Kenya Safari

This was wonderful experience. More than I imagined. Lots of African wildlife to view and photograph, breath taking landscape and beautiful people. Our guide Francis Sadera (Vintage Africa) was extraordinary. Well informed about the wildlife and habitat as well as Kenya's culture past and present. He made the trip so much more worthwhile. I'd request him if I had the chance again. I think the vehicles could have had better shock absorbers. I understand it is rough use, but that and moving about a lot took it's toll on me physically. Sincerely, Robert Brockman

Kenya and Tanzania

I recently returned from the Kenya/Tanzania tour. It was great! We saw alot of animals in all the game reserves. The van drivers were helpful and very knowledgeable about the animals and culture. The tour directors were helpful in facilitating the border crossing and information about the tour. I liked that the tour group was smaller in number, only 22, as this helped to get to know our fellow travelers. I was not prepared for the VERY rough roads. If I had realized how jarring the roads would be everyday and all day, I would have planned for it better to reduce the impact on my arthrititis. Usually, on GoAhead tours the tour directors took care of the tipping of porters and bellmen. It was not clear on this trip if that was included as the tour directors mentioned tipping would be acceptable. All of the hotel accomadations were very good. Some more rustic than others, but that added to the experience. The tour activities are very casual and clothing should reflect this.I would recommend anyone planning this tour to pack light as there is not alot of room in the vans for luggage.

Kenya Safari

I am just back from 12 days in Kenya. What a wonderful trip. I want to personally commend you for your selection of our Tour Guide "Francis" He is so knowledgeable and was so personally committed to making sure that we had answers to all our questions, that our comfort was attended to, and that this Vintage Africa Tour was the very best it could be. I think I have never known anyone to be informed on so many levels. Our politics, Kenya politics, Animal habits, Bird species. What a wonder. Lucky Go-Ahead, Lucky Vintage Africa.

Kenya Wildlife Safari

This is a thorough, well conceived tour, bound to demolish many of your preconceived notions about this far away and exotic continent. My wife and I found the serene moments observing wildlife to be epic, moving and at times even spiritual. James our guide was knowledgeable, courteous, dedicated and very safety conscious. The Tanzania extension was well worth it and an interesting contrast at times to their neighbor to the north. The driver/guide was also very helpful. We might have liked to spend more days there. This trip exceeded our expectations overall.

Not so good!

I enjoyed the experience of viewing wild life in Kenya. The hotels and lodges were quite comfortable. All the included meals were fine. I did not think that the vehicles used for transport and game rides were adequate - especially since our van could not climb a very steep section on a game ride and we were stuck there for quite some time before they could pull it up. We were not allowed to get out of the vehicle and were in a precariously tilted position - this could have been easily avoided by using a bigger vehicle with a 4 wheel drive! We saw those vehicles being used all around us by other tour companies. Because of this I would not recommend this tour. We were a group of 13 people but our seating in the airplanes was not properly handled. Since we had booked the tour about a year in advance, the tour director should have made sure that our seats were closer together. And our rooms could have been closer or at least on the same floor or section! We had one single female in our group and instead of giving her a room near others in the group, she was given a room at one side of the compound in Masai Mara - so far that it was not even within the ear-shot of others! There was no one else in that section! The tour director failed quite miserably in that respect. We managed to exchange rooms within our group to make her feel safe.

Kenya Safari

My wife and I just returned this past week from our Kenya safari including the Tanzania extension. We cannot stop talking about it with our friends, family and co-workers. Everyone is so fascinated with the pictures and the myriad of anecdotes. It trully is a life changing experience. Go Ahead Tours offers a great experience with above and beyond accomodations for a price point that certainly seems affordable.

bucket list trip

My husband and I just got back from the trip of a lifetime. We were so pleased about how everything was ran. The tour company eased us into the safari mode gently with the Karen Blizen home and the Giraffe Manor and ended with the most exciting sites of Lions and Lioness and cubs eating a kill recently made. Our tour driver Ken was extremely knowledgable about where the animals can be found at different times of the day. The accommodations where excellent and put you into the mood of the trip. We had brought our airplane neck pillows with us and used them to sit on when on safari which eased the bumps. I took the suggestion and bought rolling duffle bags as luggage and it worked out perfectly. We left one bag in Nairobi and took one with us with 6 days worth of clothes and then came back to Nairobi and packed for the other 3 days with fresh clothes stored at the hotel. The back packs were our carry-on luggage and they were perfect for our daily safaris, my husbands were full of camera equipment and I carried the hand sanitizers which were a must. We didn't find a need for the deets during the day but used it as the sun set just incase. We met so many wonderful people and exchanged e-mail address. We did not go on the Tanzanian section as we did a stopover in Dubai for 4 days prior. This indeed was a wonderful experience that I will never forget. Thank you GoAhead Tours!!!

Trip to Africa

Go Ahead should look into providing their customers with an option of four wheel drive vehicles for travel with a little more comfort and space since most of the time is spent in the vehicle. Food and service was great in most places as well as average in few places. Go Ahead tour should consider offering their customers with the proper duffle bags along with appropriate clothing (at extra cost obviously). Providing hats and blankets in Nairobi was very thoughtful. Vintage Africa drivers were knowledgeable and friendly...especially our driver..Joseph. Being a big group, communication from the tour supervisor was sporadic.....room for improvement.

Great African Safaris

This was a wonderful trip, fast paced, many changes of lodging and many different types of lodging from 5 star resorts in Tanzania (extension) to tented facilities that were charming if not luxurious. tour vans were a little old and you really felt the bumps but it got us there and back. Seeing the animals in their natural habitats instead of zoos was thrilling. We got so close to some of the animals, it was amazing. We were fortunate to see all of the big 5.

Our African Vacation

We enjoyed our trip to the extent that we cant wait to return to Africa. Our only complaints would be the amount of downtime that we had to endure. On the day that some people signed up and did the balloon ride, the rest of us did nothing but wait and then drive to the next nights destimation. We should have at the very least have had a short morning game drive while we waited for the others to return. We thought this was very poorly planned and figuring for the two of us the cost of that day was over a thousand US dollaars.
