Perfect in every way
Please do not hesitate to travel to Israel / Jordan. The group was great, the guides and drivers excellent, hotels and food were exceptional. I like seeing archeological sites and learning about ancient civilizations - this trip did not let me down. Really is was a wonderful trip all the way around.
Israel and Jordan
From Bibical history and the belief in Jesus Christ as the King of Kings, the trip to Israel and Petra in Jordan was idescribale for me. Seeing the Eastern gate, the Jezzel Valley, where the final battle will be fought, standing on Mount Nebo where God led Moses and showed him the Promised Land, walking areas of the dead sea valley where Soloman wrote his songs and walking the via Delarosa up to Calvery where Christ sacrificed himself for mankind's freedom, all emphasized my belief and security. Then Petra was almost unbelieveable but reinforced the stamia and determination of the human being. I am still in awe of the entire trip and the GOAHEAD guidance and leadership of the tour directors. A Wonderful Tour into History
Had concerns about going to Israel/Jordan but trusted GoAhead reps who assured us of safety. Never felt unsafe the entire trip. To see the room of the Last Supper, walk the Via Delarosa, touch the Western Wall was amazing! Then add Petra and floating in the Dead Sea and you have the trip of a lifetime. Would definitely recommend this trip with the reservation that it is indeed a strenuous level. But well worth it!
A must to complete life's experiences!
My favorite fun day was Masada, Dead Sea, and the Bedouin evening. To see the Dead Sea through Herod's eyes from his 2000 year ago winter palace was way cool! Worth every penny. And I proved to myself that I can float without trying in the Dead Sea. Amazing! Touching the Wailing Wall, the most holy Jewish site in Jerusalem, proved to be a very emotional experience. Petra proved to be a very physically demanding venture, but only by choice. I walked the full 6km round trip, and it was worth every step. Our guide in Jordan, Suleiman, was a cute little jewel, very anxious and willing to show his country is a safe and wonderful place to visit.
The Wonders of Ancient Israel
It was a faith-filled experience...a trip of a lifetime! Walking through the places where Jesus was born, raised, evangelized and died for the salvation of all was a very touching trip for all of us. It was worth the sacrifice we ever did for a good cause.....to feel and be in the presence of God in this tour. We want to go back! The place is safe, the people are warm and we felt at home despite the great distance we traveled. The hotels are clean, foods are great and the weather is fantastic....everyday was cool with bright sunshine all day! Thanks, Go Ahead!
Amazing!
Israel is a phenomenal country, filled with culture, history, beautiful terrain, friendly people, and delicious food. The Wonders of Ancient Israel tour does an excellent job highlighting the beauty of this amazing place.
Intense Israel Tour (Ancient Wonders)
Overall, this tour was very enriching. The places we saw and the people we met were interesting and friendly (for the most part). The pace was needlessly challenging and compacted because of travel schedule changes but because of our tour guide (Miki) and driver (Kamal) the tour was very much a fun and educational time. The highlights - there were so many of them. Masada was spectacular, the Dead Sea quite enjoyable, Capernaum, Bethlahem, and the Mount of Olives fascinating. The churches brought my faith to the emotional forefront at times. Since our tour group had quite a few older people (70's and 80's!) I thought it might be too difficult for them at times. I need not have worried. Our tour guide guided those with a slower gait than the rest of us with grace and style. The first hotel (Dan Panorama) we stayed at was not ready for us and the person in charge was not friendly in the least toward us. We had to wait several hours before we could get to our room after traveling half-way round the world. None of the people I spoke with were happy about the wait or the condition of the rooms. The other hotels were great. Great attitude from the staff, clean and well-cared for rooms, and the food. Oh, my - the food! Delicious!
Only good for Seniors over 75
This was supposed to be a challenging trip. However, many folks on the tour were aged and the director slowed the tour to accommodate their physical requirements. Go ahead tour did everything to fill up the tour even if folks were incapable of having a challenging tour. For those of us who were physically fit and signed up for a more rigorous tour, we were sorely disappointed.
The Wonders of Ancient Israle
Definitely for the history buffs with a religious undertone. Seeing the archealogical sites are only overshadowed by "walking in the footsteps of Christ". Of note, the religious sites will always be crowded so bring your patience along with your reverence.
Tour of Israel and Jordan
The tour was an excellent value, but physically challenging. Lot of walking and climbing of steps and stairs. Tour director in Jordan spoke very poor English and our group probably understood around 25% of what was said. I would suggest the director in Jordan provide a small inexpensive map of where we were and where we were going. Both tour directors probably should have a brief orientation of the day's activities before departing each morning. Since lunches were not furnished, I would suggest a reasonably priced box lunch for those who desire it, rather than large $50 lunches for two at a restaurant. This hurt financially. Overall, my wife and I really enjoyed the trip and the knowledge we received from it. We would recommend the tour to others.
