English countryside and Wales

Overall tour was good. Think my previous trips years ago were better (Greek Islands Cruise, and Thailand). Our tour director, Jonathan, was Irish and didn't seem to be too enthusiastic about showing off England! Remarked about Ireland should not be part of the UK. An English guide showing us England would have been better, more patriotic. I wouldn't want to show a group the state of Arizona. I could study the history and highlights of that state, but I'm a native Californian and wouldn't have much enthusiasm for promoting another state. Also, there could have been a little more spontaneity on our tour. Jonathan, the engineer, was efficient, but seemed a little rigid and uncomfortable in his role as our leader. The local tour directors were all excellent. My husband, who was born in London, "wasn't anxious to go on the London city tour and thought he knew everything there was to know about London". Boy, was he wrong. Our guide Nikki was wonderful, and he got a new view about his birth city! The worst hotel on the tour was the Best Western in Caernarfon. It was pretty isolated and not impressive. Looks like you've already changed that one. Also, looks like you've changed the hotel in Bath. Our rooms at the Royal Hotel in Bath were like closets! The staff was nice, the food good, but that was about it. Since our group was so small (12 people), we missed out on 2 optional side trips due to lack of interest by others on the trip. That was disappointing. Highlight of our tour was the optional trip to Whitby, and the fabulous meal at the Magpie Cafe.

Extraordinary Scenery

London is always exciting because of royal family history and living activities! The London Eye optional is not to be missed. Eagle eye views and perfect "Kodak moments"! Other highlights of trip were "punting" at Cambridge, visiting Stonehenge, York Minster, and Snowdonia National Park. The countryside scenery was breathtaking with fields of green and yellow, dotted with grazing sheep. Then there's the food!! Fish and chips with mushy peas must be sampled along with other traditional pub foods.

Beautiful countryside and friendly people

As an avid international traveler, for some crazy reason this was my first trip to England and Wales...and I am hooked. The countryside was so beautiful -even on misty, overcast days. The English and Welsh people were so friendly. Loved it all, but wish I could have spent more time in Wales. And next time around, I'll be museum hopping in London - it's free.

Felt like I had been there before

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour but would have loved to spend more time in Wales.

Everything I expected and more…

The perfect combination of city and countryside with the excitement of London and the pastoral countryside of both England and Wales. Plenty of interesting history, delicious food including traditional English favorites, and fun things to do and see. This tour is a great new addition to Goahead's lineup! Loved it!
