A Trip through History

In 3 weeks we were on 3 continents, N. America, Europe & Africa. We saw so much that it is still hard to wrap our heads around it. Mosques that were changed to cathedrals. A cathedral built right in the middle of a mosque from the 7th century.. A fragment of Christopher Columbus that lays in the Cathedral in Seville. the rock of Gibraltar that encases a Neanderthal-type skull to being occupied by the Romans, Moors and British. To go into the rock and stand on centuries of history. The Alhambra that was a fortress dated back to the 9th century occupied by so many nations. The moonlight shining on the Alhambra at night, makes it magical. Walking over a bridge that was built by the Romans and still used today. Architecture you cannot even describe. Lost in the size of the monmouth columns in the cathedrals. Original tile works dated back to the time of Christ. Some colors still very vivid today. Narrow cobblestone streets still used today like they were centuries ago. . . Bringing their wares on backs of donkeys. The smell of fresh spices and fresh meat for the daily shopper. The smell of the tannery just as it was centuries ago, and still used today. To see the Prado and the painting of the masters. This was a trip of a lifetime. If you love history you will love this trip. Our guide was fantastic and Go Ahead Tours made sure it was a special adventure for each of us. (They rented the movie Casablanca for us to watch while we on our bus ride to Casablanca. You can never see that movie too many times.) If you have not been to Spain, Portugal it really is a must go trip.. Charlie

Our Dream Trip

About 2 yrs ago my husband had some health issues. We decided it was time to do what we always dreamed of, instead of talking about it. We have both always wanted to see Portugal & Spain.I started checking websites for different companies. We had never been on a tour before. I looked at amenities, the size of the groups & etc. I called a few but did not get that warm & fuzzy felling I wanted. I had inquired with Go Ahead Tours. A very pleasant representative called to see if they could answer our questions. I explained what we were looking for. They sent us a brochure outlining the tours, side trips, amenities with cost. When I called with questions, they could always answer my questionsl I did not find that with all companies. There was no pressure with Go Ahead Tours as with other companies. Bottom line, we signed up with Go Ahead Tours & never regret it. It was our dream vacation & they made every effort to make it a dream for each of us. .The group was small so you were like a family, you did not get lost in the crowd like with larger tours. Our tour guide for the entire trip was phenomenal. The knowledge he had about the the country, history, culture & what to expect at each stop. He spoke 5 languages so he was always there to help us out. I must say it was our dream vacation. You will not be disappointed with Go Ahead Tours. Here is a photo of our group in Spain.

Fun and history in Iberia and Morocco

Loved everything in Spain, but would have loved to have Barcelona as a "regular" tour stop and not just for the extension. Also would have liked more than a few hours to spend in Sintra, Portugal. Morocco was very interesting but would have preferred the 9 hour bus ride between some cities be done instead by train. Tour director was very helpful and knowledable and very personable and funny too--a great combinaton. Looking forward to our next Go Ahead Tour (to France).

Morocco, Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar

Had a great guide which was very instructive. I love the atmosphere of the developing country. It's better if one can research the various cities visited in the tour brochure. The web site Google can satisfy this. The contents can be schetchy at times but it's better than nothing. the only problem is remembering the place and occasion of more than 3000 phots one may snap on the way because there are so many things to see.

Spain Portugal Morocco

Tour needed an extra day in Portugal other than that the tour was excellent. Got to see many sites, the tour guide, who lives in Spain, was very knowledgable. Morocco is a must see.
