Great tour
The tour was great: it was a good combination of guided sightseeing, commentary, and time for personal sightseeing. Paul was tremendous. Having lived under Soviet domination in Romania, he did a nice job of giving insights without causing a "downer" amongst the travelers. He's knowledgeable and able to give information on everything from where to change money to how to use the public transportation systems. The personal time gave an opportunity to attend concerts, eat at out-of-the-way cafes and simply absorb the atmosphere and the culture of the cities. Even the long bus trips were punctuated with restroom and lunch stops. I'll go again on a Go Ahead Tour.
Great Trip
Loved the Berlin extension, Prague, Budapest, and the added Polish salt mine. Nice variety on the trip.
Ok Eastern Europe
Too much time in less attractive places--travel arrangements poor--too many changes-------------
A Very Good Trip
The tour was as advertised, a great overview of Eastern Europe. Our tour director, Paul, was wonderful and it was the perfect combo of organized activity and free time. However there was so much to see in all of the cities we visited that we were "on the go" even in our free time.
Intense,trip w/ much information
The trip covered a lot of territory, but left us wanting in some key areas. Primarily I felt very annoyed at all the very costly "optional tours" many of which I think should have been included (e.g. The Jewish Quarter in Prague). I wish we could've had more guidance re things to do on our own e.g. Seeing Mucha's work at the Municipal Hall in Prague, or more information about the special Chopin 200th birthday celebrations available in Warsaw. Also, i think the tour needed to be 2 days longer to give better time in Poland. Four days in Poland was a misnomer especialy because we were on the bus for 1 1/2 of those days Tour was well organized, Tour director was very accommodating, bus and driver were the best. All the tour leaders were great except one, and i can't remember now where that was. I think I prefer a smaller group, and maybe need to not do tours at all.Hotels were reasonably located and all but Holiday Inn in Warsaw were good.
GOOD TOUR OF EASTERN EUROPE
THE GUIDES IN EACH OF THE CITIES WERE EXCELLENT AS WAS OUR TOUR DIRECTOR /GUIDE-- PAUL - HE WAS EXCELLENT , WAS VERY WELL ORGANIZED AND VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE.. THE ONLY THING ONE COULD COMPLAIN ABOUT WAS THE 9 HOUR BUS TRIP FROM PRAGUE TO KRAKOW --IT WAS NOT EXPECTED AND PERHAPS ANOTHER FORM OF TRANSPORT COULD HAVE BEEN USED TO HASTEN THAT TRIP..
Great overview of Eastern Europe
The tour showed a great overview of Eastern Europe - including some of the countryside. Had a great mix of tour time and free time. I learned a lot about a part of the world I did not know much about, and got in touch with my Polish heritage. Great hotels, great food & dining experiences and excellent optionals all made this a great trip.
great trip
Enjoyed and learned a great amount
highlights of Eastern Europe
We felt that this trip was very educational. It brought history classes we've taken in school to life: the architecture, the bridges and rivers. the palaces, the castles, the concerts and homes of composers, and the famous and infamous places such as Shindler's factory and Auschwitz. It was a very emotional journey back through time.
Highlights of Eastern Europe
Excellent tour itinerary. As a history major, thoroughly enjoyed visiting the Hapsburg empire.
