the Italy we wanted. You may have certain things in Italy that are not include in the tour and you can make it happen with a little homework and communications with GOAHEAD. I would recommend the extended stay option in ROME(if you have the time and stamina) because there is just not enough time to do ROME properly without the extension. Monday Museum Closures. Be mindful of this when in Florence and Rome because it will force you to make compromises, but quite honestly, you can't see everything on this 15 day tour. On the tour, if you like to linger(and we sometimes do), you may feel a little rushed on some of the guided tours. They do have a schedule as this tour packs in a lot of italy in the 15 days but in some cases you have a change to go back and see more later. Excursions: We did most of the excursions and found them to be of good value with the exception being the dinner in Fiesole which seemed a little overpriced(it was just a bus ride to the dinner and in September it was dark and we could not really see any scenery). The Tarantella Dinner was a great surprise as the dinner and show were fantastic. Independent Dinning in Italy: Generally, 4 of us could eat a very nice dinner with a litre of wine(sometime 2) and desert for 100 euros. I'd recommend the "ROSSO DE LA CASA" house wine in any restaurant in Italy. Wine flows cheap and freely in Italy and is generally of good quality. We stayed in the same hotels for 2 or 3 nights at a time which made the tour a little less hectic. This also made doing laundry a snap. I highly recommend the Grand Tour of Italy by GoAhead, Doug from Ontario Canada

Wonderful vacation

Thank you Grand Tour for a lovely vacation. This was the first time on your Tour and we can not say enough good things about it. I think what we enjoyed the most was the beautiful scenery, nice hotel accommodations and of course our great Tour Guide David. He was so knowledgable, and what a beautiful voice!! The people we met on this trip left us with many memories, what interesting and wonderful traveling companions. In fact, it was so nice I think my husband and I will go back again..

It Was Grand!

!The Grand Tour of Italy was awesome! Worth every penny!! This tour just got better and better. Everytime I fell in Love with a city I re-fell in Love with the next one. I actually did find where my heart belonged, and that would be Sorrento! Words cannot describe the tour. You really must see it for yourself :) Will I go back?? You bet! I was a solo traveler and a bit nervous, but our Tour Director David was the best! And, I loved my new group of friends. Everyone was really nice and brought something different to the table. I miss all of you :( I hope that we will be able to keep in touch, and who knows maybe one day we can do another group tour. OMG! How fun would that be?? Andiamo i miei amici ! Lisa from Baltimore
