WHAT AN EXPERIENCE
I HAVE TRAVELED INDEPENDENTLY FOR MANY YEARS. I FINALLY GOT SICK OF THE HASSLE OF DOING ALL OF THE PLANNING, DRIVING, AND STRESSING. ENTER "GO AHEAD TOURS". THIS TRIP TO ANCIENT GREECE WAS SO GREAT. ALL I HAD TO DO WAS SHOW UP - EVERYTHING ELSE WAS TAKEN CARE. WHILE IT IS HARD TO PICK OUT A FEW HIGHLIGHTS (AS EVERYTHING WAS WONDERFUL), I SHALL NEVER FORGET THE TOWN OF METEORA WITH ITS ROCK FORMATIONS. HOTELS AND FLIGHTS WERE TOP QUALITY AND ALL OF THE PEOPLE INVOLVED ARE SO NICE AND HELPFUL. I AM BOOKED ALREADY FOR NEXT YEAR - . ITALY
I LOVE GREECE!!
Our trip to Greece was absolutely amazing!! Every single part of it was just wonderful. From the tiny little villages in the mountains to the hustle and bustle of Athens. Even riding on the bus from place to place was great. It was a little scary but we had a fantastic bus driver, Dimitris, who kept us safe and knew the roads and mountains well. The views from the mountains down to the sea were probably the most beautiful I have ever seen. And I have never seen water the color of Aegean and Ionian Seas. The people of Greece were great as well. Everyone seems so laid back and friendly. When we got lost during our free time once, finding someone to help was easy and everyone tried to speak English! When we tried the few Greek words that we know, they made us feel like we spoke it perfectly. The food was fantastic. I am a vegeterian and a picky eater, but I always had plenty to eat, thanks in large part to our wonderful tour director Michael. He may be the best tour director we have had on our Go Ahead trips. He was so knowledgeable and friendly and patient with all of our questions and requests and shopping. He always had great ideas about what to do with our free time and where to eat and shop. He told great stories about Greek history, Greek mythology and the Greek culture now. He also knew when to keep quiet and let us just sleep on the bus. You could definitely see his passion and love for Greece. Awesome at his job. Advice for people taking this trip. This is a FAST trip. There are a lot of early, early mornings and a lot of days where you get to the hotel to sleep only to wake up and head to a new city. A great way to see a lot of the country in a relatively short amount of time, just be prepared! Also, be prepared to walk a lot. And on uneven ground sometimes. Wear comfy shoes and be prepared to see some amazing sights!! Absolutely worth it! I hope to go back soon.
The trip was wonderful, the historical site was very interesting and the tour guide gave us very good information on each areas. It was just wonderful Hubert Willis
Life changing trip!
I fell in love with Greece! A wonderful combination of art, history, and culture and experiencing the beautiful countryside. The hotels we stayed at were fabulous! The people were genuine and friendly.
Wonderful Tour
This was an excellent tour. It was well laid out and the travels throughout Greece were well planned as to distance traveled and also appropriate stops, We were able to spend time at each site unhurried. The addition of Corfu was a highpoint, in my opinion. The time spent there was great and I know of no other tour that goes there! I must also say that our tour guide, Michael, was great. He was informative, helpful and a wonderful personality. He did a lot of 'extra' little things for us.
Great trip with wonderful tour director.
It was everything I expected it to be, what a wonderful experience to tour ancient Athens, tour several islands, interact with the people, enjoy the delicious food, visit the exquiste museums and the religious ruins that I've read about in the Bible. It was a highlite to visit Olympia and to explore Ephesus once again. Our tour director, Roberto, was an absolute charmer and went out of his way to make sure everyone was treated like royalty. This was my third Go Ahead tour and I've just signed up for my fourth one. Lorna Kenney
Connected the myths with the reality!
Our tour director, Rob, was a consumate storyteller. He told the Greek fables in such a way that we not only understood them, but were totally entertained by the 'cliff hanger' quality that made us eager for the next day's events. Rob connected the historical events with the myths as we passed through the landscape that birthed them. Delphi and Meteora were the highlights for us. Meteora was engulfed in mist when we arrived. While we ate lunch, the sun burned through, revealing the spectacular monoliths and the monasteries perched on and in them. We enjoyed the time on our own, and felt safe within Rob's guidelines. This tour ranks high in our favorite trip category. Do go on the excursions!
a disappointment
our connections were missed in Atlanta, no one was there to help us. We made arrangements ourselves. When we did arrive in Athens, a day late, our luggage was delayed and we were without luggage for 5 days. on our return to the US our connection in Atlanta was AGAIN missed and we spent 10 hours in the Atlanta airport. . .The sites, hotels and tour guide were lovely.
