Beautiful Ireland
The Grand Tour of Ireland covered many of the things we wanted to see. There were a couple of things we wanted to see that were not on the tour and decided to stay after the tour finished and do them on our own. Go Ahead worked with us to get us a return flight two days after the tour ended at no extra charge to us. This has been our sixth tour with Go Ahead and we continue to be very inpressed with the company's helpful attitude, reasonably-priced tours, and professional staff - from the office folks in Cambridge to the tour directors, and even the coach drivers.
A Great Trip
This was a wonderful trip. It included all of the coastal features and historic sites that I wanted to see. Though rarely rushed, there was always something to see or do. My favorite features were the burren, Cliffs of Moher, Giant's Causeway, Glendalough, Bunratty Castle and the dinner in Dunguire Castle. I wanted to visit Northern Ireland and enjoyed being there; it added so much to my sense of history to actually be there. The trip could only be improved by making it longer, but that could be difficult for some people.
Grand Tour of Ireland
This trip was very enjoyable and a good value. a few of our lunch stops and visits inbetween destinations were better than the destinations themselves. Find a way to add more free time to this trip! 70% of all my pictures were taken through the bus window.
enjoyable trip
Enjoyed the Ireland trip in spite of the weather. Locals told us it was the wettest June on record. One day was cold, 45 degrees! However, the Guinness and the great people made up for it. Nice experience overall. Good itinerary, gave you a feel for all the different areas and landscapes of Ireland. Really enjoyed the horse cart ride through the park in Killarny. Galway city was a nice surprise. Lots of neat pubs and shopping there. Dublin hotel was very nice and close enough to walk to downtown. We enjoyed the optional castle dinner in a neat old actual castle. Even though it rained a lot, everything was fine, I would recommend the trip to friends.
My second trip in two years.......Will do another
Everything happened on time........Love that. Accomodations were first class and locations well selected.Tour director and coach drivers were beyond compare. Their friendly attitude and concern for travellers were outstanding qualities. I have toured Ireland many times in the past 40 years and must say, "Grand Tour of Ireland" lives up to it's name. Special mention for our tour director Jonathan Fisher whose extensive knowledge of his home country was dispersed to us all in clear and friendly stories understood by all.
Ins and outs of Ireland
My second visit to Ireland was much more comprehensive due to traveling on a tour with learned guides; as opposed to trying to set my own itinerary which was much more hit and miss. A few recommendations are: 1. The Giants Causeway should be an included excursion due to the fact that there is little else of interest in the area and it is a scheduled two night stop. 2. It would be much more convenient if some of the hotels were located within walking distance of the downtowns. 3. A list of recommended alternative adventures, museums and restaurants at the various stops. 4. The tour directors should learn names of the people in their tours. First names would seem sufficient. All in all, a good and informative trip. Thanks, Pegg Dodson
Grand Tour of Ireland
I was very impressed with our Tour Director (& day tour guides) of the knowledge of the history of Ireland and the counties we visited. I felt safe with our Bus Driver who knew the roads both Inter-State and the local road ways. My favorite town was Waterford including the hotel we stayed at (The Granville Hotel). There is so much history in Waterford & the US. I enjoyed all the Irish people and the food was delicious. I very much would go back to Ireland.
Tour of Ireland
I enjoyed seeing Ireland, but felt like I spent too much time on the bus. I guess I would rather see less, more closely, and travel less.
42 Shades of Green in the Emerald Isle
It is always interesting to reflect on the sights, sounds and flavors after one has returned home from a tour. The 15 day circle tour of Ireland including Northern Ireland was an enjoyable opportunity to experience the variable geography, history and culture that makes Ireland so special. Although we experienced rain on arriving in Dublin, there are always friendly pubs or stores that one can duck into. It rained on our visit to Powerscourt, but the gardens can still be admired from under an umbrella. The visit to Irish National Stud the home of Irish thoroughbred horse breeding was delightful not only for the lovely horse park but the stunningly beautiful Japanese Garden. The gardens seem to be in abundance whether at Blarney Castle or Kylemore Abbey. Our group of 23 was a great size to become acquainted with new travelers. We have returned home with a greater appreciation for Irish music, Irish cuisine and of course the "spirits of Ireland" reflected in the Guinness, Jamesons and Bushmills. The optionals on the tour are well-conceived and we found that they greatly enriched the tour for us.
