Give me a week to recover, then let me go again!
Great tour, good pick of sights to see. 2 things to improve: 1)the bus after Sevilla was not the most comfortable. Also, we had a blowout tire and the spare was in worse shape than the blownout tire??? There was one incident when we were traveling a perhaps too high a speed under windy conditions to Barcelona. The bus got whipped by the wind, escape panels in the roof opened and we were lucky the driver was able to correct the bus before it turned over! He then pulled over, closed the escape panels and slowed down the rest of the way. More than a little scary! Also, the Flamenco Show and Carriage Ride in Sevilla was terrible...see my written review submitted to Carmen. The Flamenco Show in Granada was wonderful however.. On the other hand, Carmen was great...gave her all. Even took us on unscheduled city walks to introduce us when we got to a city. Over and above the job. Also, Beatrice took good care of us in Barcelona after Carmen went home.
Grand Tour of Spain
Trip was comprehensive, informative, kept us moving at a fast pace. Tour guide Carmen was one of the best I've ever had. Great knowledge of history and facts. Went above and beyond her responsibilities to make us feel comfortable and showing us all the sites. Great trip!
Good trip
Full schedule with some breaks for downtime. One of the best tour directors, Carmen, who has plenty of knowledge and enthusiasm to share her knowledge. Comfortable accommodations. Very few downs. We would have not toured Gibraltor in exchange for more time in Marbella.
Grand Tour of Spain
Very Enjoyable even given two flat tires. Tour Director was outstanding and did everything she could to make the trip successful. Please avoid Gibralter or make it optional; it was a real waste of time for me. Spend another day in Barcelona before the extended stay; not enough time to see everything important.
Whirlwind tour of Spain
Wonderful whirlwind tour of the major sights of Spain. Probably would not take optional tour of Morroco again, was somewhat disappointing. Optional trip to Monserat was very good. Tour director was fantastic .
Great view of Southern Spain
We had very good accommodations, great provided food (with one exception), good local guides, and a great tour director. Everything went smoothly and according to schedule. We elected all of the optional excursions, and our only regret is selecting Morocco rather than staying in Marbella and having some leisure time. We both had a great time, and although we did not know any of our traveling companions, they all were fine people , and we made some good new friends. We are extremely happy that we took this tour.
Great way to get a taste of Spain.
We wanted a hassle free tip to see some of the highlights of Spain. We now know a lot more of the history of the area, and the areas we would like to revisit. The tour guide was excellent, very helpful, and a lot of fun. Spain is a large, diverse country and this gave us a great overview. I would highly recommend it.
Espana is a MUST...
Our itinerary was well planned and included significant highlights of history, art, local traditions, and food. Carmen combines knowledge, wit, interpersonal skills, and positive energy to qualify her as the perfect tour guide. Even though only two weeks have passed, I am ready to join this group of wonderful travelers for another Go Ahead Adventure!
Great tour director
I had a wonderful time--in large part because we had a marvelous tour director, Carmen. She was energetic, enthusiastic and friendly. Her knowledge of the history and geography of the places we visited was vast. She added a lot of extras, in particular informative evening walks before or after most of our group dinners. The information she provided us on these walks was often greater than the local guides gave us. The local guides were uneven. In Madrid our large group (40+) was split in two and we had 2 guides. Frederico, who led my group through the Prado and Palace, was outstanding: informative, funny, and always audible. In other cities, some of the guides seemed bored with what they were doing. Also after Madrid we had one local guide for the whole tour group not two, and I often could not hear the guide. The hearing devices ("Whispers") were often staticky and the guide's speech unclear. I think this was due to 2 things. First, the guide held the microphone in her hand and often turned away from it or held it close to other noises instead of wearing a headset. Second, the group was just too big. I could not always stand close enough to the guide to pick up a clear signal. Also because of the size of the group I could not ask the guide questions. Either the tour group should have been smaller or we should have had two local guides in all the cities.
Very enjoyable. Good value
The tour director was the best ever and played a major role in making the experience memorable. Loved the hotel locations, although the Madrid hotel room was below standard. The "upgrade" in Granada was not as advertised. Enjoyed Gibraltar, but the free time was a waste. After visiting the cave and monkeys, the tour should just continue without a break. Barcelona was overrated, particularly the shopping experience; store after store with the exact same merchandise and pricing. Optional excursions were great, particularly the Morrocco day trip and Toledo.
