Beware of the Gypsy!
I definately love London. It is so much like New York and I felt right at ease moving around London. Paris I adore but found it to be more for romantic couples/romance and the Parisians are nice but not as outgoing. The atmosphere is totally different from London. Amsterdam is not what I expected it to be. It is cold and untrusting yet full of adventure, excitment and old and new world technology. Without notice or warning you can easily fall victim to the gypsies and left feeling totally trapped and helpless in a foreign country without help or direction to get home. Before all eyes, my friends purse with passport and all else was taken from her inside the hotel lobby. With the help of a wonderful all knowing tour director and the Go Ahead Tour Agency we were able to successfully return home. However, it was a cloudy and expensive trip home. So traveler beware of the gypsy in Amsterdam.
London, Paris, Amsterdam
enjoyed all of the tour
We saw much in 10 days
We like the idea that we were on our own in the ctities, in lieu of being excorted around. You learn more about the city and the people this way. The guide was there to help us, but we still had to make our own way.
LPA
The London hotel was not in the city which made it difficult to get back to when we were out touring until later on in the evening or when we went out for dinner or drinks b/c the above ground stopped running. Aside from that the hotel was great. The Stonehenge and Bath excursion was very enjoyable (probably my favorite part). The Paris hotel was in a great location, there was plenty of public transportation to get to and from it and the Seine dinner and cruise was great, the restaurant was superb and even though it was a bit chilly the cruise was very entertaining. The Amsterdam hotel was centrally located to all the areas that we wanted to see, so it couldn't have been better the food at all the cities was unbelievably delicious. The Amstel dinner cruise was a blast and probably the best night of the whole tour because our tour group had fun together and then hung out afterward.
A Life Time of Special Memories
My daughter and I picked this tour because you get 3 countries in a short time, which fit our schedules. Plus, she just got done taken French in school. Besides the normal tour stuff, which was great, definitely use your free time to explore the countries. You will learn and see more by yourselves as I describe in this review. In London take the opportunity to ride the London Eye and enjoy the street performers. Go shopping in Soho where the unique shops have everything. Also, visit the Trafalgar’s Square to find inexpensive antiques at the Flea Market. Don’t forget to visit the Harry Potter 9 ¾ platform. Have fun finding it because it was a fun adventure for us figuring out which stop to get off the Underground Tube. Remember, when buying Tube ticket here 16 years old and under are considered children, which will save you money if traveling with teenagers. You must eat at the original famous Hard Rock Café. If you are a person that loves to exercise go to Hyde Park. You will get plenty of exercise there like we did because it is huge. Then last but not least go to the Tower of London. In Paris you should definitely ride the Eiffel Tower to the top at night but be aware that some of the Metro trains stop running at midnight. The Metro can be confusing especially trying to get out with your ticket at those turnstiles. You have to be quick when you put your ticket in and move quickly through while grabbing your ticket. Hint “Sorté” in French means Exit. You can shop till you drop at the 5-story mall La Fayette in the Champs-Élysées area where you can find top of the line products like Prada, Gucci and many more. Be sure you keep plenty of change on you for the toilets because you have to pay at almost every public bathroom, which was definitely new for us. We enjoyed a boat tour and stopped to taste the street vendors crepes they were delicious. We again ate at the Hard Rock Café because we are trying to eat here in every country we visit by collecting shot glasses, a hobby of mine. In Amsterdam the most thing we remember seeing is the hundreds and hundreds of bicycles everywhere. Take a boat tour down the canals and you will see a five story-parking garage filled with nothing but bicycles. It was amazing. You have to watch closely when crossing the road its like the game Frogger because you have the bicyclers lane and if you hear a ringing sound move quickly out of the path they will not stop and the car lanes and the street cars to look out for as well. We did the Amsterdam Dungeon ride that was fun. Then we ate at the Hard Rock Café again. Take a walk around the cobble streets to shop for wooden shoes just remember your shoe size is in centimeters and buy the beautiful stein mugs because you will never get lost you always end up back at the Dam Square. Behind the Church at the Dam Square you will find the Red Light District where you can window shop for a companion to spend time with for about 15 minutes or so and the best time to shop is during the day because at night you might be surprised what you see. There were small shops that sold unique gifts. Just remember everything in Amsterdam is legal. Taking this tour with Go Ahead was one of the best decisions I could have made for my daughter and myself. The time and experiences we had together will forever be cherished. We lived, learned and grew from this adventure. We will go again but this time to Spain because my daughter has taken 3 years of Spanish.
Great Experience
This tour allows you to experience three of the most popular cities in the world in a relatively short period with ample time to hit all of the major sights.
Great memories!!
I really enjoyed England and Paris but Amsterdam was beautiful but not my type of place.
Places I';ve Never Been
Tour director was very personable. Accomodations in some cities could have been better. Good tour for those who like independence. There were plenty of opportunities to venture off on your own. Learning the rail system was quite an experience.
London Paris Amsterdam
Everything was well organized, smooth transitioning, and we had an excellent tour guide, that could easily handle whatever situation came up. All of the accommodations were clean and comfortable and we were able to negotiate each country's train systems with ease. What a refereshing concept to not be dependent upon a car! We will definitely use Go Ahead Tours when we have occasion to travel abroad again!
