How To Improve Athens & Ancient Greece Tour

One BIG suggestion - allow more time to tour Athens keeping in mind that museums have differing schedules/closings and that bus & shuttle schedules are only spproximate due to demonstrations, airport runs, etc. I would suggest 3 full days in Athens to allow seeing the National Museum, the Acropolis Museum, and touring the districts. How to do this? Skip the day trip to Skorpios. Travel direct from Corfu to Rio, perhaps squeeze in Olympia or Corinth on that day. Bob stopped at Corinth and everyone was impressed. This should free up a day. In both Corfu and Naphion, Have the bus drop off everyone who would like to tour the inner city areas on their own and have a scheduled pickup if the numbers warrant. Otherwise, they can take taxis back to the hotel. People tend to be penny wise and pound foolish - avoid a ten euro cab ride and thus waste an entire afternoon. Clone Bob Sweetenham, need 1 on each tour.

Athens & Ancient Greece

This was one of the most amazing and educational trips I have been on. The scenery was unbelievable. I can not express the feeling when I was standing in Olympia where the first Olympic games were held in 776 B.C. knowing now the Olympic games are now and seeing the gounds then the people must have been so strong. They did so much with so little. Greece is a beautiful country and the people are very freindly. It is not hard to find your way in the cities. I wil always remember this trip and the things we saw.

Unbelieveable

This trip was very educational. Every city we went to was different yet showed you the culture of the people and how their lives have changed over the years. It was amazing to see the Acropolis and actually stand and touch the pillars. To look up at the pillars and know they were put in place by mens hands not machinery as we do now. So so unbelievable. It was a wonderful trip

The four stars is for land portion only . I will not recommend the cruise portion to anyone. Arriving at Mykonos at 6pm ( after dark ) and leaving at 9 pm was very poor planning . I am an experienced cruiser and I feel the cruise line used was substandard .... and expensive .

our favorite tour out of the 3 we trips with you

We have been on three Go-Ahead tours, and the one to Greece was our favorite trip. There were so many interesting things to see. We just loved it and would like to go again someday if we could.

Athens and Ancient Greece

I am a retired art teacher with a minor in English, and I spent 20 years teaching about Greek art and literature. I had always wanted to see those sites in person. This was a great trip for me for that reason. I enjoyed the ancient sites and the historical information. I was prepared for the pace of the tour. I have traveled with Go Ahead for 7 years. But I would only recommend it to those who could do the walking and hiking needed to view the sites. I do wish we could have had some more free time. But I do understand that in order to see it all, there is a really tight schedule. I enjoyed the bus driver and tour director. They were very knowledgable, friendly and helpful. I especially enjoyed the Greek islands. I would like to just do that trip someday to get a chance to spend more time on each island. The land tour was somewhat rushed, but the cruise was extremely rushed. But I did get to see what I did want to see. And felt like I had experienced all of Greece.

Great Way to See Greece

We got to see a lot of Greece. I wish the trip was a few days longer in order to see Crete and/or Santorini. Some of the hotel locations, like Athens, were not conducive to checking out the town.

good trip for value

We saw most of Greece on this trip. I wish the trip could have been a little longer in order to see more of the islands. The only problem was that the hotel was not well located in Athens.

Athens & ancient Greece

This tour was excellent especially for those who love History and archeology. It was a complete trip of Greece stopping in almost all of the important historical areas and scenic places as well. It is more than worth the extra money to add the cruise to the Greek islands visited. Go ahead guides are knowledgeable and very capable. The logistics of the trip was well handled. It was an unforgettable experience.
