Best international trip

Awesome sightseeing combined with great food and accommodations. Boathouse trip in Colchine was the best. Own cook and captain.

Needs some work

Our tour guide was very knowledegeable and friendly. The pace of travel was not enjoyable. Over a 4 day period, I calculated that we were in a bus for 20 hours. This was physcially uncomfortable as the bus did not have restrooms and the seats were not adjustable. I would remove Delhi from the trip, when we were there the places we were scheduled to visit were shut down for holiday prep. Go Ahead should have known that & planned accordingly. I would add more time in Mumbai. The hotel in Jaipur was awful, no hot water and the hotel staff was yelling to each other in the hallways at 4am. I didn't feel that we were well prepared for each days events. It would have been helpful the night before if we had been told that flights had been changed and meals were changed so buy food or, bring snacks, etc. Although downtime was scheduled in the trip, we never really had any because things had to be changed or traffic was intense. And if we would have had downtime there really wasn't much to do near any of the hotels we were staying at. This was a little disappointing. I like Rajat and Lael, great guys, did the best they could in the situation but I think more training on what Americans expect would be good. Or more training for the Americans on what to expect. So, to sum it up: better communication.

rich variety

If you have only two weeks to spend in India and want to sample a rich variety of landscapes in a short time, this is an excellent itinerary.

India North and South - review by Carlyn Kingston

This was my 3rd tour with Goahead and the second friend that joined me as my travel companion. Jet Air was OK but they had NO choice of American food - only Indian food. The director was excellent (Raj) but the guide in Cochin was very poor. It was a most hectic, rushed trip. I knew this, but would suggest two more days so that one can enjoy this exceptional country. In the past, I have traveled with Ofyssey and similar tour companies and could remember what I saw. Now, it's a jumble in my head and hopefully my photos will help !!! The pace did not due justice to what was seen and remembered. I was ever so pleased to be able to go to the south and the canal trip was a delight. My travel companion was most displeased with the trip. I would suggest that the hotel in the wildlife area buy larger, new room heaters. Our room was freezing and their foot long heater was most inadequate. Also, the buffet meals did not indicate mild or very spicy foods and the choices were usually the same.

good overall review of India

Our tour director was excellent; knowledgeable, mellow, flexible the bus was comfortable; water available, cool, stopped when necessary The hotels were excellent; high end, great food, nice rooms. our group was well suited to each other. No major blow-ups. the tour gave an excellent first visit to India. I felt safe and well taken care of. I would have liked more visual and musical art. It was a quick review of India not staying quite long enough in each spot.

Good but could have been better

Positives: The hotels were very good. The food was acceptable. The trip to the animal preserve was very well done as was the tours of the Taj and the many palaces. The elephant ride was a fun experience. Negatives: Our tour group was too large for the tour director who was a better match for a younger group. The tour director was also narrow in his knowledge of the culture and art of the country. Aside from the architecture, there was no art museums or gallery tours included in the tour. Although the trip to Kerala and Cochin were very interesting, there was no reason for the one night houseboat stay....it was not a good experience in any way other than seeing the canals. Delhi is a unappealing destination for any reason.

A most interesting Cultural Experience!

From the Start in Dehli, Rajeev warned us to "expect the unexpected'! We were engulfed in the unexpected continually, from the Taj Mahal to seeing the Bengal Tiger, to the many wedding processions we witnessed in Jaipur, riding on an elephant, more sights than I can begin to list, ending with the boat cruise on the Backwaters in Kerala. Thanks to a very experienced tour guide, this was certainly an educational experience that we will always remember.

Amazing Experience

This was my first tour and set a very high standard for all the others I hope to take in the future. India is an incerdible country and I loved every aspect of the trip but the tour director Rajeev was amazing and really made for a wonderful experience. Heena, our guide for Mumbai was also excellent. Thanks Go Ahead for the experience of a lifetime.
