London City Stay
This trippp suited me fine as I have been to London many times before and it was good to have travel arrangements, hotel and connections handled. A number of the other group travelers had done the same thing. It was good to have a good tour director available when needed
Freedom and Latitude
Was pleased to have the mundane aspects of planning a trip handled by Go-Ahead, allowing me the freedom to focus on what I really wanted to do in London. The City Stay concept offers the independent traveler a wide array of choices and I'm surprised that more travelers are not aware of the advantages of the concept.
Best of Both Worlds
This was my first trip with GoAhead and my first city stay. I am totally sold on the city stay concept; from having airport pickup/dropoff, a Tour Director available in the lobby every day for answering questions to having optional excursions. On the other hand, I liked that there was ample time to explore London on my own, and being able to have meals when desired and not have a preset time and place for meals allowed for more flexibility.
City London Stay
Other than our tour guide, Kaye, the trip was disappointing. Kaye was awesome! However, we waited an hour for our bus to pick us up at the airport and take us to the Kensington Close hotel which was unsatisfactory. Construction at the hotel was ongoing and noisy. Elevators slow or not working. Fire alarm went off one night (no staff around to guide guests out), then learned the next day that this is a weekly occurrence. Room thermometers did not work and rooms extremely warm. One couple did not have water for two days after arrival. Another couple did not get soap for four days. Others had to be moved from their rooms due to water or other problems. We personally witnessed one GoAhead guest go to front desk and the employee (honestly) looked at him, turn around, and walk away. A similar thing happened (the employee just looked at us) when we asked if the hotel had a business center (which it does not and we ended up going to the hotel next door to print out our boarding passes for our flight out). Forget about asking for a wake up call. It won’t happen. The staff was very rude and just not interested in accommodating guests. The hotel turned off our key cards two days early and we had to obtain new ones. What is more disappointing is that GoAhead has been aware of such problems with the Kensington Close hotel since prior to changing the hotel from the original one (the Plaza down by Westminster) back to Kensington Close. (I remember service issues on our London-Paris trip and when we learned about the hotel change, my friend spoke to GoAhead who assured us we would be staying in a brand new hotel). Very disappointed since my first two trips with GoAhead were good.
BAD flight times, BAD Hotel
Very disappointing. We extended the tour to 9 days and lost two days of the trip due to very poorly selected flight times. Go Ahead changed our hotel at the last minute to The Kensington Close Hotel . This is the same hotel they put us at during our trip 4 years ago. It was bad then and Go Ahead was told how bad it was then. We voiced our concern to Go Ahead after finding out they were putting at this hotel once again and were assured it would be wonderful, "like staying at a brand new hotel". We were assured by Go Ahead that the renovations would be complete by the time we arrived. Renovations were not complete and were ongoing our entire stay. There are two lifts (elevators in lobby) and one broke down the second day and remained out of order until the day before we left. Renovations will not "fix" the problems at this hotel. They could care less about the comfort of their guests. One lady had no hand soap in her room...took the hotel 4 days to give her hand soap. A few people in our group had no water to their rooms. Fire alarm went off one night. Evacuation was orderly thanks to the guests. There was no sign of any hotel employees. No hotel employee was visible helping to direct or offering aid, help or assurance. It was disgusting. They offer no services beyond a room.
review of London city stay tour
I enjoyed my first trip to Europe. London seemed to be a great gateway to Europe. I liked that I had the freedom to do what I wanted but also spend some time with my group. Kay, my tour director, was great and very approachable. Deborah
A wonderful, educational and memorable trip!
The London City Stay was perfect. Tours were great and guides were so good. Phone card offered worked well for me. And we had sunshine every day!
London City Stay
The tour did not go as planned because no one wanted to do the planned excursions. We were left to our plans, and let me tell you, Kay our guide was just great. She helped us explore London on our own. She was great helping us get our "tube" pass "tap on tap off" and London was ours, what a greaty lady. London opened up to us as we have never thought. The Tower, Winston's war rooms, the Eye, and the play 39 Steps. Even the food, who knew! Yes we would go with Goahead Tours again.
London City Stay
Our group had a great time. I really liked the versatility of this tour. You can take advantage of the extra excursions or you can tour London on your own. Our tour director had other excursions that we could take advantage of and I just wish we had known in advance that there were these other options available. The tour guide was very helpful and helped make our stay memorable.
London stay
The tour guide was great. Really knowledgable and very helpful I would recommend the trip. However would have appreciated knowing how small the rooms are at the hotel Very small room small bed but they were comfortable. The hotel was in a great location
