Highlights of Eastern Europe
This was our first trip with Go Ahead Tours. To be honest we were skeptical of what to expect since the price included soooo much. What we got were GREAT hotels, the BEST tour guide (PAUL) ever, great cities, great options, lots of history, comfortable bus and a great driver (ROBERT), value, wonderful recommendations, lots of time to explore on our own, and WAY MORE then we hoped for. THANKS Go Ahead, we would recommend you without hesitation.
Once in a lifetime experience
It was a memorable one. Even though we were hit by a cold spell it was not that bad. The places were fabulous and the pace was adequate. With only 7 people it was so easy to work together and much better to move around as a team also. Paula, our guide, was excellent; she knows the history and told the background information in a well versed manner as we traveled in a van through the countryside. My wife and I ended up walking a lot but we were still healthy enough to take that, and we enjoyed a lot. Definitely this travel will be a once in a lifetime experience. By signing up early we were able to save a lot also. If we started from Prague and moved to Vienna and then to Budapest and to Krakow, we could have saved a 4 - 5 hours of driving in going from Prague to Krakow directly (it took almost 8 hours).

Best Tour I've taken. Paula Muse my tour guide was great.
Very Rewarding Trip
Constantin was an incredible tour director. He gave us much more than we ever expected from the itinerary. It was an entertaining and very educational trip. Constantin's insights helped me understand the different cultures, both current and historical, and made it a much more personal experience. However, the film crew that was with us for part of trip were sometimes disruptive. They should have been advised ahead of time not to interfere with the enjoyment of the people on the tour. They shouldn't talk when the tour director is talking, they shouldn't shouldn't block views, etc. At times I felt like it was their tour and not ours.
Eastern Europe
This tour is fantastic. It is full of history, sadness, great sites, excellent food and outstanding hotels. Other than the flights and trasnferring via Paris, I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in Eastern Europe. The tour guide was outstanding, but there is alot of walking. The weather was cool but enjoiyable and the optionals were outstanding especially the Mozart concert in Vienna and Krakow.
Air Travel
The connections at DeGaul and Schipol were so uncomfortable. Walking distance and a second security could have been prevented.I fly out of JFK and direct flights do exist.
We were misled as to what temperature to expect.
It was extremely cold and damp. We didn't bring the right clothes. My wife's purse was stolen in the dining room of the Abba Berlin Hotel. You should warn travelers not to hang their pocketbooks on the back of their chair.
Judi Ibarra's Eastern European Tour
I found this tour very well prepared in advance. The hotels were good, the activities very favorable and the tour guides in each city very knowledgeable.. I feel that I got to see so much of these countries in the short time we had. It met all my expectations and more. My only comment would be that airline connections needed to be better scheduled.
Highlights of Eastern Europe
This was a good tour...informative.....an abundance of awesome sights... Would have liked it if our tour guide was more solicitous regarding the needs of individuals and the physical demands of certain activities. Also we needed some anticipatory guidance regarding what to expect before certain experiences e.g" Be prepared to walk down between 450 & 550 stairs" before the Salt Mine experience in Krakow or telling us prior to a walk to the town square that this walk would be at a very fast pace as we have to be back to the hotel by........(a certain time). Tour guide did not wear a brightly colored hat or hold up anything that would help us keep up with him - this was very anxiety provoking.
HIGHLIGHTS OF EASTERN EUROPE
This was an excellent tour for people who like to be very active. We had a knowledgeable tour leader who had grown up under the communist regime until 1990. He had traveled to every location on our agenda more than once, always talked about the history of an area we would visit before our arrival, and on arrival showed us how to use the public transportation. He had great ideas on how to use our free time, also info on restaurants and shopping. I highly recommend this tour.
